Agreed. It's actually detrimental to the video. The dissonance between his words, the stats on the screen, and the footage we're seeing/hearing makes it difficult to follow the video.
Bro I miss these videos. They were so clutch when I used to play World of Warships on my old account on my grandparents crappy PC. I hope you bring this back man so good
I had my first Jutland on Jutland duel yesterday. I have IFHE but I'm guessing my opponent didn't and it wasn't even fair. We hit each other about 25 times - I took about 8K damage and inflicted 17K in the same amount of time.
Love the new graphical format, so clear and selfexplanatory! Whats your ideas on Royal Navy Aircraft Carriers? A video on that would be awesome! Focus on What should be the Royal Navy CV unique traits?
Great format. Simplistic walk through the tiers along with your comments. Two suggestions on format; First is to mark your recommended upgrades with a background icon. Second is after you have finished Tier X have screen showing your recommended Upgrades and Commander Skills for each ship on the same screen. It would give a visual that would show pathway to level up your commander if your goal is just to roll the commander up to Tier X. For myself it I use may lower tier commanders to fill the higher tiers, and I keep the high tier ships only. It would show witch commander that I may want to assign to a ship. Yes everyone's play-style is different, but if someone is watching your channel they should be-able to correlate your play-style with your choices and then make any adjustment to fit there own play-style.
I love dd's. Playing gunboats is fun, but I really enjoy giving surprise torpedos to anything in the water. I find the torpedos on Brittish dd's to be basically useless. If the torps are useless, I might as well be playing a cruiser or battleship.
Yes more of these Down the Line vids. A lot of vids like this are out of date and some ships don't ever get talked about. id love to see this for every line in game.
Thank you for this I love these videos! You do so much hard work and it pays of. These down the line videos are some of my favorites but hard to pic just a few, because all of your videos are so good. Keep up the hard work.
I liked this format was really simple and easy to latch onto what you were talking about. I have had some issues with Daring bc I'm so used to playing DDs in Yueyang, Gearing and Z-52 which are all very aggressive and well structured ships. Daring just has absolutely no armour and the moment I get spotted I just get focused on and I can't do anything, smoke is irrelevant bc of the 4 Worcesters that are on the enemy team (never had a game with less than 3 US CL on enemy team). I can't support my team in the same way I could with my other DDs because I get out spotted by every DD except Khaba so I can't pto also bc friendlies hang back with BBs so I get hardly any close quarters support. I have IFHE and CE, thinking of going for SE when I get another 3 points instead of getting RL because I have found that surviving in the Daring is more of an issue than finding a DD - at least you know they're >6km from your position so why bother with RL? I've invested more into the rate of fire of the guns and have cut it down to 2s per salvo but the floaty nature of the shells don't do any dmg irregardless of IFHE. A bit disappointed with the Daring bc it was such a historical DD which was never this much of a dud
I'm using the captain build you recommended for Jutland and Daring in a previous video with the only difference being that I swapped Radio location for IFHE. I like the results...
I've been greatly enjoying HMS Valkyrie. She's a strong T-III _hybrid_ destroyer. Good guns, good torpedoes, good concealment, good speed, good agility. She fits right in with the rest at T-III. However, she cannot compare to her Commonwealth sister, HMAS Vampire. The most obvious difference between the two is torpedo armament, which is strictly in favour of Valkyrie. But what sets them apart and allows Vampire to come off slightly better overall is that third 4" mount of Vampire's with its full 360 degree rotation. We're in that weird case where the British destroyer lacks a feature which will later characterize the British destroyers. Yet this feature is enjoyed by her Commonwealth sister ship. And this is why HMAS Vampire is the strongest T-III destroyer in the game according to player stats... that third gun mount really sells her.
Raise your hand if you can put a 10 point captain on the lower tiers to get the most out of them. Okay...raise your hands for a 14 point captain required to run concealment and IFHE....the chirping of crickets is broken up periodically with Revenge of the Nerds chortles. The RN DDs are fun but only a small minority can put the time/money into developing captains to effectively play them. I like the format you used here. It provides a quality overview of the line in a neatly wrapped package. Good job.
Once I saw the dating gameplay when showing lightning stats I was like wow impressive then I saw it was the daring and the I got sad cause am broke in game aswell
I am loving the British DDs. The Jervis is OP when you are top tier. I sold the Lightning since I have the Cossack but that is also fun to play. I am about 50k XP into the Jutland with an 18 point commander.
Would be great if where the modules are presented, you highlight your recommendation for which to choose per slot. In addition, really would love to see commander skills presented.
I like the idea of the format, but what made the down the line series great was the ships from the line. I liked seeing them. Maybe you can combine both? Showing the ship for a second and then getting to some great line-style gameplay?
