  • Politicians in the upcoming presidential election in Indonesia have refrained from using religious or ethnic narratives to garner votes. This is a far cry from the last contest in 2019, which was among the most divisive in the country's history. Back then, many national leaders had resorted to identity politics to increase their winning chances, said observers. CNA’s Saifulbahri Ismail reports.

    Anies said "Unity in Diversity is inportant" but in real his supporters use religion and ethnic to attack other constentant
    These supporters also voted for Prabowo Sandiaga in election 2019, and once again used identity politic
    This year, they support Anies again, making the majority of neutral voters would think twice to vote Anies

      Stop black campaigning Anies. Just share ur candidate's achievements. In Anies side there is Thomas Lembong who is Chinese Catholic minority but has a big role in his team. During his term, Anies launched so many permits to build religious buildings and religious celebration like Christmas Carol on the Street. This is the evidence that he's tolerant. If you look at his track record, he actually a liberal guy who becomes rector a liberal university in Indonesia and the student of Nurcholis Madjid who was known for father of liberalism. How can he will make Indonesia an Islamic nation? Even his own daughter isn't wearing Hijab 😂

      Tbh all of my family (chinese indonesians) kinda support the current status quo or even taiwan independence more than unification with mainland china. Like, we understand that ideally the two countries should unit - both are historically and culturally chinese after all (although many minority group exist in both countries). But considering how current mainland chinese politics works and what they did to hong kong... yeah the status quo is preferable. Taiwanese independence are also preferable to unification under current mainland china, but maintaining the status quo and fragile peace is more important.

    If individuals were fully integrated into Indonesia, "Chinese New Year" would not be designated as a national holiday. While I recognize Indonesia's observance of this holiday, it's notable that it's not observed in the largest democracy, such as America. If a similar celebration were to be acknowledged, perhaps "Papuan New Year" or "Sundanese New Year" could also be considered. Upholding national unity and identity is paramount when considering one's allegiance to a country. Ensuring fairness for all is essential, isn't it?

      @@sutediheriyonoBaladMaUng Indonesia achieved independence by transcending idealism and uniting diverse elements across all aspects. Only through this inclusive approach could true freedom be realized. The principle of justice for all necessitates its universal application, as elevating any one group above others risks exacerbating divisions and impeding integration, potentially neglecting the needs of the majority. Moreover, national holidays should exclusively commemorate the unity of the nation, refraining from incorporating celebrations of other entities. Ultimately, the concept of a united nation implies a singular, cohesive identity, rather than the recognition of disparate entities.

Makanya gk pernah dia nolak didukung siapapun.
