Read this when it came out and loved it so much. I look at it as a warm hug in book form, and who doesn't need that every once in a while! I'm glad you enjoyed it!! :)

It was definitely a great reminder not to be so hard on ourselves and that we aren't alone! :)

What a great video and reading recommendation! 📚 that's going on my TBR, right now. Right there with you as far as depression and anxiety go...I hope your Mother's Day is the best ever! Thanks again, my friend.

Great review, Farrah. I read Haig’s The Humans and The Midnight Library. I loved the latter one.

Thanks Dave! I also enjoyed The Midnight Library and would love to read more from him. I didn't realize he has a few other non-fiction books as well so I'll probably try those too. I love finding a "new-to-me" author to be excited about. :)

I read a book a few months ago called If Cats Disappeared from the World and while it might not be the same vibe the theme felt like it was very much on how fleeting life can be and self reflection.
& I know I had one or two Matt Haig books and just checked I do have the ebook of this on my digital shelf over 2 years now! Oops. But lovely review and reminder for me to read it. The cozy vibes are a nice bonus! :)

I just looked that one up and it sounds really good! I added it to my TBR pile, thanks for sharing that! :) I hope you enjoy The Comfort Book when you get to it, and I'm glad you liked the cozy vibes! I filmed it at 11pm one night because it had been such a busy week! Sometimes it's best just to keep it real, haha. :)

Thank you for this review! My husband is really struggling with anxiety, so this might be a good book for him!

I hope he feels better soon. It’s the worst! If you can ever find Panic Away by Barry McDonagh (it’s a book and DVD set, but I only read the book) on eBay, I highly recommend! It helped me so much, but unfortunately seems to be out of print now. Looks like he has a newer one called Dare which looks great too. Learning breath work and breathing also really helped lessen the anxious feelings too. 🩷

Great review! I loved 'The Midnight Library,' by Matt Haig so much that I had my sister read it. Also, on my channel I have a short story that I had written for a writing class that I was taking called, 'Behind The Smile,' which is about depression. Feel free to check it out. You are right about people looking fine on the outside but depressed on the inside. This is very real!

Thank you, Jess! I checked out your short story Behind The Smile and it was beautiful. You did such a great job. I agree, we never really know what someone is feeling on the inside. It's important to talk about depression and anxiety so that others don't feel as alone. :)

Here's one of my favorite quotes by Solzhenitsyn:
"What about the main thing in life, all its riddles? I'll spell it out for you right now. Do not pursue what is illusionary - property and position: all that is gained at the expense of your nerves decade after decade, and is confiscated in one fell night. Live with a steady superiority over life - don't be afraid of misfortune, and do not yearn for happiness; it is, after all, all the same: the bitter doesn't last forever, and the sweet never fills the cup to overflowing. It is enough if you do not freeze in the cold and if thirst and hunger do not claw at your insides. If your back isn't broken, if your feet can walk, if both arms can bend, if both eyes can see, then whom should you envy? Our envy of others devours us most of all. Rub your eyes and purify your heart - and prize all else in the world those who love you and wish you well. Do not hurt them or scold them, and never part from any of them in anger; after all you simply do not know: it may be your last act before your arrest, and that will be how you're imprinted on their memory."
This was taken at one's emergence of suffering and pain, in the depths of a totalitarian society - the pit of one of Satan's illusions: there, bearing the name of progress and the human condition. Solzhenitsyn had set out to make himself right, and for the most part he did. Purify your heart...

Very interesting quote - feels very Buddha inspired; without attachment, there is no suffering in a sense. It’s all much more simpler than we make it. Definitely thoughts to ponder. Thanks for sharing! He was a very interesting person from what I just looked up about him. I’ll have to look more into that guy!

@@bookstalgic He's a very divisive individual. A sorta philosopher on a more practical, relatable ground - mostly political. He hated Communism because he saw what it did to his country. Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Solzhenitsyn, pretty much all the Russians lived lives of confronting fear to its very bones. I feel like they carried a lot of resentment, and in an effort to clear themselves of it they focused on their writing and ultimately to understanding the world. Heavy hitters I must say, representations of pain and remorse. Look up the "Gulag Archipelago" by Solzhenitsyn. You don't have to read it, but you may find a lot of interesting things just by what's been spoken about it.