As my first British ship, I have found them quite difficult without CE so far. Now that I have it they're at least approaching playability, but the Acasta and Icarus feel a bit weak (could be worse could be Jian Wei) for their tier. As far as the format, extend the gameplay a bit and go with a longer video, covering plays with the DDs you're describing. Skipping a few was a bit confusing to some.
Hey Noster, I really liked the vid keep up the good work. Just a comment, but it might be my personal preference. I prefer the older style of Down the Line i.e. the German/ Russian DD videos, where you give a lot of great information with a short action clip of each tiers ship and a short description of what you like and don't like about it. I find it a lot more immersive and also helps with visualising how each ship works and provides great preparation to my next step up the tech tree. Keep up the work !
Why the tinification of the Brit DD guns at higher levels? Seems very odd, especially since later int WW2, there were few thin-skinned U-Boats left. IRL, were they for dual-use AA? Why not something more along the US-DD line? Also, could you flash a screen for the captain skills, preparing on the way up for the IFHE, etc.?
I'd like it if you could compare how they fair against their peers at each tier. E.g. the RN DDs have nice guns, but should I really dual, say, US DDs etc? Am I stealthier than most? etc.
Nice video as always Notser, I love how u show that stats preview, but the gameplay preview, I prefer the old one, like the japanese bb down the line, when u show up the actual ship in the port, the armor layout, and I suggest u maybe take a shot of the details, like the guns, torp.tube, the AA guns just for the preview, it would look fascinating and apreciating the hardwork of the developer workin on those small details, then the actual in battle gameplay of the ship. So yeah, I think u can keep the stat preview like that, thats cool, but I'd like to see visually the actual ship we talked about at that moment. Can I guess why u dont show the other ship gameplay ? Is that because u dont have the ship anymore XD ? Or it would take much longer time to get some footage of it ?
I've played quite a lot of time with Daring. I must say I like the destroyer a lot. However, the concealment is pretty bad. With 6.0 you cannot contest caps at the beginning of a game. Most of the other tier 10 destroyers will be able to see you before you see them which means you have to play more carefully and passively. This, on the other hand, takes from the pleasure of the game. Jutland has better concealment. I think it reaches 5.7 and because of that I'm not sure if I don't prefer it over Daring. Both are excellent destroyers and completely different from the rest of the line.
Thanks Notser. Currently at Tier 6, but will be carrying on up the line based on this. I think the smoke mechanics are great and give the line real character. A bit unsure on captain skills - in particular do I need Superintendent? Given the standard number of smoke charges.
It's not really useful for the smoke but it's super helpful on the Jutland and Daring to get extra heals (and hydro). So if you're transferring your captain as you go, just pick it later in the build.
6km is VERY competitive at t10. Grozovoi has the same, z52 has 6.1, haru has 6.2, the upcoming FR DD Kléber has 6.3 and Khaba has 9.7. Gearing doesn't even have a hundred meter buffer compared to the Daring.
PS also hoping really hoping that no pun intended the carrers bomb. Hate Hate Hate carriers have had one game where a carrier on my team actually didn't suck and provided some sort of support. So would be not unhappy if they disappeared completely.
ΙΜΟ up to tier 8 they are pretty strong but once you get to Jutland one one hand you get a solid DD but also High tier problems start. You struggle to get out of Radar range, AA wont keep planes away and you cannot relocate because top speed is way low. Last thing i don't like is the smoke. I like destroyers but i struggle with the RN ones, maybe they need division play more.
Hi Notser, good vid, as always. I like the way it was presented with the "down-the-line" with the stats an all. Did not look at it that much, your commentary was way more important - and engaging. I was 1 of the sceptics about RN dd's. Was very dissapointed about the nerv to consealment for tier IX and X in the pre-launch phase, didn't even wanted to grind the line, I think remembering commenting here... which I ended up doing anyway, or kind off, free-xp'ed my way to Lightning, liked it - but then again, I knew that would be the case - got to IX and X... and hated it. Lost all my games at start... see myself as a dd main, so loosing ALL my games was very troubleing... did not even play the game for some days, sad about my vaste of free xp I had build up over so many month... went back to play my other dd's, love the Shimmie for example - and went op against Darings and Jytlands... and what a nightmare! SO annoying to play against, ran into a couple of rly good RN dd players and that was not that fun.... but it teached me a leason; thought I could do that too in my Jutland and Daring, gave them a chance and have liked them ever since. They are more difficult then the other dd's at IX and X - and then again, easyer - kind of - when u get the hang of it. Win rate starting to go up, don't die every game now, has had some absolutly fantastic single torp hits where I was congratulated in my gameplay by the oppersite team - so like them now, don't regret anymore. So could not let my first comment about the line, stand, in light of my new found enjoyment of them - and in light of your great vid. Thx.
I'd have to agree. I'm loving this line. I do wish they'd give the Jutland and the Daring a bit higher speed though. I also miss the ability to take radio location. But overall it's a fun line and looking to be way better than what they have in mind for the French considering the premiums they've released. Russians must hate France.
Great video format! Love it. Concise and to the point. Dont really get why you would use IFHE - do you still get enough fire chance given a base of only 8%?
