this is super interesting, thank you! is there a reason some knobs are removed? i'm guessing those are attenuverters maybe, and you wanted them to be smaller?
Hey Thomas, I was just about to message you the other day through your original YT video "how play live" to ask if you could make a tutorial on how your move your projects from Ableton to Octatrack for live performance. I need some inspiration in that department (as do many others). Now I see you dont have the Octatrack (or the Electribe or kaosspad) haha. Cool to see what you're doing with the Eurorack stuff. That kinda clean, chunky, pluck sound you were making with the bitcrush sounded real nice! Keep the vides coming. Keen to see what else you're up to! Cheers :)
yes, i used to put quite long samples into the OT and basically just hit play at the start of a new track, then added melodies on top. in Ableton i added some sidechain compression from the kick drum to each track beforehand. today, i feel a lot better when stepping away from playing tracks „as they are“ as you just compete against your own studio skills otherwise. Which is a pointless fight you can never win ;) It is also a lot more fun to instead create something new on stage. also the OT‘s workflow is better when handling short samples instead of long ones. still thinking about adding the OT to this setup for breakbeat samples… but one more machine for the same nr of hands… -.-
@@neuzeitrecordings Ahh cool. That makes sense and pretty much how I imagined I would like to perform (play longer stems/loops and jam over the top). Even if it is just to get me started and confident performing live with the OT. I've just purchased a TR8S which will keep my hands fairly busy and allow full control of drums and percussion. Well thanks for sharing some tips! I look forward to more videos sharing your work!
Thanks for this lovely series! Love hearing about your routing and technical process. Only makes sense the creator of such amazing and creative modules is also an amazing forward thinking musician himself :)
Thanks again for sharing your process! Just installed 2 M4s and excited to dive in. I'd love for you to eventually cover how you compose as set, and transitioning between tracks.
parts 3/4 cover that, coming in the next few days 😉 i actually would have preferred to do the whole thing as one video but there was sponsorship involved for the video gear which required it to be a series of videos…
@@neuzeitrecordings I can work with that =) Unrelated question: Are you using that Quasar in live performance? I want lush stereo imaging, but people talk about Quasar as a module for headphones, so I've alway written it off.
it is meant for headphones and therefore probably of better use in studio environments. but i use it as a stereo reverb unit here. Also i want to have my own products in constant use for real-life quality control… :)
This was really helpful! Thanks for sharing your workflow! 😁🙏👊
Thanks for sharing your setup! It's always great to hear from someone who's interested in a hybrid system. You did some great work here

oh i see, you explain in #4 that it's for knobs you don't want to turn when performing!

I’m surprised you said a Tb-303 on steroids opposed to on acid.
Haha 😄
