Honestly probably one of the best DIY videos I have seen. Considering people who may not have ever used a meter before, this is a very good tutorial. Nice job
Absolutely awesome simple video. A repair guy wanted $1,500 to fix something, not sure what. So glad I put it off over the winter and decided to look it up here and found this video which addressed the exact code. Lucky me, my neighbor had the part I needed, so I plugged it in and the heater works great!
Nice job on the explanations and details on the ohms testing. The Amazon price for the Pentair part has tripled since your video. The dealer wanted $130 plus tax! I bought the knockoff part for a fraction and so far it is working.
This was spot on, Came across this exact problem today. E05 error code on the screen. Replacing Stack Sensor fixed the problem. Heater was only 3 weeks old and the sensor looked new but the wires were sliding out of the sensor where it is sealed from moisture.
Thank you for this video, extremely helpful! I ordered the flue stack sensor from Amazon, followed your instructions and now my heater works again! Saved me a few hundred dollars for a service call.
Thank you, this fixed my issue in only a few minutes. $16 part on Amazon. I only had to remove the panel on the side next to the sensor (the opposite side of the control keypad).
Thanks for the video and for the thorough explanation. The product manual was of little assistance with clear instructions on error codes, but after watching this it was a very easy and inexpensive fix.
Thank you for this. I replaced my stack flue sensor a while ago which corrected the issue for a short period of time, but the error came back recently. Looks like I need to put a meter on the leads of the sensor and test the resistance. E-05 indicates it would be open so I'll see if this is really the case. If not, perhaps my board has gone bad.
Good info, but curious where the flow switch is sence that plumbed in as a closed system and master temp heaters only have pressure switches, I understand there are other saftys but still bad Idea to have a valve on outlet of a heater especially at a residential pool.
Thank you for sharing this video. I'm getting an E 05 error. I checked the flu sensor and My meter is reading 3.98 at 20M. But 0.L on all lower settings. Does this mean there is too much resistance on the sensor. Thank you Ed
awesome video by the way, I have a e05 code. I changed stack flue sensor and now it turns off after a minute? what other issues can it be? should i change out the control board?
I’m servicing one of these currently. The heater works fine but keypad isn’t responsive. Can’t turn off, can’t take off spa mode, can’t turn temp up or down. Any idea what the fix is? New keypad? Is that an easy repair?
Great video. Very informative and learned exactly what e05 and e06 mean. I am getting an E05 code but I ohm'd the sensor and it reads 3.5M Ohm which is good. I get the same symptom when the sensor is unplugged so it's pointing to the control board. I did check the ohm reading at pins 3 and 4 on the board and it read 3.5M ohms too. I am very hesitant about buying the board as it cost $275 and what if I am wrong but now I'm confident that the new board will resolve this issue. Unfortunately it's not always an easy or cheap fix. A couple of years ago the fix was a new sensor but I didn't get lucky this time. Thanks for your help Craig! BTW, do you know where I can find the control board cheaper?
I have the pentair minimax nt and the displays shows off. it used to display the temperature all the time. I press the poll button and nothing happens. I would think the thermostat is off, how do I turn it on or replace it?
Will this stack flue sensor work on pentair master temp 400 high performance heater? Leslie's is asking 145.00 and yours says 19.00 so I'm confused please someone help me. Thank you sooo much
thanks for all the great videos sir, your selfless sharing of your expertise on these subjects have undoubtedly saved many folks hundreds and even thousands of dollars. i recently got this E05 error message... my symptoms were; heater fired up normally, ran normally for 20-25 seconds then shut down, giving me that message. it did the same thing each time i retried it, always shutting off after exactly the same amount of time. just ordered the flu sensor, so hopefully thats the problem. does this symptom i've described seem like this would be that sensor? thanks again!
unfortunatley we do not have parts posted on our website. However here is the link to purchase the part from the video www.amazon.com/Pentair-42002-0024S-Replacement-Electrical-Systems/dp/B004VTGELU/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1FGKD7RBD85H3&dchild=1&keywords=pentair+42002-0024s+stack+flue+sensor&qid=1631019653&sprefix=pentair+42002-0024s%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-3
Great info but most cases it’s a gas issue which will cause this codes. Always always check your gas pressure. Supply side should be around 10”wc with no more then 2”wc drop when heater is running. On the manifold side you need around -.02”wc with heater running (do t forget to remove the clear vent tube on gas valve when checking. Also you do t have to cycle the main power feed to reset the code you can simply just turn off the heater at the controller board and back on.

Finally a video which takes the time to slowly show how to disassemble the heater! Thank you!
You saved my buns. I got this part on Amazon for $15 and replaced it today and it works great! Thank you. 🙏🏽
Thank you for this video! I had the E05 error. Purchased a replacement part on Amazon, replaced the stack flue sensor, and I'm back in business.

Clear and concise, our heater is back working, thank you!
Holy cow. Easy to understand. I was going to call a plumber, this looks so simple I will do myself. Thank you.

By far, the best DIY video! Thanks. We have the EO6 code. Got the part ordered. High Hopes for the fix.
Thank you soooo much!!! I just used this video to fix my heater. This was so easy to follow!!
Excellent video, very thorough and easy to follow, thank you!
Nice video! Very helpful. Changed those two parts out and all is working now.

This is great! Now that I did all that the power won’t come on my heater… I don’t understand why. Any advice please?
Thanks for the video. I was able to fix my issue from this.

Great Video. Thank you!
Thanks. Totally did the trick. Easy fix. Appreciate it

What does it mean if the stack flue sensor is “open” ?
Just changed mine out so easy ty
awesome video by the way, I have a e05 code. I changed stack flue sensor and now it turns off after a minute? what other issues can it be? should i change out the control board?
Have you ever had a situation where it was the electric board was the problem? I’ve replaced 2 in same heater in 4 months time.
I’m servicing one of these currently. The heater works fine but keypad isn’t responsive. Can’t turn off, can’t take off spa mode, can’t turn temp up or down. Any idea what the fix is? New keypad? Is that an easy repair?
Do you have to kill the power to the heater to do this?? Mine just started giving me this code over the weekend

So I had the E05 code and shut down the power to the heater for about 10 seconds and it cleared the error. Heater working fine for now.
Thank you for your video. Very helpful. Good work you guys. :)
Thanks for watching!

Hi, I'm from Panama. The heater shows error E05. I changed the temperature sensor. It worked and then it showed the same thing again.
Muito boa explicação , bom profissional .
Parabéns!
Very helpful! Thank you!
Just Goooooo direct to the point

Awesome video Thanks
Heater works fine until water gets to about 98 degrees, then shuts off and gives an E05 code. Whats my issue?
Still replace stack flu sensor?
Ok, so E05 means I need to buy a new one? The spa gets to temp. Then it gets weird. Randomly throws E05, etc
Great Video !!!!
Thank you!
Thank s . Good video.
Very clear!
good job
Thank You. Can I get these parts through your link below to your website?

That is incorrect, his video is 💯 coreecr
I replaced the stack sensor. But I still get the e05?
Leave the wing nuts loose. Panels come off easily 😊
Must be very informative but I couldn't hear properly from the background noise
