Anxiety and stress can mess up the peristalsis (and migrating motor complex) action of the intestines, not just giving you IBS but also forcing bacteria up into the small intestine (SIBO).
SIBO and IBS will create anxiety. Gas pressure and such can stimulate the vagus nerve and mess up your day with panic attacks, faster heart rate, and palpitations.

You just told my story. I have gone back and forth for years, trying keto, trying carnivore. I’d go from 100% convinced that diet was the cure. I’d read comments from others saying it completely cured their anxiety. Then I would read other comments that it did nothing. Same thing with medication and things like CBT. I go from being all on board to skeptical. Talk about an emotional roller coaster when you are already on the biggest ride from the anxiety. I’ve been down so many rabbit holes, just trying to figure out what was the cure. I think bc anxiety is so physical you believe that it has to be something physically wrong. I’m still trying to get to the other side but I’m glad you made this video bc I was just thinking maybe it was time to try keto or carnivore again. I think I will stick with just trying to eat healthy while using more of the methods to hand Dr Claire Weekes talk about. Acupuncture and buteyko breathing are some other rabbit holes I’ve gone done. What’s weird is that I have been convinced by all of them that they are the cure. I’m actually currently waiting for a breathing device I ordered on Amazon🤦‍♀️.

simple tips from me dealing w anxiety for around 5yr now.
      1. no caffeine
      2. optimize sleep; no blue light, expose urself to sun in the morning, eat 3-4hr before bed, black room, and high dose magnesium glycinate + glycine to relax ur nervous system.
      3. Optimize hormones / thyroid.
      4. correct nutritional deficiencies; magnesium, D3
      5. Fermented foods to aid a poor gut biome: gut bacteria produce feel good hormones like serotonion, dopamine and GABA.
      6. Nose breathing allways; belly breathe.
      7. Diet: NO INNFLAMATORY FOODS. so no wheat, grains, gluten, conventional dairy, artificial sweetners like aspartame/sucralose.

I completely agree with the gut and brain connection and I want more people to talk about this. I’ve been struggling with the worst panic attacks and anxiety in my entire life these last 2-3 years (I’m 34 years old). I always had mild anxiety all my life, I grew up a sensitive kid and was always shy and was nervous in social occasions and standing on stage, etc., but that is somewhat normal for lots of people.
But, dang, now and these past 2-3 years I’m deathly afraid of completely random situations that involve people looking at me, I am all of the sudden scared to ride chairlifts (I live in a ski town and now I refuse to ride a chairlift without a bar because I fear having a panic attack and falling off), I’m frightened going to the doctor’s office (the dentist even, I literally feel like I’m going to die going to these places), I’m afraid of new job opportunities and interviews/interviewers, I’m panicky seeing old friends that I haven’t seen in forever, the random list of fears goes on. It’s been the weirdest and hardest time of my life dealing with panic and anxiety (I never had a panic attack in my life before these last few years). Anyway, to wrap up my story - I tested positive for H. Pylori in February 2023 with biopsies showing moderate gastritis and esophagitis. My stomach has basically been inflamed for years and I truly think this has largely contributed to my abrupt panic attacks and anxiety. I’m still healing my gut, I still have symptoms of gastritis (it takes years to heal), but I feel like this was what I was needing to take care of. I think everyone who is experiencing a whole different level of panic and anxiety needs to get their gut checked out. H. Pylori is basically found in 50% of the world’s population, and it can wreak havoc in your stomach (and change your mental well being) if you aren’t aware of it. I’m on the road to recovery now with diet changes (mainly to keep heal my gastritis).

I’ve done acupuncture, Ayurveda, protein, balance foods, eat according to my metabolism as a lifestyle thing but not for the anxiety part. I avoid fake processed foods. I take Ashwagandha cause helps with hormones but the anxiety and panic: only what this channel says.

