Damn everything strymon makes is so good! The way the sound degrades over time is perfect. It's such a hard thing to do to fight impulsively buying their stuff 😄

Missing this bad boy. Sold it for an empress echosystem. And don’t get me wrong, empress is nice but volante tape is gold

How do you like studio mode? They say it is the cleanest, does that however mean, that it is sort of characterless and lifeless and that the dtape mode withoud mod on the timeline could do the same?

Very cool pedal, still think I like El Cap better 🤷🏽‍♂️ but I do think i prefer crazy reverb more than crazy delay

With the volante, you need to dig into ots concept and imagine/treat it as a real tape delay. You are insanely flexible with the tempo settings and the full half setting influences your sound a lot - especially the modulation
The switching ability of 4 simultaneous delay heads blows my mind fully. I have never seen timing, spacing and tape head routing so flexible and accessible as in this pedal. Absolutely astonishing
For el cap - fantastic as well. Very easy to get fabulous tape sounds out off, however volante comes a lot closer to the real tape delay
I would suggest both lol. For me I use Timeline and will get volante soon additionally

I am disappointed with mine. I have an Catalinbread Echorec that I like better. I do not know why. The heads only play twice, it does not matter if you max out the repeats. It only make the playback heads go into self-oscillation.

Hi Ivan..I’m trying to decide between the echorec and the Volante do you still prefer the echorec and is it just the amount of delay that the Volante offers that you don’t like or are there other things that you like better about the echorec ?

@@SavoryThymes what I can tell you is that I like the Echorec better. I returned the Volante. The Echrec has a different soul. And since I don't need all the tricks offered by Strymon, I decided not to keep it

Im thinking of buying this pedal but at the moment it is sounding like a fart in a trance ! Imagine that you are onstage and you and the band are taking the gig out with rocking all over the world and johnny b Goode, how about putting some realistic gig worthy patches together ? Best wishes to you. 😁👍

Oh lord lol! If you desire that then I would for my life not get a volante mate, a simple dual delay would do then for you.
Volante is a delay that emulates real tape machines but with endless possibilities of machine head selection and spacing. The modulation is outstanding, very flexible with tempo and the 3 types are based on different real tape delay devices. Volante is an effect for sound crafting, for crazy ambiences but also for complex rhythmic patterns and even pitch shifting. So for this purpose this video nailed it. Give it another shot and focus on the beautiful details of the tape modulation
