    In high school we were taught to wrap and have our head near there hip because head to head is illegal and dangerous but the game is so fast there is almost no time to wrap unless you got a good angle and also we love watching people getting hit hard by even if it’s improper technique but we look up to these players who through there whole body into the tackle so we do it to

    The term you’d hear for the QB fumbling during a sack would be “strip sack” since the defender stripped the ball away as he sacked the QB

    Into the 1980's, tackling in American football was more similar to rugby than it is now, although there were the occasional hard hits like today, they weren't as frequent. By the the turn of the century, it had evolved into what you see now. Been watching both codes of rugby for years...English Premiership, Pro 14, SuperLeague, Heineken Cup, RL Super League, NRL. Also watch Australian rules football, Gaelic football & hurling, lol.

  • @a00141799
    @a00141799 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    As I always remind you Kabir. The big hits are usually an attempt to "separate man from ball" because if you get the player to drop the ball he loses any yardage he had gained or if he fumbles you get the opportunity to recover the ball for your team and advance it. To be fair, if you watch an entire football game you will see that most tackles are similar to rugby tackles where you wrap up your opponents. Videos like this just show the big hits and not the ordinary, (much less spectacular but safer and more technically sound) arm tackles. And never underestimate the intimidation factor of the big hits. Athletes in every sport use it all the time to gain a psychological advantage. 💜🏈🏉
    Exciting and fun reaction Kabir. You are the man!!!😁😁😁😁😁

Being a buckeye fan I watched every game he played at Ohio state and he is so different from alot of quarterbacks when most quarterbacks get rid of the ball you don't see them do what he would do in running to catch up to block for the person with the ball. That hit he took in this video at first watch I thought for sure he was done but only staying out one play and right back in. If they have a longest games in college football history, you should do those. The overtime rules are different than NFL (I think playoff games etc. are similar) and can go for 5 or 6 overtimes before someone wins. Those are edge of the seat intense moments and the final is always huge after that

    The hit at 12:40 shows a big difference between the sports. The player has been running full speed for about 40 yards and the opposing player might be looking the other way. That's when it gets dangerous and why they've added stricter rules about how you can hit someone.

    I remember one time, maybe 30 years ago, when there was a Welsh rugby team visiting Kansas City. I was working in a bar, & it was way late at night, & the team stopped in, already pissed, & got even drunker, & decided to play a match. So, they went out into the street - very crowded, people & cars, & just started playing - oblivious to everyone & everything around 'em. I think the police finally had to pull 'em out of danger, as I recall. You won't find NFL players, or any American footballers at any level, doing that sort of thing. Anyway - yeah, I've always known how tough rugby players can be. And, I've watched the sport off & on for 40 years or so.

    Both Rugby and Murica Football hit with differences. NFL and college they have more time to stay fresh between plays and I have seen NFL players using oxygen while the offence or defence is on the field. A NFL offence could have hundreds of plays planned. Thats why you hear the quarter back using code words, he may see a blitz coming and change the play seconds before the snap. Also a team may have 2 good running backs to switch if one is gassed, that goes for a lot of players. It is like gladiators paying chess.

The rule the NCAA made is that whether or not it was intentional is Targeting, so teams are able to get star defensive players removed from the game by selling it well. you can see it in one of the clips with the guy Carter (Amari Carter, Miami Hurricanes vs. Louisville)

Anyway - yeah, I've always known how tough rugby players can be. And, I've watched the sport off & on for 40 years or so.

    You can't do helmet to helmet legally anymore. You also can't grab a ball carrier by the back of his collar and pull him down backwards in any level of football. However if you grab him by the hair & pull him down backwards in the NFL that's legal. Not sure if you can do the same in the lower leagues. There have been recent rule changes in the last 10-20 years to make the game less violent than it was in the past. Some rules have been changed to protect the quarterback since he's the most important player on the team.

      @@kabirconsiders Yeah. The game was also reformed in the early 1900s as well to make it less dangerous. In 1903 25 players died, in 1905 18 more died.
      The injury to President Theodore Roosevelt's son caused him to make the leaders of College Football change the rules to ban such plays as the flying wedge from scrimmage. Other rule changes were the addition of the forward pass, and increasing the distance required to gain in 3 downs from 5 yards to 10 yards. Wedge blocking on kickoffs remained legal until the early 2000s.
      Interesting video on TR's life is "Theodore Roosevelt, manlier than you" here on TH-cam. The teddy bear is named after him because he refused to shoot a bear that had already been clubbed & tied to a tree as he saw this as unsportsmanlike.

    No, in American football, the players can't hit each other wherever or whenever they want. There are strict rules, for safety, & those rules are updated most every season. So, a lot of the hits you may have seen in some of the videos in the past are now illegal.
