    I must say, Toms catch and release technique is great. I’ve learnt quite a lot from him, thanks!

    Wow! How beautiful! Thank you for this Sir. We all hope that soon, we will get the lines out and sort our fly boxes in order to get back out there, where the dreamt prize is laying.... Lines over the water.

    Was hoping this would be a new episode. Whats the point in re-posting old videos?

      Aaron, we are going through our entire inventory of videos and publishing them. Many are new to the channel and have not seen all our content. More early season videos coming from 2001-2005.

    • @newflyfisher
      @newflyfisher  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He was using either a 8 or 9 weight switch rod

    Those fish must feel huge holding the rod like that hah literally fighting them to the cork.

    Did the guide even say a word? I would be pretty disappointed if I paid for that kind of service.

      Tom is pretty chatty and I think the guide was in awe being with him

      I was just thinking the same thing! He seems like he doesn't want to be there. I'm surprised cause Tom seems so easy going and someone you can get a laugh with.

    So risky to grab the line as a guide. The hook could have came undone anytime and it wouldn't be Tom's mistake. It seems a little careless? Tailing the fish is even better for the condition of the fish. It was quite nerve racking seeing watching that. Nice fish tho!

    Great video, but both surprising and disappointing to see Tom fishing in chest waders (from a canoe no less) in a big river without a wading belt.

    • @newflyfisher

      Believe it was a 8 or 9 weight

    honestly this guide looks just terrible to spend a whole 8 hours with lol. hardly talked and looked just so unhappy to be there. do they also not let you touch your own fish? I would hate to catch a trophy salmon and have the guide hold it the whole time!!

    in defense of the guide - I've heard that Tom Rosenbauer was a pain in the ass, drinking booze from the privately stocked bare which wasn't his and didn't wanna pay a single dime for the tips...

      Think that is bit gossip someone passed onto you. The owner let Tom have some of his private stock alcohol especially as they were Orvis Endorsed Lodge and the owner(s) were being very courteous. As per our agreement with the lodge and NB Tourism, the tips for the guides are to be provided by the lodge owner which is customary when we come to shoot videos with any location. If that did not happen (which is surprising) that would have had nothing to do with Tom as he understood this was being taken care of. In terms of Tom being a "pain in the ass", that too would have been shocking to hear. We've worked with Tom for nearly 20 years and have never had a complaint. If anything, everyone wants him to come back. However, relationships between guides and clients can differ from one experience to another and not everyone is always happy. Perhaps that was the case here but certainly we never anything negative from Tom's time at the lodge.
