I don't know about this rubber band, but I make catapults just for kicks and I use the band that is used inside the rim of a bicyle tire. It's the band that is between the rim and the cycle tube. Superb band; Deadly speed..!
i made one like this with some black walnut on my land really pretty wood but i am now making a green ashe slingshot so hopefully it will turn out like yours..
Nice.... I like the idea of strapping the forks together to close them up. Gonna try this - cheers John! FYI - have a look at some of my catapults on my TH-cam page!
Hello John , i am just starting out and i have cut myself some natural's and was wondering is that all the drying out it needs , 15 min at 150 to 170 ? Many thanks , your channel has been great for helping getting going , all the best , Scott ......
15 minutes on 150 to 175. But I put mine in for about an hour on 200 just to dry it before I start working on it. But remember to strip the bark first.
@sikke3 hi, i have a nice u cup ash fork in my workshop, its a little bit thinner than the one in this video, and it still has the bark on and will need cutting down, john
hi, good video, best natural slingshot i've ever seen but i have a question. maybe you say it in the video but as i'm not english is dificult for me to understand it so here's the question: which type of wood do you use for this slingshot?
hey john, i have just purchased a GameKeeper Pocket poacher but i would like a personalised Pocket rocket, please could you make me one with nice strong bands and i will pau good price please?
I would buy that catty off you I have been looking for a perfect fork for over a year I have found ones that have come close buh that's just perfect !!

jhon plzget back to me iv got the pocket poacherv on order i love catapuylts im 13 and i hunt alot can u tell me wat cammo is best 4 rabbits plz rply greart vid btw :)
Hello gamekeeper john I have recently found a really unique shaped frame from a tree. I sanded it with an electrical belt sander but it is not the best job, one fork is thinner then the other but i really wanted to keep the frame because of how good it looked. I ordered tubular bands with pouches off the internet, but until they arrived i used theraband red tubular. I had the band and pouch attached together with cable ties/zip ties perfectly and tied it on to my frame with more cable ties. This worked just fine, Until my other bands arrived. I took my theraband off and attached the new bands with cable ties again it just came lose and snapped back in my face. Secondly i tried tying metal wire around it and many layers of electrical tape but it still came lose from one end. I have no grooves around my fork also. Do you think it is my frame that is the problem or the way i am tying it around? And when I shoot with my frame side ways my projectile would bounce on the floor. it is quite in accurate. My frame is not in the shape of a v it is quite different with a v and then two vertical lines coming up from the v. PLEASE HELP ME, ANYONES OPINON IS TAKEN IN TO CONSIDERATION THANK YOU.
***** Thanks a lot man I used the african style wrapping with rubber method which is great. Only thing is that the office rubber is starting to get cracks and rips in it. do u know what I could do about that.
@CRAVERxSPRAYx You don't have to use ash wood. I made on out of a chicken tree sapling. Chicken trees grow like crazy in the southern U.S., and are very strong and flexible.
heat treading does not strengthen the wood, actually it makes it weaker. it makes it resistant to water, bugs and fungi tho. and a rly nice color ofc :D
Liam Field yes it could easily take a head off or punch the ribs in i have shot so many pigeon when i was a kid to eat for lunch and we would take rubber from the tires off old bikes and make our own and shoot em 1 rock 1 kill
stick it in the microwave it turns all the water in the wood to steam and dries the wood out without cracking it. just give it 5 mins then leave it on the side till the next day been drying mine like that for ages and had no problems
@d35788 hi, these are realy easy to make, and if u dont have the elastic you could allways link loads of elastic bands together, u can make a powerful catapult which costs nothing, be sure to subscribe because i will be uploading some more how 2 vids soon, john :)
Excellent John,....Great Video.

Thumbs up for the awesome slingshot and mainly your daughter.
I don't know about this rubber band, but I make catapults just for kicks and I use the band that is used inside the rim of a bicyle tire. It's the band that is between the rim and the cycle tube. Superb band; Deadly speed..!

@sikke3 hi, i have a nice u cup ash fork in my workshop, its a little bit thinner than the one in this video, and it still has the bark on and will need cutting down, john
How do you pull the forks in, I have a few ready to make, out of oak and blackthorn, I don't think I could pull them together to bind them?
Do them when they’re green ie, wet with sap. Don’t let them dry out.
hi, good video, best natural slingshot i've ever seen but i have a question. maybe you say it in the video but as i'm not english is dificult for me to understand it so here's the question: which type of wood do you use for this slingshot?
