When I first started in computer support I was told to " never underestimate the stupidity of the average user." This has served me well both professionally and privately ever since.
Haha, we had one user in our supported company, that called at least once every week spending an hour or more of our time with weirdest stuff he found out to produce. Everyone has made a stupid decision and EVEN those considered intelligent. The truth is we are all capable of being stupid and this happens at any given time, now THAT is the scarry part. I've been stupid so many times and lost so much, but ive also made great decisions that I still benefit from to this day. Life is a process of trials and errors. Even the most successful celebrities dropped the ball a few times . Some people are lucky to have great support and recover from their stupidity, but like I said , you may make a stupid decision at any time.
Yes, we have all made stupid decisions. But the difference between intelligent people and stupid people is that intelligent people realize they have made a mistake while stupid people continue to believe in their stupid decisions.
Several years ago, I discovered that I had the need to define stupidity. The first aspect that I decided was a key factor in stupidity is ignorance, but not ignorance alone. Being ignorant may mean we just don't know what we don't know. However, when we know but choose to ignore, for whatever reason, we have entered the realm of stupidity. If we discover that this works well for us, we utilize this process continuously to further ourselves in life. We become known as a stupid person. All of us humans have this type of stupidity in moments, but if we're smart we make a better choice even if it's inconvenient. Donald Trump is a perfect example of the former.
Donald Trump is perfect example of a stupid person with power because of his power he has the ability to convince other people to do his moronic bidding which makes his followers truly idiotic
Stupidity? What about the Biden Harris voters, who imagine that for 10 million illegal immigrants with no money jobs housing food education medical services, gold will rain from the sky ( if it rains money then inflation follows and money becomes worthless) and they will be able to pay for necessities...THAT IS STUPIDITY! Needless TO SAY, Hollywood elites do not care because Everybody will pay it in taxes, and their share is very small compared with their resources. Even with Trump, there is a bill to pay but of course it is smaller.
All I know is that I know nothing. At least, that's what my education has taught me. Frustration means knowing just enough to know what one doesn't know. Learning every day is more efficient and "fun" than any supplement can provide. At age 72, I can attest to that. Joy and serenity to all🎉☀🌷
We have lost our education systems and the media has failed (bought out by the bandit billionaires). Therefore I predict the US is doomed. Might as well party.
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. If you are referring to "formal education", then yes. But education comes in many different ways, for example, this video is a form of education. Schools teach knowledge, not thinking. Students are expected to learn the higher level and realize how to think based on knowledge.
No : the current education system is telling the kids WHAT to think, not HOW to think. This system is making totaly stupid people, easy to be manipulated by the people in power.
We all only see the world through our own lens. We, they, and I, are all restricted by our limited view. Even before we dig into the psychological aspects like ego etc...great video
The real question is: was there a moment in my life during which I behaved as a stupid? What I did? What can I do to repair? How I can avoid to behave in a stupid way in future?
I used to, and still do believe in part that bad decisions are made by people making emotional decisions rather than logical decisions. I thank you for this presentation, it expands my understanding but I need time to reconcile it with my previous observation. An aside: Several times in my life I have been in discussions where someone says "That's just stupid". My answer would always be "What is stupid about it? It's perfectly logical." And try and explain it to them, which of course they didn't want to hear or couldn't comprehend. When they were caught out they got angry.
As others have stated ..somewhere.. stupidity is willfull ignorance. So, im curious to know if those who blurted out that something was stupid even understood what you understood. Because my guess is they didnt really know that stupidity had an actual definition, and then felt maybe intimidated when you seemed to understand what they werent even aware was a real meaning. That could just make them guilty of ignorance, not stupidity. Versus, interpreting their behavior as indicative of their stupidity. First one might be [embarrassment, feeling stupid], while 2nd one, a truly stupid person would not have those feelings because he never considers he coyld be wrong. [Arrogance, beligerance to the point of making a fool of himself] ..well, stupid=fool
Emotional decisions. Sometimes, I weigh a practical choice against a principled choice that includes an emotional component. Sometimes, I knowingly select the principled choice, usually against the advice of friends. And, I pay the price for that choice. The price is usually a higher than I expected. But, I pay it without regret. A lot of people would say that's stupid. They're probably right, but I wouldn't go back in time to select the alternative.
