    You never wanted a smart lock until the smart lock maker sponsored you? Right, no conflict of interest there at all...

    • @SoldierKnowsBest

      I see where you're coming from if you feel I'm dishonest in my statement which I'm not. It may be a surprise to you, but I don't own every single piece of tech and find new things all the time. ;) Thanks for watching!

    • @jonny5alive123
      @jonny5alive123 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I didn't say you were dishonest about what the product does , the video seems pretty neutral on it.
      It just seems a bit silly to title the video like you've had some big revelation that changed your mind on the concept of smart locks, and then have us find out that the revelation was that they paid you to review it.

    • @Rotator666hp
      @Rotator666hp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You should assume every video from this channel is sponsored. Hell, every video from every review channel on TH-cam, unless they explicitly say they're not sponsored.

      Rotator666hp Thats sadly true, even though they are required to disclose paid endorsements by law (in most countries).

    THANK YOU for the no-fluff breakdown on these two smart locks. Your video was quick, to the point, and didn't have any ad-nauseom information about your personal life and make it all about you like some of these youtube personalities that put out product informational videos. It is about time someone did a youtube video right.

      HAYDNBBH okay, but it's much harder to steal someone's phone then their set of keys. Also with a phone you can remotely wipe it/lock/track it.

    Giving out the temporary keys sounds great in theory, but it is actually a pain in the ass. First each guest has to download the Kevo App, then they each need to setup a Kevo account, confirm the email, then they need to accept the key into their account. Overall, a time-consuming process for multiple guests that would be coming to one-time party. I also think that there is a $1.99 fee per key that has to be paid by the master account holder.

  • @epoen2012

    To date 2020 this is still the best looking smart lock on the market imo. I just wish they would iron out the wrinkles. This has way too many issues.

  • @badimpulses17
    @badimpulses17 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Putting a smart Lock does not add better security to you average lock. Only adds convenience. Better off spending your money on a high security dead bolt.

  • @scbbc8186
    @scbbc8186 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have they ever fixed the MAJOR security flaw with their Smartkey design? Where a screwdriver can unlock the door in seconds (Shove a screwdriver in keyhole and twist with wrench, also can re-lock it that way and looks like no one was ever there).
    I have smartkey on my door knobs (from before this flaw was discovered) - which doesn't bother me much as the dead bolt is the main security (Fortunately I wanted 2 different key types so my deadbolts are Schlages).
    On a deadbolt this flaw is much more of an issue.

  • @harinamballa3937
    @harinamballa3937 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I found biggest flaw with Kevo - Its blutooth within 20 feet, even from outside the door, lets say you are in the car about to reverse, anyone can touch from outside to open. Whats the point having the touch lock open if someone can open outside the door you don't even know someone got in?
    Also there is no way to lock remotely using wifi, to have better control of monitoring.
    Like the RING Video we can monitor even we are miles away from home!!!

    you can defeat a smart lock in 30 seconds or under with a flat head screw driver. Also don't have bluetooth deadbolts on entry's of your home. Sure they are convenient, but they are not secure.

    The biggest complaint I hear from all these smartlocks is the battery life as it eats 4 AA batteries. Since you've been using this for almost a year now what's your take? Wish someone would figure out a way to hard wire these things to electricity.

    These locks are terrible. They are easily bypassed by criminals. Never secure your home with a "Home Depot" lock. They can be bumped in seconds. No bump key? Well a flat head screw driver and a wrench will work as well.

    A lock is THE LAST thing I would want to be "smart"
    Here come the Bluetooth replay attacks. let me just pop out my ubertooth one and find someone with this and sit nearby sniffing the air for BT. Wait till the person leaves and get in easily. no phone stealing required!

      I've seen alot of cases where people leave their phones in stores and someone steals it,so imagine someone stealing your phone then everything else in your house.

    • @jhatkajattjay703
      @jhatkajattjay703 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both keys & phones can be lost quite easily as most people keep them in there pockets, if you were to lose either item at a store or at the mall the theif/finder would have to know who you are or where you live to gain entry into your house. Let's face it when we see other shoppers in the stores we wont know who they in most cases, let alone their personal addresses.

    • @Technogamer03
      @Technogamer03 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      JhatkaJattJay you are right but the risk with losing a key is much less because with a phone I can get hacked and most likely they can find out were u live.
