Another great video Gary and excellent build 👏 I have to admit that I do like a P-40 such a lovely looking aircraft. I'm tempted to great my 1/48 Hobbycraft P-40 out and start it. Keep up the great work Gary 👍
I really enjoyed this kit! Airfix was sharp in doing this B type when the only other option was 50s Monogram or Hobbycraft. Never built a Trumpeter or Bronco version of the B & wonder if they offer any improvements to this very good kit😊
An amazing build. I've been watching your channel for a long. I think this could be your best ever. I've loved your journey in building and you just keep getting better and better. Well done! Can't wait for the next build!
That was really satisfying to watch. I enjoyed building the 1:72 Tomahawk. One day I'll yield to temptation and buy one of Airfix's larger Curtis aircraft. I think you got the weathering absolutely spot on.
Hi Gary. What a gorgeous build mate! Looks fantastic and it seemed to go together really well. The pre shading makes a big difference too. Really cracking finish. Cheers Gary, take care mate 👍 👊
Gary, firstly may I thank you for your great build films, I am disabled being only able to use one hand your build films help me decide wether I will be able to tackle a kit. Please keep up the good work. Many thanks.grant
Hello Mr.gary!nice work maestro. Seems 2me like a nice mojo build.well done building.thank u4ur efforts.i truly appreciate them.thank u4sharing.of course you deserve a thumb up.with best regards and sticky greetings from Brandenburg germany.yours truly.your modellmate.christian
The kit has lovely detail and beautiful fit, but you didn't mention the major advantage it has over its rivals. It is the only 1/48 early Tomahawk kit that has the proper cockpit floor. As you can see at 02:45, the cockpit floor is curved. That is because in reality the cockpit floor is the top of the wing. All the other kits have the floor as flat, which is wrong. As a result the cockpit side detail is all wrong because the spacing is incorrect. Airfix were proud of having got it right, and they should be. The kit is lovely! Now for all those 112 Squadron shark-mouths . . .
Superb result Gary. You shouldn't have to justify your decision to use pre-shading though. It's not too my taste but it's not my model so it's your choices.
Not too long - you could probably do this kit in a weekend. Difficult to say how many hours exactly as I tend to have three or four kits on the go at any given time! But this is vert straightforward and very enjoyable.
I have one of the 1/48 P-40 kits and it was missing the clear parts and I have gotten no where with the Airfix company. I am blue in the face trying to get them. What do I do, I don’t want to start the kit with no clear parts. Thank you
On early USAAC and USN aircraft, the front of the propellers were often unpainted, sometimes with a combination of yellow, red and blue bands at the tips whilst the rear faces of the blades were black so as not to dazzle the pilot. Only later in the war were blades painted black on both faces with the familiar yellow tips.
At the risk of teaching your grandmother to suck eggs, have you ever thought about using a black primer, then white fill in? I t works for me and cuts out a step in the build, Good build by the way, always like your content, feel free to disagree, I'll still watch.
A bit I see everyone miss when they do a P40, the filler caps behind the pilot, Red for Fuel and Yellow for oil
Aha, probably because it's not on the decal sheet... I'll see what I can do.
I wish airfix would kit a A-36 Apache
From your mouth to Airfix's ear.

Thanks mate! Did enjoy it and I liked playing with oils for weathering, etc.
Nice Pearl Harbor defender.
Thanks Gary, I think mine may have moved up the build list as a result of this!
Great work Gary very nice build and finish 😎👍

Great job Gary, the 1/48s definitely have very good details.
I have 3 of these to build, one for each squadron of the AVG, The Flying Tigers.
Proper-depth wheel wells! Hurray.
Great work once again Gary
Hi Gary.

Thanks Rob! It is a very straightforward kit but makes a decent plane.

Looked fantastic, Gary! So, how many hours was the build - or more accurately, how long was it on your bench!?
It was on and around my branch for about two weeks, but at the same time I was building 2 or 3 other things too as well as other videos.
👍

Didnt they have yellow tips on the propeller blades ?
I've seen pictures with and without - easy to rectify though with an AK pen!

Are you feeling alright Gary, you sound like you have a hard time breathing in this video. Still a good video 😊
Just a bit of a sore throat - nothing dramatic! Cheers, G

Something I will try Phil. Always want to try new techniques!