Herein the author well described the stupidity across literates and illiterates, poor and the rich, among all classes of society simply based on the behavior positive or negative. A wonderful and logical explanation !👍🏻
I wonder if everyone possesses intelligence, helplessness, banditry, and stupidity in varying degrees. It seems stupidity develops when people are shielded from the consequences of their own actions.
Your thoughts made me think of my theory " The only reason a man or woman is rude or disrespectful to another person or even an animal, is because they forgot what it's like to have their ass whooped". Or they don't have a clue.
In this short video you have masterfully highlighted the entire problem in the U.S., particularly in regard to how education has been deliberately hijacked, and perverted - to condition and essentially handicap the populace on a grand scale, making them ripe for all the things to set in that we now see.
>>I will work hard to learn all I can about stupidity b/c I really want to contribute this knowledge to the world at large and leave it a better world than the way I found it. Thank you for your hard work. >>I remain Respectfully Serene, NHG.
The powerful truth is that, at any given moment any one can commit a stupid act, what makes us stupid is repeating the act. Some of the most intelligent people, most influential people have made stupid decisions that made us scratch our heads.
This describes my father in law. He is stupid, plus he is infected with religion. The destruction this guy has left in his wake , boggles the mind. He lacks curiosity, and he refuses to embrace change.
Stupid people are dangerous and unpredictable--I AGREE. I have a renter who lives in a little house on my property. Assuming (a dangerous thing to do) he had a normal amount of common sense, I told him if he wanted to burn trash, just go ahead. He burned a bunch of trash on a day with a roaring 30 MPH wind. One spark could have burned down the whole neighborhood, since we live in a very dry area. So I told him to ask permission each and every single time he wants to burn trash. He got mad. He was too stupid to see how stupid he was. He objected to the restriction, saying he was being careful because the trash he was burning was mostly plastic. It only takes an ember made of a little piece of paper or even a spark of heated rust from the incinerator to ignite a massive fire on such a dry day. But he's too stupid to think of that. I only burn when the dew is heavy in the morning, or immediately after a rain.
This talk put together the answers I already knew with the questions I was still asking. Thanks. Still doesn't really make it easier to anticipate the level and harm stupid people can achieve but it does allow your brain to accept it and recognize it.
Such a timely video, as I see this post election. ........ Having had a stupid person close to me, it was otherworldly how badly he made decisions. We'd discuss the pros and cons of options, then he'd just react to something and make decisions based on that. There was no foundation on which he based his life. It was just reactive... Because it was Friday and he felt like pizza, he drove drunk to get it, having drunk 12 beers! ... Nor did he ever learn from past mistakes. Near misses did not influence repeating the same idiotic moves. I could not expose myself to the danger this person presented to my sanity and safety, and got as far away as a could.
Other than math and science, my grades in school were close to a D- and i graduated. However i am surrounded by the incompetent and moronic people daily that seem to destroy everything they come in contact with. @douglasfriedman5032: Bandits don't want to be lectured. They want to benefit and (in my experience) they only change their minds by experiencing physical pain.
I apologize if this comment comes across as pedantic. In Italian, “ci” is pronounced “chi.” Therefore, Mr. Cipolla’s last name is pronounced “Chipolla.” How someone could make a video and mispronounce the author’s name of the work he is discussing is beyond my comprehension. Has the video maker never heard of “Leonardo di Vinci, or the opera composer, “Giacomo Puccini?” Has he never seen “Fettuccine Alfredo” on the menu? Talk about “stupidity!” This “stupidity,” in my book, undermines the video maker’s credibility. If he doesn’t know how to pronounce the name of the author correctly, if he hasn’t done his homework regarding the correct pronunciation of his subject’s name, how can we rely on his content? Additionally, and equally troubling, his “stupidity” is spreading “stupidity” as his viewers will ape his mispronunciation! I hope this helps.

