Yes always good to see a line reopen Brian. I had the pleasure of talking to some locals at Seaton Delaval station while I was there and they were all over the moon about the reopening. Certainly a bit of a party atmosphere on the train I travelled back on to Newcastle Central. Thanks for watching the video and for your comment. Regards - Allan.
Amazing Allan! So glad you were there to see the first service after all those years, a great bonus for all the locals. Glad it was a 158 to kick things off and the same can be said about yoyr team yesterday, a great result! Enjoyed cheers Nick.
Thank you very much Nick. I decided to avoid Newcastle on the outward journey to avoid the bigger crowd. It was really windy here and it did spoil the sound quality on the video. However I'm glad I was there to see the first train. Good to see NUFC start winning again. Good luck to City in the Derby later :-) Best regards - Allan.
Great bit of history to watch Allan, there will be many enthusiasts from all over the country wanting to ride that line now. Thank you Allan for sharing this with us.
Thanks for your comments Mike. I noticed a lot of Southern accents today on the train going back to Newcastle so I think a few have made a weekend of it. Cheers - Allan.
Yes it;s a good thing that Ashington now has a quick rail connection to Newcastle city centre. It will have lots of benefits. Thanks for watching. Cheers - Allan. :-)
Thankfully the Metro was running OK and I got there ok via West Monkseaton and taxi. The wind was a bit of a problem. Thanks for watching Jeff. Cheers - Allan.
Oh Allan some sad news, Keith Bellamy of Smile video trains passed away last Sunday in hospital after a short illness, he was a dear friend, a true Gentleman.
Aww that is so sad Nick. :-( I had the pleasure of meeting Keith twice in Carlisle when Lady June use to travel around the country with him. I had some lovely chats with both of them. What a big miss he will be on TH-cam and on the stations. His videos always cheered me up and made me smile. He was indeed a true gentleman. Thank you very much for letting me know Nick. Best regards - Allan.
No problem Allan i knew you had met him and June, sadly never met her, never forget the day we met at Piccadilly back in July 2019,spent half a day with him a right old personality a one off, he will be sorely missed not only here but all over the world.
Thanks for viewing Allan. I never used the line before it closed. I can't say I recall much about it apart from what I read about it. I was only 11 when it closed and just starting out on my railway adventures. Cheers - Allan. :-)
I live down the road in Durham, yet I hadn't even heard of this project. The thing is though, you hear about projects like this all of the time, only for it to be a load of hot air. Therefore, you don't take them seriously and don't really listen
I can understand what you mean. So many projects in the pipeline and so few successful. However years of hard work have paid off on this particular one. It maybe hasn't has the limelight like other rail projects have (like Crossrail in London). Hopefully you can maybe have a ride on the new line soon. Thanks for watching the video. Regards - Allan.
The line and this station officially reopened today 15th Dec with the new national timetable. Some stations along the new line are not yet reopen however, as they are not complete. Thanks for watching Alan. Cheers- Allan.

Class 158 is my favourite DMU
Good to hear. They are good. Thanks for viewing.
Cheers - Allan.
Re-openings are always good news, Allan. A nice memory trip for you. But, do you remember the line/ did you ride on it before it was closed?
Thanks for viewing Allan. I never used the line before it closed. I can't say I recall much about it apart from what I read about it. I was only 11 when it closed and just starting out on my railway adventures. Cheers - Allan. :-)

@@allan5919 Indeed, I hope to do exactly that!
Was the line re-opening or just the station? Nice one, anyway, and some rare good news!