Huge issue with them is the top speed even with flag...I get it defensive but 36.8knots with the flag...I was ran down by a French BB....and smoke can only help so much. Also annoying when in radar range of the US CA's as it lasts ages and takes ages to get out even worse if they're going the same direction as you.
I always hear new lines are fantastic, slightly sad about my US DDs, seem their gun systems are not up to the job anymore. I wonder Notser if you still prefer RU DDs over RN?
Great Video as always Notser (btw I love that little smirk you always seem to have in your voice) I honestly have to say tho that i dont like the "windowed" style, it kinda reminds me of those cheap anime videos where they have to put the actual video inside a small box of the real video to avoid copyright strikes >.< and besides if people are interested in the stats... you are free to pause anytime. Concerning the British DDs I have to agree with you on the fact that they have a lot of potential, however i feel limited by the "kinda must have choice" to pick a minimum of 2 4 point skills (rpf excluded), this allows for no modularity in builds and really limits your torpedo options - speaking of 10 km torps on tier 10, those already were a major annoyance on the Grozovoi. In my opinion the British DDs like the Russian alternative Line were intended as "Universal Soldiers" (pun towards the legendary Grozovoi module intended) but have now failed a second time and were pushed into a mediocre Gunboat role in which ships like Haru and Kaba already excel. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love these Hybrids, uniting the best of two worlds, I love the potential of having potent guns as well as potent torpedos, but it always ends in a Gunboat.
Love the format Noster keep up the great vids :) Never could unlock the Lightning in those crates though :( Can you do a down the line on the Jap cruisers?
Please don't change the editing format from your past Down the Line video's like the one for German Cruisers. The in-port showcase of the ship while you talk stats and the gameplay of the ship while you address viability and playstyle is perfect, and certainly a lot better than talking about a certain ship during gameplay of another ship :( A Down The Line video about the French Cruisers would be great to see btw! (in the older format)
@@ivvan497 You didn't specify which tier. But to answer your initial question, for T10 I'd say Gearing for jack of all trades, Haragumo for dakka fear factor, Khabarosk for knife fighting, and Shimakazee for putting up torp walls. In the end it depends on the play style.
I'm at the tier 5 Acasta. Kinda okay, but far from awesome. The ships so far were more like MEH! Almost all DDs outspot these ships, so unless they are alone without backup, you're doomed. No gamechanger ships, mor like harrassing role with the pew-pew role. Only positive is the single torp launch in 100% situations against noobs. So if you put aside the "Wow British destroyers" factor, these are fun ships, but only in proper teams in proper circumstances. I don't see anything special about them. Good players will be okay with them, bad and mediocre players will suffer.
A somewhat out of line gameplay DD, playing defensively. RN DD players who play correctly will be hated, got shot by teammates for not scouting, not torping, and hiding in smoke, and if you're doing well at dodging, the team will hate you for surviving. great job wargaming
I prefer your original down the line where you talked about the ship while it’s in the background, this new style is just too distracting while I’m trying to watch the video
Like the video format have no interest in the brit lines at all. For me they totally suck, made the mistake of starting with the cruisers stuck at emerald and only play maybe once a month a game just to remind me why I hate them, BBs the same. Not even going to try the dds. Love the IJN lines/Germ/US/Russian, french soso
i think it would have been better if you showed the stats while you played the ship you were presenting per tier
Agreed. It's actually detrimental to the video. The dissonance between his words, the stats on the screen, and the footage we're seeing/hearing makes it difficult to follow the video.
I do agree as well
Yeah and it would also be interesting to see his choice of skills for the commander.
i agree
Sounds good
Bro I miss these videos. They were so clutch when I used to play World of Warships on my old account on my grandparents crappy PC. I hope you bring this back man so good
Play the dd you are describing, or have it in the port... otherwise it's confusing,
Drink a shot whenever notser say "unfortunately"
Maybe have a circle around the upgrade you recommend in each slot for each ship?
I had my first Jutland on Jutland duel yesterday. I have IFHE but I'm guessing my opponent didn't and it wasn't even fair. We hit each other about 25 times - I took about 8K damage and inflicted 17K in the same amount of time.
When discussing a whole tech tree show case this presentation rocks. A quick review as you grind through is a valuable resource at your fingertips.
I like this kind of overview of the entire line. It's nice to have an idea what to expect without having to wait for a video on each ship.
I liked that you showed the ship that you were talking about in your other Down the Line videos. It puts what your talking about into context
Love the new graphical format, so clear and selfexplanatory!
Whats your ideas on Royal Navy Aircraft Carriers? A video on that would be awesome!
Focus on What should be the Royal Navy CV unique traits?
Seeing as they were the only ones smart enough to use armoured decks through most of the war that should be a thing in game.
Really like this format. Very practical. Excellent work. Thanks.
Great format. Simplistic walk through the tiers along with your comments. Two suggestions on format;

