You are so right about the kitchen table. It is for sure the best place to work on anything like that. Micro Seiki made some great audiophile tables. This one is a nice consumer grade one but far from their top end stuff. i think I'm more in awe of the cartridge than the table. Thanks for your usual great commrnts Lj!!

Beautiful TT. I can't find a wooden plinth in my little town or area for the life of me. Kijiji just isn't giving up the goods. Sweet deal to have trimpots on the board! That little bit of residual drift is irrelevent. If the verticle tracking angle bothers your friend, try a carbon fibre mat. They're often a little thinner than stock rubber mats, which would lower the VTA on this front end tilt. Great job!

I must have missed that in the video Mark. I thought that it was yet another TT that you had picked up some time ago. It is a nice one for sure. I always love your component videos. I could watch you post one of these a week. Plus I learn so much from them.
You are the master like I have told you many times before. Enjoy your weekend. I will catch up with you soon~

Awesome video Mark, nice work! I can't even begin to tell you the smile that crosses my face to see something (especially a turntable) go from forgotten to looking and playing proudly again! Ok, I think you know what that's like! Really interesting table, hadn't heard of it but love it. Nice MMC cart to, it's owner was pretty handy. The MMC4 on my B&O turntable sadly needs re-tipping which is quite expensive. Kitchen table were made for electronics repair, you did fantastic. Sounds great! - Lj

Great comments! Thanks. That buffing kit looks interesting, may have to give it a try. BTW, I am going to fix a Pioneer Pl-117D turntable (not mine) that needs new damping fluid in the tonearm. I may have a vid up Sunday or Monday. I remember you had asked about this before.

Thanks for watching Vance. Yeah, I swear by that Novus polish. It's great stuff!

You truly are one of the masters when it comes to turntable repair, knowledge and overall guide for so many of us who never took them apart and tried to fix them ourselves. The tips {which are many} that you have shared with me have been stored upstairs for a late date, I have not memorized them all but if I have any questions in the future I am sure that I could count on you to help me out.
What are you going to do with the turntable when you are done with it Mark?

Another really interesting vdeo, and a superb job. I love the plinth on this table.

Hey there Don! Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it. I like the plinth as well, not very heavy though. But that wood grain is beautiful.

I have that exact same model and I love it. It looks like rosewood, (which was very popular in the day) but I think it is actually just a plastic or paper. I wish it were rosewood because it is in very high demand. You cannot see any thickness of veneer. My dust cover looks really bad and I'd love to get it all polished up.

Hey, thanks for watching. It is a decent turntable for sure. Some Novus plastic polish will help to make that cover a lot nicer.

Thanks for your encouragement and support Rob. I don't think any video I upload would be complete without a comment from you. This turntable belongs to a friend so I'm looking forward to getting it back to him.

Hello . I just got exact the same from a local sale. Just checked , it Needs a new belt. Also I am new to this. Where is the on / off switch for this model ? I could not get the motor running even without the belt ?

Those deep gouges on the lid are caused by the cords lying on it. The isolation on the cords is made of flexible plastic, and to keep it flexible, they add a certain chemical that prevents the plastic from hardening. If the cords come into the contact with a normal hard plastic for a long time, they will melt it. I found this out the hard way when I damaged the lid of my Denon TT :-(

I'm baffled. Your version of ELO sounds way better than mine, even streamed through youtube and played on micro loudspeaker on a laptop. Would you mind sharing your audio setup?

Thanks for watching. My system is pretty much all vintage. The Amp is a pioneer SA 8800 and speakers are Koss CM 1030's Both are from around 1978/79.

Hi there...Watch all your vids...was wondering if I could pick your brain...I just bought a Marantz Model 6170 and the cue up doesn't seem to go up very far...it's far enough but just...is this not enough dampening fluid?

Mark Gray Hey Mark. It sounds to me that the arm lifter (the curved black piece that contacts the arm during lifting). needs to be adjusted. There should be a small screw in the lifting post. Loosen that and raise the lifter just slightly, then tighten screw. You may need to fiddle with this to get it right. Pretty sure that will solve problem.

FJ KIng Damn, that was a couple or more years ago. I honestly don't remember. You'll have to try both directions. And experiment a bit.

Out of curiosity, where did you get the belt?

    • @beninski707
      @beninski707  7 ปีที่แล้ว

Just one I had laying around. Some of the turntables I found at thrift stores I would strip for parts i.e. headshells, cartridges, belts, hinges and mats etc.
