I reach out to creators personally! Most of the music I use is Celtic or Folk music, so my only real option for music *IS* to ask independent creators, since the YT Audio library has a limited supply of mermaid/ fairy-esque tunes!

These are great suggestions! I've usually just thrown some original beats together myself, in some music making software but... It's making me think that running my own custom created music library could be even more valuable than just using it for myself!

Two pieces of advice: 1) Even if your friend is in the band and he says you can use it, GET A LICENSE IN WRITING. You never know what could happen later if they sign to a label. Most labels will honor your license if they didn't have the rights when you got it. 2) Don't assume that if you get hit with a violation that means the person who owns the copyright did it. There are companies out there that put claims on EVERY VIDEO with music, hoping you won't challenge the claim. If you don't, they get the monetization. If you have license, CHALLENGE THE CLAIM. **** I have used the TH-cam library, and there's some good stuff there, but I mostly use Musicbed, which has a $10 monthly membership for TH-camrs. You have access to almost the entire library.

I got a royalty free song once.
A year later they decided it wouldn't be anymore and my videos got tagged.
I now use my brothers music from soundcloud.

I bought a 'royalty free' song and after a lot of hard work I uploaded my video on youtube... to get the message that the artist will get all the monetization. I neither want to rely on adsense but I had put so much effort in creating footage that I actually got really angry. I couldn't be asked to argue so I removed my video and changed (song) to one from TH-cam's library before uploading again.
Looking forward to explore some new options tough! Looking for a song for 3 upcoming videos :)

Same! Extremely frustrating to do all that work only to find out I can’t monetize my own video. I’ve been spending the last 2-3 weeks searching website to website, song after song, and I’m freaking exhausted. I don’t have money to pay for a really nice song, but none of the free ones sound that good. It’s an all around aggravating situation.
same thing happened with even you-tube library too. In you tube library, they mentioned "you can use it any of your song" . after hard work i could not upload my work . TH-cam muted my video.

I've been trying to find public domain soundtracks to use for my stop-motion short films, and I do know the two that are public domain is the Firebird Suite and the Rite of Spring, but I know that multiple recordings that have been made over the years are tricky if they are in the public domain or not. I would like to know the best website when it comes to classical music recordings like the Firebird Suite and the Rite of Spring that I can freely use with no hassle from TH-cam's questionable copyright system.

Very informative video, but I've actually experienced someone getting a Copyright Strikes by using Music from the TH-cam Library (over time).
But then again, It's rare. Also, in some cases TH-cam will automatically add information from the music used (song, artist, album etc.) below the video description.
If this happens the music should be safe. I believe I know about a 5-6 year old video were this happened, and still no strikes to this day.
Best TH-cam Channel to be honest. Every video delivers so much value for free and you literally learn a new thing from every video. Followed every single tip. Thank you Sean, best content out there and you inspire me so much :)

Here’s what I do:
First I open the voice recorder in whatever editing app I’m using ( In my case it’s Sharefactory )
as I’m opening the microphone, I connect a gaming headset to my phone and play whatever song I’m going to use. The microphone will record the song, and voila! I have been using this trick since June and I still haven’t got a copyright strike

Just to update, Trap Nation isn't free. In the FAQ Andre says:
"Can I use this in my video?"
Unfortunately I don't own any of the rights for the music I feature on Trap Nation, so you'd have to ask the artist.
"Is this copyright free?"
Again, it's not up to me. I personally receive written permission for every upload, but it doesn't apply universally when someone else wants to use the song.

I teach music lessons for children and I want to use quality classical music recordings in my lessons. I've spent hours searching the TH-cam audio library and didn't find want I am looking for. I don't have a clue who to contact to get licenses for symphonic recordings.
Yeah, it seems like more and more the "royalty free/copyright free" songs on youtube are getting tagged. I don't understand this, How can something be royalty free and then later not be?
You have to watch out, too ..... There are scammers out there that claim music is theirs on small TH-cam channels. The smaller people don't know any better and are scared of getting in trouble, so they let it go. A lot of the people leave the video up and let all the revenue go to the person claiming it, and then those scammers rack up millions of views from lot of videos .....
i don't know how much TH-cam has been able to crack down on that, but i've had that happen to me and there are lots of other people i saw it happened to. A specific person claimed i used their song (that i know wasn't theirs) and then i contested it. The copyright strike was thrown out.