YAY!! Down the Line is back!! Btw, where's the USN DD's?
Update: following the IFHE rework Jutland and Daring no longer require IFHE to penetrate superstructure and enemy dds
Yes more of these Down the Line vids. A lot of vids like this are out of date and some ships don't ever get talked about. id love to see this for every line in game.
Down the lines are my fav videos, visit them regularly when I want to find a new line to grind, please do more!
Thank you for this I love these videos! You do so much hard work and it pays of. These down the line videos are some of my favorites but hard to pic just a few, because all of your videos are so good. Keep up the hard work.
This new graphical format is outstanding ! Fantastic job Noster :) And great analysis of all tree :)

Lol that Seattle knocked you all the way into reverse!
I got a Kraken in my first random played with the Valkyrie. That is all
Great video, believe it or not I am new to World of Warships. I learned a lot from you video. my DD play is much improved. Thanks!
I've been greatly enjoying HMS Valkyrie. She's a strong T-III _hybrid_ destroyer. Good guns, good torpedoes, good concealment, good speed, good agility. She fits right in with the rest at T-III.

I am loving the British DDs. The Jervis is OP when you are top tier. I sold the Lightning since I have the Cossack but that is also fun to play. I am about 50k XP into the Jutland with an 18 point commander.
I like what you've done. Very captivating.

