As a highland piper for the last 50 years, in the last couple of years, influenced by Brighde, I have fallen in love with playing C pipes. This has been a great episode.
I really enjoyed that Finlay. I first met Hamish Moore in 1984 when I decided to learn the 'Cauld Wind Pipes'. I had been playing the Highland pipes for about 15 years. I was stationed in Redford Barracks with the Argyll & Sutherland Highalanders at the time. I joined a weekend workshop in St Andrews and stayed in a B&B run by Sheena Wellington. I borrowed a set of practice smallpipoes from Hamish for free and was hooked. I first joined the Lowland & Borders Pipers Society in 1984 and became friends with Jock Agnew who joined around the same time I think. My first set was from Heriot & Allen in Bb, second set from Hamish and third set from McCallum Bagpipes.
Hamish & Fin, your latest CD "The Piper & the Maker" is super fab! I love listening to all the tunes. Thanks for the interview, Finlay! Great stuff.
"... the minute I strapped them on, I knew my life had changed!" and "We made the revival happen!" I love it!!!