DPDR was never an issue for me, I noticed it… but the other symptoms were way worse…
I had these brain zaps that make me feel like my head is pressed up against a box fan, tremors, numbness and tingling from my cheek down to my arm, spots in my vision… my doctor is great and I got an MRI and CT that week… totally fine…
Then there was the normal stuff like fatigue, insomnia (waking up every 2-3 hours or just only sleeping 3 hours from like 1:30 to 4:30), dizziness, feeling cold, muscle pains and gut issues…
My friends… I struggled for 4 years… I had vestibular necrosis and then about 2 years later a cancer scare that was hand waved away until I saw a specialist… I was on high, high alert and my panic attacks had me locked in the bathroom away from my family freaking out for hours, not just a couple but like 3-4 on average… sometimes I feel like I should make a vid series, show my hospital reports, because I hear heart palpitations and hyperventilation and I’m like… that’s life, I don’t even consider those symptoms… this is the 4th year and everything is coming together, I’m getting better at balancing being alert and keeping anxiety alive…
Basically, I’m just saying anxiety can really mess with you, but if you are getting better, focus on the better and don’t back track… you are the only one keeping anxiety alive… it is very hard, distraction is key, and practice makes perfect, soon an intrusive thought will come in, you can label it, and turn your focus away with relative ease…
I had very little help, it was TH-cam, lots of articles on Google (nothing on symptoms, just how to deal with anxiety) and (this kind of diverts from Shaans methods a little) living a very healthy life built on the 4 pillars of health… nutrition (easy for me), Exercise (easy for me), relaxation and sleep (hard for me)… but it’s possible… and they all kind of fit together…
Much love and good luck to you all…
And Shaan… keep helping the people my friend, you are admired and respected

Anxiety journey started last summer I didn’t know it was a panic attack and got stuck in the cycle I been educating myself on anxiety understanding why my body is dealing with physical symptoms which has help me but now my physical symptoms are getting more intense my nerves symptoms is getting more sensitive this last week and today I been in the state of anxiety where I’m dealing with these symptoms throughout the whole day I do get breaks from it here and there but it’s constantly there. When I’m at work it’s so hard to get through the 10 hours and when I go to the gym I feel anxious scared but I still workout. Idk why I’m like this when I already been exposing myself for months I been eating healthy drinking a lot of water and sleeping but still feeling terrible physical symptoms. Been to the doctors 6 times did my blood work they told me everything is fine but I never seen a specialist cause the doctor told me they will say it’s just anxiety so he is saving me some time going through that rabbit hole. Man ive been having anxiety for 3 years. First year was back to back panic attacks every day. Literally lost 40lbs and thinking I'm going to die. First panic attack i was for sure thinking I'm dying and was even ok with it at that moment since it seemed like its happening. Eneded up passing out and fast forward medication has really helped and now my mindset has been strong so i rarely get anxiety. Sometimes it creeps up on or gives me symptoms but i just relax and breathe. The Quran relaxes me and being kind to my parents and wife makes me happy that if anything does happen i lived a life with love and that god has his plan. Death will just return men back to my lord. I have been dealing with this since my early thirties now in my late seventies. Doctor's when I was younger would dismiss it as over breathing, just would not take it seriously. I have been through a lot of what others have done, found out eventually did have the Hali bacteria, was treated but through the procedures that the doctor put me through ended up very ill , I went into shock and went through hell for five long years ruined my mental health, I am still having very severe problems with my gut, three years ago was so ill that I lost 3 1/2 stone in weight , no doctor really very interested, or casualty just gave me an anti sickness pill ,a anti acid pill and sent me home , I then went into what I would describe as flee and flight , my husband couldn't cope so my two sons shared a two week tagteem to work from mine , and through looking for help at a chemist who phoned amy doctors , I was given an appointment and guess what ? Put on antidepressants and had to sort myself out with help from my husband and sons. I have reflux, IBS, taking Omeprozol in a morning but still have symptoms that take over every couple of weeks and get quite ill. Sorry didn't mean to off load all this but once I started it was hard to stop. 😥😘

Shaan, I'm confused whether my anxiety stems from gastric problems or an increase in gastric acid. the problem is that often when I've only slept for 1-2 hours I wake up with a physical sensation of nausea, sometimes to the point of gerd and very often belching which gives me panic attacks. BTW, this is the 7th year I have had this anxiety disorder

