This is part 3/3 of our wild night out in Seoul! After eating wiggling octopus and getting naked at the Korean Spa (Jimjilbang), we returned to the fish market to watch the fish auction. It was complete chaos but one of the coolest local experiences we've ever had! Our night finally ended at 6 a.m.!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started traveling full-time January 10, 2016. Great video. I gave up beef and pork five years ago after travelling through southwest Kansas and saw all the animals waiting for slaughter. The sight and smell stayed with me enough that I decided to eat mainly seafood, but watching the way the fish and crabs were handled has me thinking I need to go complete vegetarian. No criticism on you or anyone just a personal reflection. You guys are the best vloggers!

I loved Kara's surprise when Nate said this was the first time he had stayed up until it was light again. I did it several times when I was younger (alcohol was usually involved). The fish market was certainly busy, I think it was wise to stand out of the way :-)

3 weeks ago I started to catch up at vlog 1, and here I am at vlog 432 with a few more to go. Say 10 minutes average per blog (low, I know, but makes the calculation easier) and that's 72 hours of Kara and Nate. 3 whole 24-hour days of my life! Worth every second. Every so often I find a vlog which I think is the best yet - and it is. Until I get a bit further and then there's a new one. You guys are amazing.

Going back through some old videos and could totally relate to Nate’s sleepover experiences. I was always the first one to sleep. Still am 😂. Sleep’s the best.
Lol! The first (but not last!) time I stayed up until the sun came up was on my first trip to Seoul too! But not because of a jamjilbang or the fish market....but because of soju and noraebong! Lol! Seriously had no idea we were there for HOURS and hours and totally lost track of time! Craziness! Another time I stayed up allllll night until the next morning was in a seaside town in Korea and I just couldn't sleep, so I went walking around and hung out on the beach and watched the fishing boats going out (and some were coming in)....so awesome! Korea is so safe
I actually fast forwarded through this. Not a fan of the fish market. Looking forward to other adventures

I do feel sorry for the fish though, they were just out swimming and finding their lunch when BAM! Kidnapped, put on a strange vessel to be knocked on the head later. Great video .. I was surprised at all the large live fish. Here in Sydney you can take a behind the scenes tour at the Fish Market for $35 AND there are no photos/videos allowed. Seoul is a much better deal ... glad you didn't have smell-a-vision though.

A very interesting third part, I must say it's entertaining watching what makes you guys so excited, you have just made my top ten of ppl I want to have dinner with somewhere between Winston Churchill and Payton Manning. I do have a question for Nate what tasted worse the wriggling octopus or the Vege-mite?
I travel to Asia routinely but will not visit a fish market there as they are unsustainable and use huge nets to catch the fish at alarming numbers without regard to fish populations.

This auction reminds me of the old Grain Exchange. There are hand signals, pieces of contracts are dropped when completed, etc. Now it's all electronic. Kind of sad to lose the old, more exciting ways.

I hear ya there...I still remember my first "all nighter"....but it wasn't as a tourist...shuttle bus driver for an airport parking lot in Boston. "Can you pull a double?" Sure....get home at 8:15 am Sunday morning....and my Dad is there..."Ok, what's her name?" Ahh...who? "You just got home...who is she?" Yeah...that was funny, he didn't seem all that impressed after I mentioned I worked 17 hours. Haha. Sadly, it was the 1st of a few thousand "all nighters". 10 years or so working the night shift. Ok, some of those weren't work related. HA!

My intention isn't to sound rude, but it's a fact that the oceans are being overfished. And the technology that they're using now means they are fishing millions more fish than thousands of years ago. As well as a higher demand for fish due to a higher population.
Agree. The amount of fish being eaten is crazy. People need to eat balanced food but not taken in by fads like omega3's. My grandparents ate Indian vegetarian food and lived till 97.
@@rogerjeeves7963 I don't want to get involved in whether it's right or wrong to eat meat.. but, I doubt that they lived until 97 solely from never eating meat.. My great aunt and uncle lived until 97 and 101 and both were meat eaters.. that's just coincidence or other factors (genes etc)

In Gothenburg, Sweden where I live the fish itself is dead and on ice in the boxes, here on the other hand the spectators places are behind the buyers on the floor and if you make a not too careful blink with one of your eyes it could be taken as a bid and you stand there and are supposed to pay for a box of for example cod.
