    I have stage 4 breast cancer with bone mets. Triple positive her2 negative. I am in my 2nd cycle of my oral ctemo. My breast lump was 9cm before I start my first cycle. It was reddish and painful that I could not sleep at night and that last for 1 week. On my fisrt cycle it shrunk already and dried up like a dried prune, no more redness and pain. This month is my 2nd cycle and I can tell you that it is smaller than my first.
    I know that being strict with my diet helps a lot on the good results of my chemo apart from the medication. I prepare my own food. The rest of the family have their own separte food. I did not have side effects like the others who takes IV like loosing taste buds but I prefer it (my food) less tasty. I only put little salt. I am from the Philippines and I cannot afford expensive diets. I cannot even afford to buy milk that suits for my diet coz it is expensive. But sometimes I buy like chia seeds, healthy nuts and organic green tea. That is the only expensive food that I have ever bought for myself. Other than that, none. If broccoli is expensive I will use other green leafy vegestable like pechay or cabbage and lots of tomatoes and onion and garlic. I may not afford expensive diets but at least there are other cheaper cruciferous at local markets.
    Do not lose hope. Do not stress out. Positive mindset and stay happy. Exercise and lots of sun (it is free so...) That is the best medicine. God bless us all. 🙏🙏🙏

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This confuses a lot of people. The difference is that, in food sources, the quantity of antioxidants is the same as found in nature. The quantity in supplements is far higher than that found in natural sources. The less people mess with nutrients, the better.

    Can you clarify something for me? I’m on chemo treatment called red devil. You said not to take antioxidant vitamins as it can block chemo from working for you. So what about the antioxidants in fruit and veggies? Should I eat less of those or is it different eating them vs getting them in a vitamin form? Also I like to juice carrots and apple and cucumber with spinach and celery. Would you recommend I continue or stop that? I’ve been pretty good at going for walks and maintaining my weight but the juices do have antioxidants. Please advice me what I should do

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Doxorubicin (brand name: Adriamycin, sometimes nicknamed the "red devil") does work in part through oxidation. In general, antioxidants in their natural form (food) do not have the types of antioxidants we worry about decreasing the effectiveness of treatment.

    I am always active and exercise daily. So during chemo, I exercised almost daily too, but just not as intense, but with lots of walking, low-impact, and tons of yoga and meditation. I ate keto and lots of homemade broth, red meat and eggs. I couldn't eat all cauliflowers, broccoli, etc. They bloated me so much that I couldn't breathe properly. I ate lots of chicory, radicchio and some spinach. I am now in complete remission. Actually just done with radiation and still need to do 1 year of antibody therapy...and since I am ER,PR positive, so I need to take tamoxifen for 2 years FIRST. I am really worried about the side effects :-(((

      I'm having two lumpectomies on my right breast next week. I'm also ER positive and PR positive and I was told I'll have to take estrogen blockers for ten years. I'm also very worried about side effects. I'm worried about radiation and chemotherapy long term side effects or chances of getting leukemia in my bones from it later on. I'm more worried about that stuff than having surgery. The commercials on TV listing all the side effects to medicine sure doesn't help ease the mind either! My wife had a single mastectomy followed by chemo/immunotherapy. She was diagnosed in Feb. It all finished a couple months back and she went in for follow up mammogram & ultrasound yesterday. But she saw 6 or 7 small black dots on her ultra. She couldn't feel them & she can feel no lumps under her armpits or collarbones. Can the cancer still be local? The Drs told her the initial tumor didn't reach her lymph nodes. Now we have to wait for the consultation in 3 days. Just terrified for her & sick with worry. What could the small dots be?

    I did not hear you mention avoiding sugar at all cost ! You did mention “calorie restriction” Why won’t you bring up cancer thriving on Sugar ? For everyone out there diagnosed with Cancer and undergoing treatment, you must avoid sugar at all cost !

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      While theoretically sugar can "feed" cancer, there is no evidence that cancer thrives on sugar. It is nearly impossible to avoid sugar. It is a necessary building block of energy. Added sugar has disadvantages, such as fatigue, weight gain, etc., but it does not feed cancer.

    • @Paula-ok9ib
      @Paula-ok9ib 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And saturated fat feeds it as well, more then processed sugars.

