- All contouring techniques are not created equal. Any makeup artist will tell you that your face shape will make a big difference in determining what type of shading and highlighting you need. I'd say the first one isn't round at all, it's oval, the second one isn't heart shaped but more or less round, apart from the chi And the last one is rectangular.

My thoughts exactly..
It's hard to exactly know which face shape you have because everyone has different bone structure. I have similar face structure with the 1st lady. For a long time, I thought I had oval face shape. The problem is: Oval face shape can pull off all hairstyles, I can't. I still believed I had oval face until I knew these tips. Read the instruction below if you want to know you have oval or round face:
_ Round face: The widest part of your face is cheek area
_ Oval face: The widest part of your face is your eyebrow area
The 1st lady in this video has round face.

The widest part of my face are my cheeks. I have a very distinct heartshaped face
A good way to see what shape you are is to take a picture and trace out the outline of the face, going forward from that, you can see what shape you are.
Another way, and I learned that in beautyschool is to messure the space from the tip of the nose to in between the eyebrows. that length is your guide to determine the faceshape. If that same length comes back in between the eyebrows to the hairline, tip of the nose to the chin, and tip of the nose to the point of the cheeckbone. if all those are equal you are oval. If you have more space between tip of the nose and chin, eyebrow and forehead, then you have a longer faceshape. ifyou have more length from tip of the nose to the cheekbone you are more round/square

THE ROUND FACE, was absolutely beautiful, before the makeup was applied. She is a natural beauty.

Love that video! Great contouring! The only thing I noticed was that the blush all the girls was applied too low on the cheeks and too front faced. I made their cheeks look droopy when they're supposed to be raised.
So bummed there's no more New Beauty store at Fred Segal!

The only difference between before and after is the overall color of the face. Doesn't really 'sell' the technique.

+Christine Williamson heart tends to have the hairline/beginning of forehead shaped like top of heart and a very pointed chin that is very easy to look like a double chin
If she had a circle face wouldn't you not avoid contouring the forehead.., it doesn't help?
Victoria Ma agreed! I felt like her face looked even more round in the after pic. Not that that's unflattering but usually those who want to contour their face do it for more definition so that it doesn't look as round
Omg… this women have AMAZING skin!!!!!
I think the problem with this is the models were too young and pretty, with flawless skin. Their after pics just looked like them with a little color added. There was no dramatic difference. The difference me without make up and me with make up is DRAMATIC but I am 47. However this was a great tutorial and I never tried contouring with foundation colors before. I have only done it with blusher. So this was interesting, and I might try it if I can figure out what the right foundation colors to use for my skin tone.

My opinion is that you put too much chemicals on young beautiful face so you can get so small, tiny difference? I don't see so much difference and I think they look way better without highlighting and contouring.. It's good sometimes to contour under the chicks but this much..... This amount of makeup for some big events... This is a result from the makeup industry and famous people..
I agree I like contour for a daily look so you don't look too flat but not too much for highlighting. Thought it was just me I just contour the nose and hairline sometimes the cheeks.
from a straight guy's perspective, they ALL look better without makeup or whatever she's using (left pictures look better than right pictures). just my opinion...

Well being a woman myself it was the first thing I thought that they looked so much better without make-up. I don't understand people commenting here with all the hate, just be objective. And the fact that women don't do it for men? We all know it's only half true. If there was never all this beauty pressure, I think no woman would wear make up because it's saves time and it's comfortable. If you say that, try go on a date with no make up, why won't you? But we all like to feel attractive and just feel better about ourselves. Simples.
I have a square face and struggle to contour... but tbh watching the video I don't even think I particularly need to! Didn't see that much of a impact of contouring on the square face, anyone else think this or just me?
I saw no change in the round face method to be honest... pretty sad because i came here looking for help on contouring and highlighting a round face structure :/

I like that this highlight/contour wasn't all heavy and the highlighter wasn't extremely white like most youtube MUAs do it. I feel like most of them go waaaay over board with the product

This was helpful THANKYOU! I have a heart shaped face and I'm a newbie so I've been trying to contour my nose and I'd always end up with a triangle nose when I was done XD focus towards the end GOT IT.
Great video ! I've never seen any mua highlight the smile lines of the face. I notice that round faces are supposed to be contoured down the jawline, and up under the chin. I've never seen that either.

There's barely a difference. This isn't like other contouring vids where you can clearly see the highlighting and contour. Poor effort

I think the efforts were to make it look natural. The brands she used were also natural too. When you can clearly see the contour, those are mostly for glamour makeup rather than just a natural face. It's meant to be subtle seeing as they didn't do anything to the eyes or too much to the brows and lips.

How do I go about getting a contouring kit for a heart shaped face? Including all of the brushes and product that will go with it. I use Estee Lauder Double Wear in color Fresco.

The first girl is Oval, not round and so do the Third girl is also oval with a little bit pointy chin. she is not square.

I like how she doesn't really change much of the face shape, so much as accenting what the gals already had. There really isn't that much of a difference between how they started, and where it ended, as much as drawing the eye a bit more to what already made them unique.
Though....on the last gal, she shouldn't have messed with the space around her eyes as much. She's got very lovely eyes, and too much makeup around them kind of distracts from them rather then accents them, making her look tired.
I know a lot of people are saying she did the exact same thing for each of them, but that's not the case. The technique was the same, but pay closer attention to exactly /where/ she puts the make up, and how much she uses. This look is all about subtle differences.
Can you make a list of the products used? Especially the blush.
Do u need to put on foundation or just do contour, concealer and highlight. Can u moisturize ur skin with lotion? Or is primer dehydrate good. I dont really use skin products just wash my face. And u only bake after using concealer? Can u back ur Foundation too or just concealer . When do u bake? Do u bake at the end of the makeup?

It don't think they meant an actual square. Often, square and rectangular face shapes are interchangeable because they have harsh edges (exactly the opposite of the round face shape)

I have a square face so I know what you mean, the last girl´s face was definitely not a square. Normally one tries to but a darker shadow on the jawbones to slim it down when contouring.

The brows don't need to be "fixed" they were sparse at the time due to hair loss and not filled in for the video... Don't be so hateful, I wasn't able to fill them in to look "normal". Sincerely girl #2

can you show how you would do a fuller round face, and eyes behind glasses, especially heavy upper eyelids. i am filipino, and it is hard to do makeup on my eyelids when it hangs over so i usually use just eyeliner

Very successful experience
You can't use the same blending tool for the dark and light color, it'll wash each other out and loose the effect/blur the defined lines...that's why you don't notice the difference.

1st person- OBVIOUSLY OVAL! 2nd person- closer to circle, not that close to heart at all except for chin 3rd person- actually correct

yeah, i am not sure which hair cut will looks good on me, in the video a girl with round face have one sided hair, i have that kind of style.

I am so loving the face shape,but I got white +cycle face and I feel hard to make a nice shape,almost I hide my face behind hair,if I used to brown or yellow cosmetics then my face is yellow and my body is white,it's very very weird.Help me how to make a nice shape for white girl!
