    As I always say every time I listen to Nina Teicholz, she deserves a Nobel Prize in health for her work, her writing, Ted Talks, etc.; for her exposé of people like Ancel Keys, as well as big food industry, the ridiculous dietary and health guidelines, etc. Thank heavens for her. And kudos for Jesse for always doing phenomenal videos, in long format and letting his guests speak at length. He never interrupts either which is so refreshing. Jesse you are one of the best -- you are always prepared and able to do deep dives with all your guests on your podcasts.

    I'm 78 and have been 99+% carnivore now for 18 months. High saturated fat, moderate protein, zero seed oils, as close to zero carbs as possible. I went from 7 meds to one, no more arthritis pain, no antidepressants, no hand tremors, Cardiologist took me off of all heart meds, etc. I think100 carbs a day is way too high. that is definitely not low carb.

      Great! Yes! Low carb in my book is 20 grams or less. 100 seems like very high carb if you are keto or carnivore.

    Was a cardiac nurse for 30 years. Seen this firsthand. This was invaluable information. Last five years I eliminated seed oils and products that contain them for my family. I knew the info on sodium and dietary cholesterol was wrong. The saturated fat got me but I since have changed that as well. Kudos to the Dr for her life’s work her tremendous contribution to human health!

    But my real comment is this: if the guidelines miraculously changed for the better and everyone suddenly became enlightened about what healthy foods actually are, and then they stopped eating the unhealthy foods- grains, legumes, starchy veg, fruits, anything sweet or refined, seed oils, etc etc etc… the economy would collapse!

    I've been carnivore for just over a year now. I feel great, am no longer borderline T2 diabetic and my joint pain and weight are significantly reduced. A recent blood test showed I was in the normal range for all markers with the exception of LDL cholesterol which was elevated as expected. With all of that, my doctor recommended a dietary change. The tunnel vision is absolutely amazing. Never once does she question that her beliefs regarding LDL might just be wrong.

    I was keto years ago before keto was “cool”. Keto for 5 years. The result was my testosterone tanked, sleep was terrible and my competitive running suffered. Went to 50% healthy carbs, 30% protein and 20% fat. Now all my blood work is normal. Glucose is 74. Triglycerides are 76 and HDL 89. Sleep is great. Running back on point. And I now enjoy food again. Saturated fat will gum up your insulin receptors and not allow glucose to enter muscle cells. While I was on keto my liver was producing glucose but my insulin receptor were blocked due to sat fat. I reversed this with lowering fat and increasing healthy carbs

    The guidelines support a diet that is addictive. When the population is suffering from an addiction that is supported by the government it is very hard to turn things around. People's first thoughts are "don't take away my comfort foods." They don't realize that the foods we eat makes us miserable.

    We need to change the food guidelines & the food pyramid. Most of traditional doctors are misinformed about nutrition. A doctor of 20 years told me that eating 1 egg a day can lead to heart attack lol & she is all against keto & low carb because of a patient with a condition dyslipidemia doing a ketogenic diet for 2 months & she was blaming it all to the ket diet.
    & ohh yeah she said "i dont like ketones flowing around because it makes the blood acidic". 😅😅😅

    I shared a different video about seed oils with Nina, Chris Knobbe, and "the carnivore MD" to a registered dietician and PhD in nutrition. Here was her response: Currently, the research points more to emphasizing whole foods and minimizing ultra-processed foods, rather than just eliminating seed oils. "There are a couple good consumer articles that include links to research articles explaining why it’s more effective to look a little bigger picture than just seed oils (these Harvard and Mass Gen articles). I will say that their comments in the video about saturated fats (animal fats and coconut oil, which is a plant oil high in saturated fats) are jumping over a ton of high-quality research that does indeed link saturated fat to heart disease; so I do typically recommend folks use olive oil or avocado oil, rather than animal fats." I want to send some articles back to her re: saturated fats.

    You can't call a keto diet on grams of carb intake. It's the balance of fat, protein, carbs, exogenous ketones, adipose tissue and activity level. Heaven forbid they drink alcohol.

  • @250txc

    The thing will all those exotic salts talked about at the end of the video is not necessarily about the salt itself & is more about the extra minerals that might be included in these salts. From what I understand all salts are made up of the 2 same elements.

  • @chazwyman
    @chazwyman 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    The word "refined" needs to be included here. Carbs from raw food protect you with fibre. Some of those Blue Zones can be very high carb, but they present as real food. Although some veg can be problematic, they can have a role to play in making your diet more interesting. I love some tomatoes and onions fried up with my rib-eye can often include some steamed cabbage to mash up with the fried toms and onions. But I would never include bread, or chips. If I am still hungry aftere the steak I just have an egg or two; nature's perfect complete meal. THe dangerous carbs - all sugars and any thing made with flour of any kind as these impact the digestive system very forcefully spiking BS and Insulin.

    re Dr Teicholz's comments (37:00) : The scientists and nutritionists who run "ZOE nutrition" (Prof Tim Spector et al) continually repeat how vitally important the condition of our gut microbiome is for overall metabolic health...That it's complex effects are steadily being (scientifically) unravelled. And equally they often mention fibre as a key component in improving the diversity of beneficial bacteria in our colon. It's so confusing for the general public to make sense of these opposite opinions (often based on chosen, selected and conflicting research studies). Maybe you could invite Tim Spector onto your brilliant podcast sometime soon? That would be very interesting!

    Changing the (USA) gov't dietary guidelines, which other countries, including my own of Australia, mimic is definitely a pushing poo uphill task. Here's an idea - REMOVE all 'gov't dietary guidelines' -- it's noise and gets in the way of folks taking on new science and information available via the grassroots workers and experts such as Nina. Same approach BTW to fix the IRS - unfund them beyond basic collection / administration - flat rate 5-10% tax on all income (personal and corporate), NO DEDUCTIONS. 😂
