Arlentric is an Australian sketch comedy act dedicated to tabletop role-playing games, encompassing a range of titles such as Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition (DnD 5e), Pathfinder (PF 1, PF 2), City of Mist, and DC20.
this video is awesome. WE DEMAND MORE LONG FORM!!
Two of my favorite dnd TH-camrs at once🎉
👀
That's a bold comment coming from someone named "DnDShorts" 😂😂
Now we just need zacspeaksgiant, and all the best dnd creators will be in one place.
ONLY BECAUSE YOU ASKED ❤
I found this very entertaining, especially given that I'm currently playing a scholarly bard (who chants his spells in an ancient language and the rest of the PCs are half-convinced that he's just a wizard lying about his spellcasting), and my next planned character is a strength-based dwarf ranger.
Sometimes, you avoid the stereotypes and just end up making a bit of an abomination... And it's wonderful.
Absolutely adore the idea of a strength based ranger
You are ignoring optional features of Ranger!!! Instead of Favored Terrain you can instead choose Deft Explorer. Additionally, not all Rangers have to be Archers and the best Sub-Class of Ranger... DRAKEWARDEN!!!!!! YOU LITERALLY GET A PET DRAGON ESSENTIALLY!!!
@@morrigankasa570 I'm planning on taking both of the main optional features - Favored Foe and Deft Explorer. Then I'll be playing as a mountain dwarf, wearing medium armor and a shield, and (thematically) using a war pick as my main weapon.
And with Favored Foe, I can be less dependent on Hunter's Mark for my Bonus Actions, and instead use my BA for the Horizon Walker feature that lets you deal extra damage and transfer the damage type to Force.
Personally not a big fan of combat pets like in Beastmaster, Drakewarden, Creation Bard, Wildfire Druid, Battlesmith Artificer, etc. but that's just me.
Man for my dwarf alchemist artificer I rolled two 15's, two 16's, an 11 and a 5. Girl was a fuckin' tank, the party's trap disabler because we had no rogue, the healer because no cleric, right there in the front lines with the tanks - and an extremely shy stutter. Good times.
I was planning to give her Swarmkeeper but she died. So I replaced her with a tiefling life cleric with bard energy XD Helloo high charisma.
I have a plan for a barbarian for if i ever join a game that actually role plays. A mammoth loxodon barbarian with at least average intelligence but low wisdom who isn’t just a big angry guy but is just done with everyone’s crap (kinda like most people who work customer facing jobs)
9:35 ~Bard response~ "Not with that attitude you won't!"
6:24 yeah my divine soul sorcerer was nuts
Amazing!
As a tiefling ranger who wants to tame a pyrolisk, I take some offense.
If I'm a sorcerer I am for sure a dragonborn
I feel that last one...
Throwing it Back 😂
me at my 3rd abjuration wizard T.T
You deserve a better mic
Monks have the highest AC in the game??
What are you smoking? They have 20 AC *if* they've maxed out Dexterity and Wisdom... and likely haven't, since Constitution is pretty darn important too. They'll start at 16 AC, by taking a 16/17 in both Dexterity and Wisdom, unless they're Custom Lineage, which can give them a whopping 17 AC!
Just like Barbarians, except Barbarians get a 1d12 hit die (vs 1d8), have their AC based on Dexterity and _Constitution_ (meaning improving Constitution will improve both AC and hit points) and get resistance to damage through rage. And they can wear a shield, starting them with 18 AC instead, which goes up to 22 AC.
Anybody wearing Medium or Heavy Armor can start at 16 AC, add +2 AC through a shield (18 AC), and can often add another +1 AC through the Defense fighting style (19 AC). This can increase to 21 AC for heavy armor wearers and 20 AC for Medium armor wearers (21 AC if they take the Medium Armor Master feat).
