I used to fish this river when I lived just outside Detroit. One of my favorite rivers of all time, wish I could get back there. Good daytime midge fishing, for very large browns. Felt like I was on a western tail water, but only 3 hours from home. Ugh good times.
Most enjoyable and informative video. Ontario is surely a great destination in Canada. I've visited on numerous occasions but due to health unable to return. Loved the Canadian hospitality and beautiful locations. Thanks from down-under in NZ. Stay safe!.
Hey, I love your videos, you make some of the beautiful videos, I am following you since long, you guys inspired me so much that I made my TH-cam channel to show our valley to world, we live in north India. And have worlds most beautiful rivers & lakes full of trouts.
@@newflyfisher I’ve just visited the Grand river at the Shand dam yesterday (July 10th). It was a beautiful place with diverse structures as it was described in the video. Unfortunately I didn’t have a luck. My guess is I was too late and it was already too warm. Thanks.
Stop by the shop grand river outfitters and they'll help you find the good sections+flies. They guided bill and will guide you if you want to learn the river. fergus to elora is the tail water for browns. there Good people and it'll help our local shops in this situation
I remember listening to a podcast, and Bill Spicer said that Muskies are big "pussies" I was mortified he said that word let alone, he even knew that word.
Lovely looking place. Appreciate you keeping me sane with your films whilst I'm stuck at home unable to get out on the river. Thanks.

So cool! I'm a Canadian living in Ontario. NZ is on my list to visit and fish. I plan to visit Shirley Fraser. :-)

I think I’ve caught more trout on pheasant tails than any other fly in my boxes. Zebra midge maybe a distant second. Nice, relaxing video.
hard to beat the pheasant tail, number one fly here in New Zealand in my opinion, if in doubt, can always rely on a pheasant tail variant of sorts.
Very nice video Bill 👍🎣
Thanks 👍
What about timing? I never primarily fished for brown trout. Which month of the year I should target brown trouts in rivers?
Thanks.
Usually brown trout fishing is good in rivers from April thru to October, depends upon where you live.

Great vid, thanks for posting. Do you guys ever fish in the UK?
Not yet!
@@newflyfisher well, you really ought to once this virus nightmare is over. I'm sure we could find a venue to host you! Take care & stay safe!
I dunno about bobber fishing, but I guess it beats golf.