    • @lindajones4849
      @lindajones4849 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      First, added sugar or sucrose is actually two molecules joined together :glucose and fructose. Now ultraprocessed food- any food with a label containing nutritional yeast info - contains high levels of added sugar. Too high to be consumed on a daily basis if you want to stay healthy. High intake of ultraprocessed food has been linked with early death and chronic illness such as heart disease and cancer. For every 10% increase in calories from processed food your chance of dying increases by 14% . ,( these numbers are from population studies with sample size of about 500 ,000). Dr Rick Johnson has recently published paper linking fructose consumption to Alzheimer's and dementia. I suggest googling it. The brain can change glucose to fructose and since fructose and fructose inhibits mitochondrial function , thus downregulating metabolism and causing weight gain. This is a useful survival mechanism IF you are facing winter food shortage. This my mechanism can be harmful if triggered all the time. Do your research, there is much to gain by eliminating junk food.

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Your wife is fortunate to have you involved in her care. The best thing you can do to help her is to ask her what she needs from you. Partners can feel powerless, and while your instinct might be to either detach or to hover or "overmanage." I believe that if you ask her what would be most helpful to her, you can't go wrong. Of course, she may not know what she wants in any moment. Another key thing is to get support for yourself. It's easy to feel powerless when watching your wife go through something this hard. If you can connect with friends or support group for partners, you will be even better to help care for your wife. In other words, you want to be as well-resourced as possible. You being stressed, while natural, won't help her.

      There are a lot of reasons not to eat a lot of carbohydrates. Excessive carbohydrates like the ones you mention cause our insulin levels to rise, which is not a good thing on multiple levels, not only cancer. However, in moderation, there are no foods that have to absolutely be avoided. Moderation in everything is the key. Thanks for your question.

    If metatastic lymph node Carcinome primary breast consider breast cancer?

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We think you are asking about positive lymph nodes in someone with breast cancer. Even with the pathology report describes "metastatic cancer" in the lymph nodes, this is actually regional disease from a staging standpoint. And yes, breast cancer metastases in lymph nodes is still primary breast cancer.

      Thanks for coming here to watch and to ask your question. Your grandma is fortunate to have you. Without being able to do an exam, it is difficult to assess the role of drainage in your grandmother. While it is likely that this is normal post-surgery, if there is discomfort or any other concern, this would be a good reason to call the office of the doctor who did the surgery. Wishing you and you family all the best.

I try to move and do simple exercises at home now since I am still recovering from the operation. Would you please advise when would be the best time to start going to a gym or yoga classes? @yerbba  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Starting an exercise routine post-mastectomy is a fantastic goal, and it's great to hear you're motivated to make this change. Generally, it's advisable to begin with light activities, such as walking or gentle home exercises, and gradually increase intensity based on how you feel. Consulting with your doctor about when to start more structured exercises like gym workouts or yoga is key-they can provide personalized advice based on your recovery status.

Turkey tail, which is derived from the mushroom, Coriolus versicolor, and goes by many other names, has been studied across many cancers and may have some benefit for people with gastric cancer and colorectal cancer as an adjunct to chemotherapy. I have had patients take turkey tail to help improve their tolerance of chemotherapy. Two notes here: people should not take mushrooms that they find on their property unless they are experts in mycology and two, my husband and I have genuine turkey tail mushrooms in the forest where we live.

    sitting under direct sun light with naked body is good for breast cancer ?

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the question. There would be no direct benefit of sitting unclothed in the sun in terms of breast cancer. Sunshine is useful in producing vitamin D through the skin, but our skin is much less efficient at doing this after we hit the age of 30. Avoiding excessive skin exposure to the sun's rays is advisable. That is, avoiding burning is important.

    After surgery with incidental finding on prophylactic, RIGHT breast of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma ER 0, PR 0, HER2 3+ IHC, Grade 3, at least 10mm in size, but by way the specimen was cut, unclear how large. DCIS present as well. All margins negative.

      @yerbba  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for writing, and we're so sorry to hear about the mouth sores. In addition to the tips we have in our video about eating during chemotherapy, we can also recommend that you ask your medical team if you can hold ice in your mouth during the chemotherapy infusion. You want to keep your mouth very cold. This causes the blood vessels to constrict and decreases the concentration of chemotherapy that gets to the mouth. There is high quality nursing research has shown that this can decrease mouth sores. Probiotics may also be helpful and certainly won't hurt other than the out of pockets costs.

      Our bodies are good at keeping our sugar levels low in the bloodstream. There are other reasons to avoid sugar, however. Milk has its own kind of sugar. In moderation, you should be able to eat what you want. A balanced diet with less processed food is favored over a lot of added sugar, salt, and other things that are added to food.

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There is a connection between diabetes and cancer. It's probably the higher levels of insulin that are produced by the body in response to sugar. Keeping our insulin levels steady and not too high is good for many reasons. The key is to make sure that you have less processed food, more whole foods, and fruits and vegetables.