Bladesinger Wizards can start with 13 AC _(Mage Armor)_ + Dex (start at +3 AC) + Int (start at +3 AC) = 19 AC. Add the _Shield_ spell for 24 AC as long as they have the spell slots for it. 25 AC if you start as Custom Lineage. And it only goes up from there, reaching 13 AC + 5 (max Dex) + 5 (max Int) = 23 AC, with another +5 from _Shield_ for 28 AC _without armor._
Hearing "What good is a baby if it can't throw a grenade?" cast Hideous Laughter on me
This was my favourite part to edit because I completely forgot I even recorded this ahahaha
I literally almost choked at that joke
I was sucking on a jolly rancher and almost threw up when I heard it.
As an artificer, I am offended because I am here for my small turret friend who shuffles along with me launching meter-length spears of arcane force at anything that moves.
I’m level 4 with 21 AC and if you touch me my little friend will stick you. I am a spiky metal ball that shoots fire.
I'm here for big boom (I love explosive characters)
@@Halberds62 words… nutter fluffer
I'm here so my dad and I can nerd out together building little contraptions.
Student: "Was that 'loot every body' or 'loot everybody'?"
Rogue: "Yes."
OATH OF THROWIN' IT BACK
I understood that reference.
Get out!
@user-te5pd5zs8g He's migrating them to One Short Questers, so they'll be back!
@@gunplay34No, no we won't.
It's the oath of throwing it back, right? "Please get out" 😂😂😂 this had me crying
Somebody's seen One Shot Quester's videos.
"You're either here because of guns or Iron Man."
That one guy in the back: "Sentry goin' up!"
I know you’re a TF2 fan too.
I have exactly one Artificer and you bet your ass it's an Artillery Artificer named Connagher
Have yet to be called out on it.
Or "Say hello to my lil' fren'" Steel Defender
I've played an Abjuration Wizard before. Once you get the boosted Counterspell, it's basically telling the world "No, *I'm* the wizard, I'm the *only* wizard, and everyone else gets magic at *my discretion."*
Really gives "D&D Class" a whole new meaning
I mean I would love to take one of these classes
"Elderly Scholar or Naive Schoolboy"
What about middle-aged grouch who treats magic like a bludgeon?
How about the certified pyromaniacs?
@@zemethiussome people just wanna watch the world burn
I would definitely watch this guy DM, and I do not watch DnD content, he’s just good
“Even though there’s a Paladin, Cleric, and Druid in the party, you’re the one who has to take cure wounds.”
I felt this when I had to take Wither and Bloom as a AM Sorcerer in a party with those 3
1:08 THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE 😂😂
So many good jokes, but my favourites were "Minthara as a patron" and "You're either here to get an animal companion or you're going to be multi-classing in two weeks" 😂 I got back into D&D via BG3, and these gags are hitting hard!
Artificers: Reject guns. Embrace dual flamethrowers!
Elderly scholar or naive schoolboy? No no no no. Let me introduce you to Watcher Hawthorn, reformed burglar and journeyman wizard. A middle-aged Order of Scribes wizard with the Criminal background whose sister was a nun at an orphanage, and whose best friend was in the Thieves' Guild. He dressed in rugged, common clothes, knew how to use thieves' tools, and carried a brace of throwing knives because spells make noise. Gruff team dad whose pessimism and rough, chequered past led him to always make multiple backup plans.
Let me introduce you to Henry the mark of hospitality halfling who had galdor's tower and was basically a traveling tavern and inn for the party. DM got annoyed and just killed him for being able to trivialize travel dangers.
The warlocks "Eldritch.... Blast" got me good. These need to be made into shorts for each class. Love the work mate
Bard being described as "comic relief" is spot-on. The biggest laughs in our current campaign has been because of our bard getting himself into awkward situations.
I’ll have you know, I, as a fighter main, have never played a human.
8:08 this is the most true statement I’ve ever heard.
If you are a monk and do not want to play a Tabaxi, DO NOT WORRY! You are also allowed to play Aaracokra! Those are the only two choices though.
What Harengon are amazing they for monk you don't get additional movement speed but proficiency on initiative is well worth it
I'm currently running a half orc monk
Owlin FTW - because sneaky monks are great
1:12 One of these is located in a castle in England that you have to get to by train.
10 minutes of back to back genius
I'm very proud of this video
Sorcerer "What kind of Tiefling are you going to be?"
