That’s some impressive ball striking brother, particularly with that 2 iron. What was your journey to reach this level? Did you take a lot of lessons, or mostly self taught? What’s your weekly practice regiment look like nowadays to maintain?
Uptown G Here’s the quick story....I’m 100% self-taught! I played baseball competitively until college, then switched to golf and played at the Junior College level. I always played golf with my dad, but never seriously until about 19years old. It has become my competitive outlet, there’s nothing like getting your juices flowing in sports. To maintain, I make sure I touch my clubs at least twice a week. I play every single week, and practice putting in the garage and chipping in the backyard pretty regularly. I’ll go to the range every now and then, but not unless I need to work on correcting something or learning a new shot/club. Excess range time can be so detrimental to anyone’s on course game
There’s a big difference between playing golf, and learning your golf swing. I feel like too much range time can put you out of touch with the realities of playing the game. Bad lies, uneven lies, being forced to hit a certain shot, learning to deal with outcomes….that can only come from on-course play…from trial and error. Yes, everyone must understand their own swing, which can be honed in on the range…but you can’t play “golf swing” out on the course!
This was a great round. I like those flagstick devices for getting the ball out of the hole. I assume a covid invention, but they should just be a normal thing.
@@TerminatorGolf I figured as much. An improvement would be to have most of the material removed (leaving just two narrow vertical columns connecting the upper and lower ends) so the ball most likely doesn’t hit it.
Man. The reason that I love your channel so much is because each time i am planned go to a course in socal, i look up on TH-cam, and BAM! The Terminator is there. Lol. I go to this course this Sunday. Looks pretty difficult. Do you think this one is more difficult than Cross Creek that you recently went to? I am a bogey player btw. Would it be chellenging for my level? 🙂
The Ike is one of my favorite courses in the entire LA area! It’s completely different from Cross Creek, yet will still penalize you if you severely miss a shot as there’s plenty of shrubs and bushes to catch errant shots. You’ll be challenged, but you’ll be impressed.
@@thehairygolfer This is something we will certainly make happen as soon as possible! Damn 'Rona!! 60y and in huh? 99% of the time, I only use 1 club, my 59* wedge....but I've learned to hit so many different shots with it, it's so versatile!!
@@TerminatorGolf The plan was Thailand this winter and USA next summer. But that has all gone back 12 months. I will be making one last visit to the US before I have to think of retirement. I am going to invite everyone to meet up in one place for a week and play 5 rounds of golf. Swap pairings on the 10th tee and have a blast. I like to manipulate my wedges too, open face, shut face, ball back, ball forward, high, low. Whatever it takes to land on my spot.
@@thehairygolfer I like it! Where in the USA were you thinking? Someplace crazy like Bandon, where there's exactly 5 courses?? Someplace fun like Vegas??
@Golf Funatics Shooting a low score isn’t all about distance...it certainly helps, but dropping approach shots right on the stick and/or rolling it well with the flatstick will save a TON of strokes!
@@TerminatorGolf well yeah it would just be nice to hit my clubs further and start playing from the tips. I guess I need to work on my game and distance will maybe come later on haha
Both courses are typically in phenomenal shape, but the Ike is certainly the one to play. Really a ton of elevation change throughout the whole property

@@TerminatorGolf Really? excess range time can be detrimental to the course play? Please elaborate...thank you.

Dope video man nice round
I had a blast playing this course for the first time today. Shot 95 but I definitely had fun. Great video
12th hole at Ike is probably one of the best par-4 holes in Southern California
This was a great round. I like those flagstick devices for getting the ball out of the hole. I assume a covid invention, but they should just be a normal thing.
Yes and no…it was convenient, but it made the flagstick too thick, actually rejecting some shots

What a great round of golf. 230 4 iron, errr yeah, I think we might be playing a different game.......😂😂😂😂
@The Hairy Golfer Potentially! Get out there on ur correct tees and I’m sure we’d all have a great time!
@@TerminatorGolf I'd love to watch you hit balls up close and personal. I think I would learn a lot from your short game and putting. 60 yards and in.

Boom what a start!
@Fore to Four Golf Thank you sir! Congrats on reaching 500 subs!!
Terminator Golf thanks mate!
I'm playing Ike today. Great round man.
Thanks! I hope you enjoyed your round out there, sometimes the Ike can be very punishing
that is some beautiful golf right there! Amazing, hope to one day play that good
@Golf Funatics Hope?? Nahhh, you got this! I’ll be looking out for a birdie bonanza from you guys soon!
@@TerminatorGolf haha I have been grinding lately. but man i just cant get my distance up on my clubs

@Golf Funatics If you have the drive to get better, you will. That’s one of the beautiful things about this game, hard work can pay off
One of my favorite courses in the area and close to my home. Loved your video, I can't wait to see more.
Awesome! Thank you! There's certainly more to come!
Solid ball strikes. Any tips or drills you like to do to stay sharp with your irons?
I've got a few drills on my Instagram page....check it out!

I thought it was gonna go...great round!
Fore to Four Golf Thank you 😊 Trying to pass on the good vibes.....hopefully we’ll see a birdie bonanza from you soon!!
Terminator Golf they’ve been coming recently...but not filming 🤦🏻♂️
I’ve never played there. Course looks sick
Nice playing

Exciting stuff ⛳️
So close. That is amazing day.
Very much so. Such an awesome course that feels so isolated in the middle of the chaos that is LA
1 over is ridiculous especially from the black tees. The greens are so tricky..the camera doesn’t really pick up on how much slope there is.
That was still my best round I've ever had out there!
Wish I could hit my golf shots like you. What a great round! Well played!
Thank you!!
Amazing back 9! Wow so close to the last. 3 birdies in a row! Hell yeah! 16 looked tough. Congrats on that score and solid play, well done!
Great playing man, you should play a lot of competitions!
@The Backyard Golfer Maybe one day I’ll get back into comps...it’s been a long time since my days in tournament golf...we’ll see!
Nice second round - great job recording
Great playing there! Are you going to play in the Inland Empire Amateur Championship?
@Hartling Bros Golf Unfortunately, no. I'm not quite ready to ramp up into a tournament golfer again...possibly soon
What is the name of the shot tracer app you use?
“Shot Tracer App” 👊🏻
Good Stuff man, thought you’d go under for the round after 11...still a pretty great round
harout keuroghlian it was a birdie bonanza!! I think my putting is holding me back....time to get to work
