    I am learning ქართული ენა for four days, I already learned the alphabet and can write. Sounds are also done though now when I am learning words and new phrases at night and there is word with ღ or ყ, I need to be careful with not getting anyone awake because this sound are well.... sometimes noisy lul.

    The sign you show is known throughout the past soviet countries, though I wouldn't say it's used very much. Everyone knows it for sure, but there are some unpleasant connotations coming with it, like it's a sign only the total drunks would use, so people usually avoid using it in real life, or use it to indicate that someone else is a drunk or was really intoxicated, say, when they last saw them.
    ცოტა reminds me of the Japanese ちょっと. I'm not saying the languages are related, but it's a fun coincidence for me personally, as I studied Japanese at the University.
    Thank you very much for your time, the videos you make are helping me out a lot.

    A very helpful list! and your pronunciation is very good. I also appreciate having both the Georgian spelling and the roman transliteration. Would you consider making an Anki deck of these words and sharing it on ankiweb?

    • @ryannakao2448
      @ryannakao2448  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi there, glad to hear it's helpful. I'm actually quite busy right now so won't be able to and I would actually encourage you to make your own deck. I read a book by Gabriel Wyner about using Anki, and he talked about how he used to make decks and share them with friends, but they didn't help his friends. He theorizes it's because the actual forming of the deck plays a part in retention.

    • @huttarl
      @huttarl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryannakao2448 Fair enough. My pronunciation won't be as good, but maybe the pronunciation can be remedied later with a native speaker.
      I've done a lot of deck creation (on Quizlet), and I can testify that I don't remember most words very well right after creating the decks. But after drilling on them for a while using their spaced repetition system (now being phased out), I've gotten to know them 100x better. That's not to say deck creation doesn't play some role in retention. But a lot of people have been helped a great deal by using flashcard decks and repetition.

    • @huttarl
      @huttarl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryannakao2448 docs.ankiweb.net/#/getting-started?id=shared-decks seems to agree with Gabriel Wyner, and explains why a shared deck doesn't do as much for the recipient as for the creator, unless the recipient also studies the background and explanatory info that is summarized by the deck.

    Just curious, in subtitles, word: GKVIA. You can use letter Q, instead of K. რა გქ+ვია
    This mispronounced letters come from Soviet past, when foreign language for us was Russian. So Russians don't have ქ-Q and also Latin X ექს, in Russian language pronounced as ხ.
    I very much appreciate your success and what you are doing.

    • @ryannakao2448
      @ryannakao2448  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for your comment. I actually really dislike putting the English letters as it takes more work and there's the subjective nature to the translation. I've seen Georgians different variations, seen even official Georgian road signs using different translations. I would much prefer to just write in Georgian but as many speakers are new, I opt to put the English. The most standard way I can think of is basing it off of the keyboard strokes, but I find that learning that is almost like learning another alphabet for new learners. So I sort of made up my own that I found helpful personally early on and try to stick to that. For instance, for a native English speaker (I can't speak for Russian speakers or others) but it made the most sense to me to do ქ (k), კ (k'), ყ (k'') as a way to think of how the sounds relate but yet are different. Sometimes I do ხ (x) but sometimes I do ხ (kh). I do the former sometimes because that's the keystroke and I naturally think that way, but when I remember to do it for new learners I do the latter, as again for an native English speaker, that made more sense as when I thought of x words, more often a "z" sound came to mind, like with the word xenophobia. Kh doesn't really come out to the actual georgian sound, but I was able to better make the association. That was just my experience and how it stuck for me.

      Hi George, one of my friends has a channel teaching the panduri, it's called learn to play panduri. If you're looking for Georgian shows, there's things like "chemi colis daqalebi", translates to my wife's girl friends. Sort of depends what you're looking for.