Me: Tabaxi!
To the Barbarian: Half Orcs are not the only race I. D&D. There's also Goliaths.
To the Ranger: You're only underpowered until you pick up the Gloomstalker or Swarmkeeper subclass at level 3.
For the rogue: I didn't take a tragic backstory because I like breaking stereotypes. That's why I don't have an exceedingly happy backstory either.
Artificer: "What good is a baby if it can't throw a grenade?"
Me: Bait.
Ranger I feel like has so much potential as a class. Thank god for home brew otherwise Clint Birdton the arakokran ranger with like 100 different specialty arrows wouldn’t be as threatening or fun as I watch the DM question why he agreed to it 😏
XD Well, I'm playing 2e, so my party's ranger will probably be usefull for alot longer cus duel weapons are just that good, my druid died in a tragic orc situation at level cus magic users take a long time to get good in 2e and my paladin knows healing, starting plate armor, sword and shield expertise, has a lesbian crush on her Saintess, Mayahiene and I'm playing her being a party buffer. If my teamates can't wear plate armor and do their job, I've flipping give team magic plate armor and nag to wash every day cus my character is a clean freak and thinks the common folk smell.
There was a ranger NPC in my party. He was pretty powerful. He just kept rolling well. There was also an artificer with one or two bard levels who fought by hitting her enemies with a magically reinforced lute.
This needs to be a version of Shillelagh
"What good is a baby if it can't throw a grenade"
"The more blueprints we draw of nuclear weapons. The more our DM will be scared of us"
"Gun beats everything"
Best artificers lines
When I played a Battle Master Fighter my favorite combat superiority maneuver was Riposte. My catchphrase was, "It's not good to miss me.".
Now now, rangers are pretty good if you use the variant features from Tasha's.
Original: _Favored Enemy._ Pretty shit. Very limited and situational exploration and interactions bonuses
Alternative: _Favored Foe._ Diet Hunters Mark. Better, but not that great. An extra 1d4 damage once per turn. Later 1d6 and 1d8.
Original: _Natural Explorer._ Pretty shit. A bunch of very situational exploration features to overcome difficulties most campaigns don't even include.
Alternative: _Deft Explorer._ Pretty good. Expertise in one skill, two languages, later 5 foot speed increase, a swimming and climbing speed, 1d8+Wis healing pbtpd and easier recovery from exhaustion.
Alternative: _Spellcasting Focus._ The ability to use a Druidic focus for spellcasting. Nice to have, but a component pouch worked too.
Original: _Primeval Awareness._ Really shit. Spend a spell slot to detect a bunch of non-beast or humanoid creature types within 1 mile (or 6 miles in favored terrain). It doesn't reveal where they are or how many they are. Lasts for a number of minutes equal to the level of spell slot used. No reason to ever use a spell slot higher than 1, and the feature is arguably _worse_ in your favored terrain, since it make it even more difficult to use this to find enemies. Chances are you'll _never_ use this, since it's only worth it to spend those spell slots when you already have information to go on.
Alternative: _Primal Awareness._ Pretty darn great. Gives you five "interact with nature to gain information" spells that are very flavourful for the ranger and very useful if you have them, but which are often not taken because they don't help in combat.
Original: _Hide in Plain Sight._ Really shit. Lets you use a minute to camouflage yourself to give you a +10 bonus to stealth checks... until you do literally anything besides hiding, at which point you need to do it again. _So_ situational and with _so_ little benefit (what, advantage on *1* attack?) that it's unlikely to *ever* be used.
Alternative: _Nature's Veil._ Pretty darn great. Use a bonus action to turn invisible until the start of your next turn pbtpd. Useful for either gaining advantage on all attacks your turn, OR hiding until the start of your next turn.
Of course, some other shitty features weren't replaced: _Vanish,_ which lets you hide as a bonus action and prevents you (and only you, not your party) from being tracked by non-magical means, isn't bad, just a strictly worse version of the rogues _Cunning Action_ and has anti-synergy with _Nature's Veil._ And _Foe Slayer,_ your capstone, lets you add your wisdom modifier to *1* attack or damage roll against a favored enemy per turn. Great, really useful at *Level 20.* But most campaigns will never give you either of them, so they're much less relevant.