Stupid is as stupid does.
Stupid doesn't know it's stupid - don't be stupid
Exactly, that's why stupid is as stupid does.. if they knew then they wouldn't be stupid by your logic.. perhaps now you know,,& if you don't than "stupid is as stupid does" ~ Forest Gump
" you can't fix stupid " ~ John Dope
Really……?
Thank you this book hits the nail on the head 😢!
A lack of “awareness” is a major component of stupidity.
Roji
The Stoics said the same thing. There will always be a certain percentage of people who are stupid. The only thing you can do is accept that fact, live with it, and keep it in mind when planning anything.
how about more then 50%? how would you see future of that kind of world?
💕
There's no getting away from stupid, unfortunately.
@@Andygb78 That's the point of Stoicism. It recognises that we are all human and all liable to make stupid mistakes ourselves. That is why we have to accept it as a fact of life and deal with it as it occurs.
@@mrpicky1868look at the usOa....51% of them are/were saf-bc of a very few ppl,they believed all they/he said/says! 😞😖🤥🙄
so ‘stupidity’ in this context is essentially the same as what’s classically called ‘evil’.
No, stupid in this context is acting without logic. The bandits would be closer to 'evil'. Acting to harm others for their own gain
No - "stupid" in this context is defined as being unable/unwilling to understand the consequences of one's own actions.
Perhaps it can turn to that.
@@Drygon52 Stupidity and evil is not the same but closely connected.
During WW2, the vast majority of german naz*s were not monsters, but "normal" people just swallowing the propaganda without critical thinking, without intelligence.
That is the real basis of stupidty : refuse to think, refuse the dialogue, insult the others.
Exactly what the left is doing, vomit insults like "racists", "facists", "naz*s", "far right", "Putin lovers" as arguments.
In knowledge it is the opposition betwwen the scientist approach and the dogmatic approach.
In politics it is the opposition of the democracy and the autoritarian approach.
Thank you, very clear

Just found you, and really happy about it. I like this kind of thought provoking stuff👍 Gut gemacht 😉
Absolutely brilliant!!
All I know is that I know nothing.
At least, that's what my education has taught me. Frustration means knowing just enough to know what one doesn't know. Learning every day is more efficient and "fun" than any supplement can provide. At age 72, I can attest to that. Joy and serenity to all🎉☀🌷
9:30, HAH, education systems and media are the LAST entities to even understand, yet promote critical thinking.
@@mr.anti.conservatives-u6f I was refering to formal education, yes.
No : the current education system is telling the kids WHAT to think, not HOW to think.
This system is making totaly stupid people, easy to be manipulated by the people in power.
Your summary at the end of this video is thought provoking. Thanks!
Agreed. It's gaining momentum every month. Poor education is one Contributor.
Mistake or stupid OR same?
My buddy’s old saying… “stupid should hurt”.
@rduse4125
: it does do !! But the stupid does not find out the reason of its hurt.
Thanks for sharing.. it's wonderful content
Stupidity, mediocrity, and inferiority…. 3 baddies I’m overcoming. I realize how destructive these are to myself and others.
Acknowledging your frailties a good start to growth.
Thank you, I needed an answer to the current situation in USA
😵💫 yes.
Same stupidity in Europe, maybe worst.
Great and insightful programme ; give us more !
Excellent presentation and layout of very valuable information!
Ignorance is not knowing, stupid is not knowing that you don't know.
🏆🎯
Herein the author well described the stupidity across literates and illiterates, poor and the rich, among all classes of society simply based on the behavior positive or negative. A wonderful
and logical explanation !👍🏻
Really enjoyed it
Fabulous narration about the phenomena of Stupidity. Thanks.
I wonder if everyone possesses intelligence, helplessness, banditry, and stupidity in varying degrees.
It seems stupidity develops when people are shielded from the consequences of their own actions.