Daring and Harugumo makes the Khaba look like a tier 8 dd

Thought the jervis had 360...could be wrong.
Joe Dessert the jervis has a 360 rear turret. Front ones aren’t

I specifically saved all my free xp for this line. It was my first DD line and I love my daring.
It's good, like the format, carry on...
Thanks Notser. Currently at Tier 6, but will be carrying on up the line based on this. I think the smoke mechanics are great and give the line real character. A bit unsure on captain skills - in particular do I need Superintendent? Given the standard number of smoke charges.

You're the best Dude thanks!
Great video format! Love it. Concise and to the point.
Dont really get why you would use IFHE - do you still get enough fire chance given a base of only 8%?
i totally missed captain skills. ifhe, concealment, and radio location? im assuming SE for the extra hp and then normal dd tier 1 and 2
Huge issue with them is the top speed even with flag...I get it defensive but 36.8knots with the flag...I was ran down by a French BB....and smoke can only help so much. Also annoying when in radar range of the US CA's as it lasts ages and takes ages to get out even worse if they're going the same direction as you.
good video thanks
Love the set up of the Info But could do Slingle ship typed
I always hear new lines are fantastic, slightly sad about my US DDs, seem their gun systems are not up to the job anymore. I wonder Notser if you still prefer RU DDs over RN?
My top three are German, American, and British fir DDs
great Video. Love you show the stats permanently!
Great Video as always Notser (btw I love that little smirk you always seem to have in your voice)
I honestly have to say tho that i dont like the "windowed" style, it kinda reminds me of those cheap anime videos where they have to put the actual video inside a small box of the real video to avoid copyright strikes >.< and besides if people are interested in the stats... you are free to pause anytime.
Love the format Noster keep up the great vids :) Never could unlock the Lightning in those crates though :( Can you do a down the line on the Jap cruisers?
Sure
" RPF is the most important skill, outside of concealment for a DD " ... what about last stand? also nerd rage has to have a mention in the build
I like it notser!!:)
Thanks Notser! I'm going brit dds!)
Please don't change the editing format from your past Down the Line video's like the one for German Cruisers. The in-port showcase of the ship while you talk stats and the gameplay of the ship while you address viability and playstyle is perfect, and certainly a lot better than talking about a certain ship during gameplay of another ship :(
A Down The Line video about the French Cruisers would be great to see btw! (in the older format)
has anyone had any troubles with frame rate after a random battle starts? My game drops below 20 fps once the game announces "battle start".
Playing wakeful makes me want to cry. At least the british smoke is fun
Do You Think that the British Destroyers are too much?
What do you think is the best competitive DD for ranked games?
@@mszabados1 I meant best T10 DD. Fuck this sprint ranked, thats for T5 trash noobs.
Good to see WG finally got a British line right. Whilst I did love the cruisers, they are very easy to play badly and that puts me off
Plz do a us dd line
"down the line" with eol gameplay, well thx
I really don't think IFHE is needed at T9/10. You can do plenty of damage just shooting superstructure with HE.

Nice do linke it, mis you cap. Skills
Power Creep

I'm at the tier 5 Acasta. Kinda okay, but far from awesome. The ships so far were more like MEH! Almost all DDs outspot these ships, so unless they are alone without backup, you're doomed. No gamechanger ships, mor like harrassing role with the pew-pew role. Only positive is the single torp launch in 100% situations against noobs. So if you put aside the "Wow British destroyers" factor, these are fun ships, but only in proper teams in proper circumstances. I don't see anything special about them. Good players will be okay with them, bad and mediocre players will suffer.
Please go back to original format this is to muddled
Love the IJN lines/Germ/US/Russian, french soso
old style is better
I think you repeat yourself too much. You say the same things over and over.
Brits better concealment, more smokes, nice turning and wargaming Wants to nerf Bbs AP Pen in dds.... Game is chanching for worse