WIZARDS MENTIONED!!! (every class was mentioned) (i love wizards)
I HAD TO CUT SO MUCH WIZARD NONSENSE ahahahaha
Longform! Yes! I've never laughed harder at DND content than yours!
You can expect much more of this!!
The last punchline was too real 🥲
Only 5 Druid clips?
I got far too deranged and had to cut a lot ahahahaha
2:32 The D&D equivalent of a Bidoof
Sent to a group i haven't messaged in 3 years
I’m guilty of only playing halfling bards
"No, we're not furries!" Are you sure??
I played cleric long before bg3, them and celestial warlocks tend to be my favs.
I did however use bg3 to explore domain's I haven't had a chance to play yet
I love artificer cus I get to create a loyalty 3 trident, copy a very-important-to-the-story magic object, and makes mystery flasks of cocaine liquids
"So what colour tiefling are you gonna be?"
Yuan-Ti pureblood, please.
me as a artificer Iron man or guns.. me uhhhhhh i chose engi from tf2
ACTUALLY SO TRUE
Sorcery points and have met a magic functions is actually quite creative and complicated. You do need to study quite a bit.
I have surprisngly played monk four total times and never used abandoned at a monastary when young as backstory. One believed so hard in a pirate god and joined after party beat up the pirate monks he was apart of.
Naive Schoolboy?? ALRIGHT! Now I just have to get myself a red-headed best bud with a strong anti-magic zone power, a vampire mentor who can train me in how to punch people with magic, and maybe a few dozen girl hanger-ons, and I can be the most powerful wizard EVER!!
What the fuck is this referencing. I can't think of anything remotely close to that description
@@tornadotaylor8956 Negima! Magister Negi Magi
the Naïve schoolboy wizard is Negi, the redhead with antimagic is Asuna, the Vampire mentor is Evangeline, the assorted girl hangers-on are everyone else important for like 95% of the story.
@@MunchKING ok yea I've never heard of that series at all
@@tornadotaylor8956 Yeah it was a manga that was popular like...
*looks it up*
20 YEARS AGO?! Man I feel old. :(
Elderly man or naive boy? What about an elf-trained, dwarf-taught human woman who only became a wizard in order to make building stuff easier? I spent everything I could on tool proficiencies so I could use Fabricate to make everything.
here is my question. Why has no one talked about this before. Zendikar goblin as a bear totem barbarian. That combo let's you have resistance to all damage INCLUDING psychic. The resistance to psychic comes from the race of course. Now I don't play 5e often and prefer 3.5e. So can someone explain why no one talks about this or memes on how a goblin can be one of the most resistant barbarians out their.
FOOLS! The of of you! Artificer spells ARE GUNS! screw you're fireball, i cast rocket launcher!
2:06 Everytime I make another warlock, I am ACTUALLY surprised to relearn that I can choose to NOT learn eldritch blast.
"Two words ... Divine..Smite." Didn't age well with the new version of D and D that utterly destroys it... ... WotC.......
"YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE!"
Literally this is the way to play sorcerers, like an MC in an isekai anime. Pick your five spells and spam them until victory.
Our party's Abjuration Wizard is our tankiest person. She is also a terror. Mage Armor doesn't require Concentration. So Mage Armor + Polymorph is a really good combo.
My first D&D character was a ranger, it was fun! Actually, I think we can be pretty good in combat, doing ranged attacks and being able to attack multiple enemies multiple times, but in terms of doing LARGE amounts of damage at once… I can’t imagine😂 also yeah, I had infinite arrows😅 despite this, my character would constantly de-teeth and de-claw any slain foe or dead creature to make more arrows. It was very fun! Also, wdym animal companion?! Have I been scammed out of having a matching animal buddy?!
(Also sighs in rolling incredibly well for random useless shit but misses every hit roll in combat😅)
Also I wanna make a Tabaxi character but they aren’t featured in the monster manual or the players handbook I don’t think? Where can I find the cannon stats for them?
