    Totally agree with your take on instagram and how to perceive what people post. It’s like a museum of other peoples art, and shouldn’t be treated as anything else. Just because an artist only paints flowers and rainbows, doesn’t mean their life is like that

      Wow thank u . I really needed that comparison to paintings . As an young a bit depressed artist I suddenly understanded it and oh gosh after the video and ur comment I feel 10 times lighter :)

    Lindsiann, I admire your transparency in this video💘Instagram, especially, can negatively influence the way we see ourselves and our lives because we get caught in this comparison game. So thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. Also, I loved seeing the bts process of how you take photos. Your efforts in your videos are definitely being recognized - keep up the great work!! 🤩

    i really like your perspective that instagram is all fake. i agree that the reason that it becomes so toxic is that we perceive it as real and compare our lives with others, whether it be that we're having less fun, surrounded by less friends, going to less parties, etc. But if we can separate what's real and curated, then it becomes so much easier to love and enjoy your own life for what it is. Because in the end, we all have our ugly days, our boring routines, and our lonely moments and the only difference is that the person on the other side of the screen is making an effort to be perceived in the specific way they want to be perceived- the way that you're perceiving them.
    Thank you for another amazing video and your pictures turned out so cute!!

    love this video! I feel the same way about Instagram- I view it as a creative platform where people can express themselves and curate really cool things. I actually appreciate the effort of an “aesthetic” photo bc I see the vision! It’s literally an art form to me, just digital. I actually think that Instagram IS real because of how much effort people put into it, and imo that effort should be celebrated! Some images (like art) are pleasing to the eye, regardless of what message they are conveying. Ultimately, it is up to the viewer to decide how they want to perceive it.

    You’re making me want to change my entire wardrobe which I still need to do but can’t afford to and make fashion videos! I live in the countryside and always love the city! I used to have 5K on Instagram when it wasn’t as popular and I deleted mine so maybe I’ll get back to enjoying it again

    it’s so interesting to hear your thoughts! I realised the same thing about how much effort goes into curating this aesthetic life that’s presentable on camera after I started making videos, but before that I just never viewed social media as critically. also love your style! 💕

    Hey Lindsiann, I'm a new suscriber and can I just say -- I absolutely loved this video. As someone who's always struggled with confidence and comparing myself to other people on social media, this is such a gentle, reassuring, encouraging, and optimistic take. I love the idea of just having to tap into a more confident version of myself "for the gram" without having to completely change who I am as a person. I've always been intimidated by girls who look like you (i.e. fiercely confident on camera), and it's reassuring to see you be your shy and awkward self behind the camera (although you technically showed those parts on camera too but u get the point lol). There's something about this video that makes me feel like I can also be awkward and still tap into my "main character energy" and show a different version of myself from time to time. Thank you for de-stigmatizing the idea of wanting to "curate" your Instagram feed just because. I feel better about social media now than I was before watching this video -- so thank you for making this

    Ive had too completely overhaul the way I approach exercise. My whole childhood, I was obsessed with wanting a flat stomach, instagram and all that never helped that cause. I know it came from family - brown, immigrant families have no filter or awareness of the impact of their comments. Now I try really hard to work out because its medicine for my depression and try to remember its not about pushing myself to oblivion every time I get on the mat. I live my the notion of consistent mediocrity now, just a consistent 60% effort for my brain.
    I began posting my workouts on my channel, so I'd have a visual to SEE with my own eyes, that I'm getting stronger, and better at yoga/pilates and exercise isnt just about size.

    Instagram isn't fake or toxic, or new. The internet isn't new either. Metaphorically it's been around for a long time and so have all the issues surrounding it. You could argue that Instagram and fashion are practically synonymous. And fashion is as old as time itself.
    People love fashion because they are curious and they want to experience life. The best experience is usually a transformative one, where your perspective gets changed. People want to be somebody else. They want to have different emotions. They want to experience what it feels like to have attention. They want to feel alive.
    Instagram is an extension of the fashion experience. Instagram and the internet have amplified the fashion experience because photos and movies have the power to alter reality and persepective. And the interent has made this experience avalable to everyone.
    Capturing a moment in time with a photograph is a very unique experience. It fucks with reality and perspective. That's probably why people did cave art 30,000 years ago. That was their Instagram.
    The only way to surpass the altered state of reality created by photographs, is with movies. This is why people pursue a career in acting. Both in movies and theatre. Movies especially, represent a profound way to transform yourself into a completely different person, in a completely different world.
    It's not accurate to call movies or plays, fake. Or Instagram for that matter. All of these things are basically stories. It's storytelling, it's art, it's entertainment, it's informative, it's communication, it's therapy, it's also a legit busines that makes a lot of money and shapes the culture of every society in the world.
    I like your Instagram photos but your TH-cam content is superior. It's more powerful because movies have better stories (experiences) than photos do. Through the power of story, movies represent the ultimate transformative human experience. Regardless if you're exploring fashion or anything else.
    Someone should make TH-cam videos that are as aesthetically powerful as a good Instagram photo. I feel like you're instinctively moving in that direction with your channel. It's much harder to make videos, but they have way more impact than a photo. Keep up the good work.