I would like to add something to what you said Shaan. I have seen many videos and read many articles on this particular subject. I have seen a video where one researcher was talking about the idea that if Gut To Brain access exists then the reversal should also exists. That is Brain To Gut access. Basically your brain health/mood can effect your gut microbiome. I don't remember the exact source I have heard it. Maybe in coming years we might see more research on that area.
Also there is this channel called 'Dr. DiNezza - Gut Microbiome Queen', the channel is about IBS (she is a chiropractic, not modern medicine doc. But she herself recovered from gut issues). In one of her videos she shared an experience about taking a coconut milk based food but later she started doubting whether it was 100% coconut milk or whether it contained any lactose. Then she her stomach started to gassing up. Then later when somebody confirmed her that it doesn't contain any lactose at all the symptoms when away. The stomach deflated. So I think the fear factor can make nerves system act weird even in the case of stomach related issues.
By the way. I haven't had a panic attack for 3 years since I read your e-book FEARLESS and started putting things in to practice. I had setbacks like not having panic attack for a while and then I suddenly get one. But I believed in my ability to recover and bounced back from it. Your are doing great work brother. Hello, I have a question about the AWARE method: you say I should not avoid the triggers but simply watch them, but what if I realize I can actually eliminate the trigger? For me I think the stressor is disordered eating, whenever I feel unwell I fall into an ed and this triggers dpdr. I could just watch the dpdr and say „well that’s because of the ed“ or I could work on recovering from the ed and I automatically wouldn’t need the dpdr anymore. What should I focus on?? Thanks in advance :)

The more I read about science it says that regular exersice is good for us dealing with depression and anxiety.

Hey shaan,I would like to point out an opinion people and therapists might say about anxeity, they say that anxeity is increased within time as long as you don't "take care it"(with therapy and etc),I don't know if you have already made videos about that but I would like to see your opinion about it.
By the way,the meaning of anxeity increases in this case, when a person have symptoms which are manageable, without a "therapy" it will grow.

Here is my TOP tips for AIDING Anxiety. Please thumbs up so people can see (VALUABLE).
    1. no caffeine
    2. optimize sleep; no blue light, expose urself to sun in the morning, eat 3-4hr before bed, black room, and high dose magnesium glycinate + glycine to relax ur nervous system.
    3. Optimize hormones / thyroid. Low testosterone for men = anxiety.
    4. correct nutritional deficiencies; magnesium, D3
    8. Get tested for heavy metals, and possible look into chelation therapy. (mercury, arsenic, lead etc).

Did you watch the video? Don’t do any of these things to cure anxiety. You do these things for your health.
You know what’s better than all this? Doing what Shaan says and learn to respond to your symptoms and desensitize your nervous system.

@@OGAesthetics I went from bed-ridden, living with my parents, not working, and agoraphobic to running a business, traveling the world, seeing friends consistently, and doing whatever I want without fear. I’d say I know a couple things.
Not saying your list is bad, but doing all of this with the sole purpose of “fixing” your anxiety is the wrong approach. It’s all external.
You’re creating a checklist of crutches that won’t guarantee anything.
The only way out is to learn to accept and quit fearing the symptoms. Over time your nervous system will desensitize like mine did and you can drink all the coffee you want, get shoddy sleep once in a while, eat what I want, and not worry about a bunch of deficiencies.
Just saying man. Listen to Shaan. The dude knows what he’s talking about.

I think diet is very important for well being but it won’t cure your nervous system . It can help you feel better in other ways but it won’t cure an anxiety disorder. What’s crazy is that you brain and how it’s wired can actually effect your gut too visa versa . Focus on calming the nervous system. I’ll tell you this carnivore and all those diets keto did nothing for the anxiety . After recovering though eating healthy made me feel better energy wise and mood wise . I also had better gym performance . After healing anxiety it def can impact you in many positive ways . The more extreme I went the worse I actually got because it just made me more obsessive

Diets are just misinterpreted, if your doc said that you need to avoid some sort of food - it's ok, but to do some yourself. Eating healthy is just to avoid foods you're get sleepy after - it's a sign of stress, fast food for example, and adding a more diversity in your meals

For anyone who's suffering from anxiety disorder stay the hell away from antibiotics cuz they kill your healthy microbes and bacteria in your guts and that can realy mess things up