Fathomless Warlock/Eloquence Bard and you too can be the "Dream of the Fisherman's Wife"
Ranger, better then Monks, Artificers, Barbarians and Rogues since Tasha. Still the but of the jokes.
Me after completely breaking these stereotypes by playing a Order Cleric Eloquence Bard multiclass with human race who's purpose is to buff and heal
8:41 - 8:44 My bbeg for my next campaign I'm dming (she's a former archdruid turned druid lich homebrew):
Subtle skit about the pregnant druid...yeah we know now how to break the game!
Screw you dude fighter is a highly specialised class we very definitely have our merits I promise we don’t just “bonk with sword” we also have threaten to bonk with sword
I feel the Dungeon Master most.
I have never played DND and no one wanted to DM. So I'll have to DM my own first DND campaign if I want to get anywhere
1:32, take a PUNCH in the dark, if you plan on using weapons, make it a polestaff or you can leave my classroom
Somehow, I just knew he was gonna shout out to The Oath of throwing it back... lol. Hilarious 😂
Life domain? Nah bro Clerics want fireballs ☄️ 😎
A note about artificer. My buddy is starting a curse of strahd campaign soon and he was considering working with me to let me do an artificer. He's a new dm (his first campaign) and I'm a dm in training and usually help my dm friends with their homebrew while i build my own. It would've been my first time playing artificer so we had no idea what to expect so we both looked into the class and decided that yeah we can't allow an artificer since you literally are able to just make magical weapons and it would make campaign so laughably easy that it's better not to. So I'm gonna build a busted cleric.
The kenku monk/ranger had 20 AC "despite wearing nothing at all" in one campaign I was in.
DM here - I track Ranger Arrows. So I can give them cool arrows like Zelda BotW
Soulknife Rogue: Wait you don't have you infinite daggers?
9:49 The global DM shortage is real! 😱
1:05 HE KNOWS
I'm totally a Paladin Dad and if you won't stop being stupid I won't stop doing Dad Jokes.
My dm just had to kick the monk out of the campaign because they were upsetting the dungeon master… this is way too correct.
1:08 I (and also Duke) couldn't agree more!
1:54 Did you use Detect Thoughts on us?
Why would you not take identify? Do you want cursed items? Because that is how you get cursed items
Wait, there's a blood hunter class? Why did no one tell me this sounds epic as shit!?
Went one step further on the "druid with moss growing everywhere" and just made her a water genasi. :-)
Im terribly sorry im not on the greatest places rn , cant manage veterans snarky comments while trying to gather information.
Is there a way for a caster class to keep casting something, when they run out of resources?
As a ranger I say I play a underpowered class because if I chose anything else the dm would start to cry
hunter the worst class in the game? i thought gloomstalkers is way better then rogue? and just a really good subclass
This was very funny, I am once again asking for your *long form* support
What do you call a group of artificers? A manhatten project
i thought i was special when i made a serial killer warlock... then i watched this and realized we were made to be evil.
Sir you forgot some artificers just want a robot puppy to charge into battle with
The druid Had point why not take moonbeam and call lightning
Okay, guilty of the monk backstory thing. I like to think I've made up for it by discovering the MOST BROKEN STEALTH BUILD EVER. Shadow monk × arcane trickster rogue. Two ki points to cast Pass Without Trace for a +10 Stealth bonus and my elderly 6'5" half-orc disappears. Then you factor in Shadow Step, and the ability to use Mage Hand to put an object in front of a light source to *make* shadows where you need them... Draak may not be able to hit worth a darn, but good luck finding him!
Longer content good
Funny one as usuall
I just wish it was more ordered
The dungeon master 101 bit at the end was a little too real.
7:43 makes me wnt to make a paladin even more….even though ive never played and have no group
what about artificers who want to be the potion seller, with the strongest potions?
The Fighter repeating the same action lol
I don't even play D&D but tis is too good to miss. And for some parts does apply to Shadowrun, Black Eye etc. as well.