Brilliant!
@@sbarr10 Well said.
Your thoughts made me think of my theory
" The only reason a man or woman is rude or disrespectful to another person or even an animal, is because they forgot what it's like to have their ass whooped". Or they don't have a clue.
Mmm… OR, maybe, when they are taught to blame others for the consequences of their own actions… 🤔
They were “taught” because their parents did the same
Reminds me of what Martin Luther King Jr. said - Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and consciousness stupidity.
Stupid people are everywhere, and 100% of them think they're not stupid.
I totally agree with him. A blessed and wonderful God's day and be safe. Amen 🙏😇

In this short video you have masterfully highlighted the entire problem in the U.S., particularly in regard to how education has been deliberately hijacked, and perverted - to condition and essentially handicap the populace on a grand scale, making them ripe for all the things to set in that we now see.

Superb video. Someone with any and all of Kamala's social handles should share this video with her. Very urgently.
Meaning? Kamela is an intelligent woman running against the stupidest man on the planet.
That was stupid
I have tried to explain this so many times, thank you for this post.
Never underestimate the actions of stupid people in large numbers.
As an historical reference I would refer you to the actions of Germany in the 1930's, BUT that can't happen here in the USA can it.
This is an excellent explanation
The powerful truth is that, at any given moment any one can commit a stupid act, what makes us stupid is repeating the act. Some of the most intelligent people, most influential people have made stupid decisions that made us scratch our heads.
Brilliant it of education, thanks.
This describes my father in law. He is stupid, plus he is infected with religion. The destruction this guy has left in his wake , boggles the mind.
He lacks curiosity, and he refuses to embrace change.
Someone suggested curiosity as an answer to stupid.
let me guess. He voted for Trump?
Informative. Our Experiences & discussions with other people should guide our consciousness
Stupid people don't know they're stupid.
Good video presentation.
This reminds me of a certain famous American
Depending on who you have in mind, you might be the problem…

This talk put together the answers I already knew with the questions I was still asking. Thanks. Still doesn't really make it easier to anticipate the level and harm stupid people can achieve but it does allow your brain to accept it and recognize it.
It has been my life's mission to steer clear of anyone dumber than myself.
Now we have the dumbest individual of all back in the white house and there is nothing smart people can do to overide the chaos that is about to be unleashed. I can at least function daily without help from anyone were these stupid individuals drag everyone around them down and make a mess of everything. //// WE ARE F'd AS A NATION, And the numbers of stupid people who voted are insane
So you think it were the intelligent people who voted in this election for the genocides in office and warmongers
And you presume you are smart? Presumptuous and arrogance.
Really ???
I assume you voted for Harris ?
This election should have been a slam dunk for the democrats. The republicans shot themselves in the foot with the abortion issue.
ALL they had to do was put up a decent candidate.
Keep rewarding the democrats with your vote. See if anything changes.
Trump....
Bring back our industry, jobs, profits and the taxes all those things used to pay HERE.
Stop the never ending, avoidable, EXPENSIVE (borrowed money) wars.
He canceled the "secret". TPP trade agreement. Secret for a damn good reason.
Forced the Europeans to pay more for their share of NATO.
Which one of those do you disagree with ?
I'm just scratching the surface.....
And, I'm not a Trump voter, not a hater or lover of Trump.
Very educative
Okay, so some of my questions have been answered. There's just nothing to be done but avoid what you can.
I'll try harder to be more helpful and more intelligent. Right now we have to many bandits and they wield great power. I like your teaching.
@douglasfriedman5032: Bandits don't want to be lectured. They want to benefit and (in my experience) they only change their minds by experiencing physical pain.
Simply put: A stupid person is ignorant and closed minded. Of course they're dangerous!
The current state of our societies is proof we have stupid tools in politics and law enforcement,
useful, thanks
Foolish fool
No, he's pronouncing the name the English way. By the way, intelligent people are not so quick at drawing conclusions and naming people. Why are you so unrealistic?
Really interesting !!!
The election is a great example
