Teddy is one of the most incredible artists that I've ever heard. Original, and absolutely nondestructive when he does the cover even though he puts his own feel on it. Many of his songs I can't listen to without being brought to tears this is one of them. Music runs through my veins and songs like this definitely speak to me but I can listen to the original and not get teared up but I can't listen to his version the same way. For some reason he conveys emotion much better through his voice than the originals in a lot of cases. New sub figured I'd drop a comment.

I think you really need to listen to the original by Bonnie Raiit and the live cover by George Michael. All three are wonderful but different styles and sounds.
Bonnie Raitt is the original artist but Teddy stole it and made it his. Bonnie doesn't have the grit and rasp he does. That means a lot to me. Her version is beautiful tho. This version makes me cry because he makes me feel it
You really should do the original. It's a very different vibe than what Teddy gives. The inflections on the lines are different, the emphasis is in different places, and it gives a similar yet VERY different feel. Yeah, that heartbreak is still there, but there's an ache you get with the original, a sense of hopelessness, of resignation, that I didn't get with Teddy's version. So, yeah, check it out. That being said, Teddy has a wonderful voice. I enjoy hearing him create. And, if you're looking for suggestions for similar artists, check out Sam Ryder...you won't be disappointed in the slightest!
