    Thank you for all the questions you’ve answered for me over the past year or so. I know this is going to sound like some kind of advertisement, but your Wilde tuned harmonica has renewed my interest playing. I’m 77 years old and am almost playing with the same energy that I did when I practiced 6 hours a day in my 20’s. It’s been fun adapting it to my own style of playing, and I can’t thank you enough!

    I own all 7 keys of the PentaHarp. I love the freedom they give me, as my abilities are more focused on speed and precision instead of bending. Really, my bending does need work. So, I definitely want to invest in Wilde Tuned harps eventually. They are an amazing innovation. For every different tuning there is give and take.
    As for the PentaHarp being less "expressive", I think that a blues piano player might disagree. I play my PentaHarp like the keys of a piano, without bending. Sometimes a flickering phrase of notes can also be enough to get a point across. Ultimately, we can never have too many harmonicas, and variety is the spice of life.
    Thanks for the review, Will.

      PentaHarp can play octave split scale. Like a piano player has two hands, think of your tongue as the space between your hands.

    • @arcanemuses
      @arcanemuses 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@WolfsburgWarehouse that's another neat feature. I mean, if you're going to play classic blues rock (Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Guns-N-Roses), then for sure get the Wilde-tuning and learn to utilize it. That said, both the Wilde Tuning and PentaHarp are still new and under-utilized by newer artists. Who can say how creative musicians will employ them in the future? And we've been stuck with a !@#$ing polka tuning these last 150 years with the standard diatonic. Different can only be better at this point.

    Will... Extremely excited about your Wilde Tuning Harps. As you know, I have ordered all the standard keys as well as three flatted keys and an F#.
    You are a freakin' genius on developing this tuning! When I heard your solos on Freebird and Stairway To Heaven... I was stonefaced sold.
    I can FINALLY have a harp that can sound like a killer guitar! I LOVED how you have kept holes 1 through 5 exactly the same as Richter Tuning.
    All of those years of learning licks on that tuning are still there. BUT my drive to learn more has been REOPENED because I don't have to struggle with overblows on different keyed harps.
    Looking forward to some more Skype lessons.

    great video Wil, your absolutely correct, whilst you obviously prefer and endorse the Wilde tuning, you graciously didn't just poopoo or bad mouth the Pentaharp, refreshing and a credit to your professionalism. Each are made to cater for different circumstances and different music styles. i did buy and try one of your Wilde tuning harps but I don't have the same gusto and energy you have so I have found the new Pentaharps a better fit for me as I am more in line with slower bluesy/jazz/funk for which the Pentaharp is a great Harmonica, covers most needs - but - not all - so as an experimenting musician, a good cross selection of special tunings and regular Richter harps are the challenging tools for creativity. Each to their own as they say and for sure you certainly Masters your stage. Love watching you perform and I am always amazed how you make the harmonica more frontline-mainstream - riff smashing - ear blasting FANTASTIC !!!!!!!! great work Wil hope you continue to progress and succeed in your goals, all the best.

    I bought a Wildetuning LF Last week and I wanted to buy a Pentaharp too. Perhaps the Pentaharp is right for me to play a simple rhythm while I play leads on the guitar??? I'd like to reverse things a bit I am always strumming while blowing maybe I could hold down the beat while shredding??? Without having to think too hard about my next harp note....Love your stuff man

    • @roberttemple2521
      @roberttemple2521 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would not be able to play rhythm/chord changes on the PentaHarp because the chords are not what you would want. The different note layout of the PH [and any other alternate tuning] always give new chords [compared to the standard Richter tuning]. I think the PH is perfect for playing jazz/blues, swing and funk riffs. I have yet to try a Wilde tuning, probably because I don't care about rock music.

  • @applemarker4731
    @applemarker4731 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Something I like a lot about Wilde tuning is you get a harmonic minor scale in third position across all the octaves without the need for overblows which is great for gypsy and klezmer music.

    • @willharmonicawilde
      @willharmonicawilde  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not something I'd noticed to be honest, I'll have to try it! Harmonic minor works great in 2nd position on the Wilde-Minor tuning too, because it gives you the minor 3rd and minor 6th as natural blow/draw notes, and you have the major 7th available as a half step draw bend in holes 2, 6 and 9.

    When I first heard of the Pentaharp, I thought that it was Hohner's take on your signature tuning. I was really ignorant about the tuning. Now knowing what I know about the tuning from your videos and especially since I received a harmonica from my teacher that had his signature tuning, I would like to give a Wilde Tuning a try. The only reason why I can't is because I can't afford a Seydel. Yeah, I'm more of a Hohner gal, but I'm willing to try anything once.

      It helps to know Richter tuning first. However holes 1 to 5 on Wilde tuning are exactly the same as 1 to 5 on Richter and then holes 6,7,8 are just a repeat of 2,3,4. I've had a couple of Skype students who started out on Wilde tuning and they were fine.