    i feel like i initially was so struck by the irony of this video being an authentic commentary on social media while also fully exposing how planned instagram is, even for "casual" looking photos. the more i thought about it though, i kind of reflected on how annoyed i am with this pressure to be authentic, and how sometimes accepting that it blatantly is a show or an art form can help. like i guess no one said that instagram has to be like real life, it can very much be a highlight reel. so is the solution to comparison to post whatever no matter how ugly or random it is? to quit social media? or is it better just to accept that EVERYONE plans it out to a T? i'm still figuring it out myself but i appreciate the openness to discussion in this vid.

    Aw love this! I definitely know a lot of ppl who has a different personality from what they show in social media. It’s not that bad tbh. As you said, it’s more of like a way of expressing your creativity. I hope ppl realize this before they get too caught up in keeping up with these unrealistic standards. But still, I think the key here is just basically romanticize yourself and feel like the fvckin’ main character that you are♥️

    I found one of your videos about feeling alone in New York City and I related to that a lot but I subscribe thinking most of your videos are more on self reflecting and bettering yourself but as I watch a lot of your old and your new videos I think your mindset is very toxic like you inflict in self toxicity like you degrade your own self so much to the point where i feel bad for you. If you're an influencer aren't you supposed to be spreading good influence why do you want to spend your negativity on things that you're insecure about other people? like I feel more bad about myself by watching you complain about all of your photographs turning out bad that I think it turned out good but just because you're not satisfied with it you will shit on yourself the world about it. Instagram as a whole is not fake whatever you are looking at on Instagram is probably fake because whatever your life is on your Instagram is fake it's not according to your personality or how you are like you said. so to put it bluntly keep your two cents to yourself I see you're trying to project your own views and describing it as "how the world is" like... You might not see this now and you might probably reply or delete my comment with the negativity in mind as if I'm hating on you but no my initial impression at first of you was someone who was considered never popular or pretty or fashionable etc and you're starting to find your own style and voice which you are doing that but you don't see how negative you are why do you want to share this to your followers and viewers if you're an influencer you're influencing people to have even more insecurities like you. You don't beg anybody to watch your videos I know that but you don't give a shit about the first impression or impact that you were putting onto the Internet. I honestly thought you were somebody who is trying to find themselves but all I've seen you do is talk shit about your own self under mine and appreciate all of your effort and just be so picky about everything because you're not satisfied with yourself I'm just so confused as to why you want to put this out into the world and show this to people. I was feeling pretty good about myself and I've had some of my friends take photos of me and some of them look the same like yours but when you're complaining that you don't like how you look or if it's turning out so bad and you're complaining about it makes me feel as if like whatever I try to do to take photographs and stuff was bad because I see you "influencers" on the Internet complaining about it. Yeah you're an influencer all right but you're a toxic one.

    • @lucyromanoff654
      @lucyromanoff654 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "keep your two cents to yourself" ...is literally watching her video LOL. some of us actually like hearing her perspective! news flash: not being totally satisfied with urself IS part of figuring urself out. if ur too uncomfortable watching other people talk about their lives online or it makes u feel bad, DON'T WATCH. it's not an influencer's responsibility to care about ur feelings.. don't tell them to stop posting bc u can't handle differences lmao i've never read a weirder comment

    • @brishawn996
      @brishawn996 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lucyromanoff654 i dont know if your brain shut off when you were reading my comment but you definitely took it personally when my comment isn't even directed towards you. I'm literally telling her that she is inflicting a lot of negative and toxic things about herself when she should be more confident about it. I know I haven't said it in the nicest way but I don't like to sugarcoat things. It's clear that she wants to be an influencer are you saying that she shouldn't care what kind of influencer she should be and just throw whatever she wants out there on the Internet? No she cares because if she would've done something like that she would already be canceled right now. Explain to me why should anyone give a fuck about her feelings when she's sharing it on the Internet if she shouldn't care about other people's feelings? People are allowed to disagree with her just because you agree with her perspective and her views or want to know about it doesn't mean that you're in the right either. lmao i've never read a more ignorant reply. 🙄
