    Sunlight is always on my ambient board but Procession has been on the self for a while. I'm totally getting it on my board pronto because of this video. Thanks man

      Nice! Yeah I switch it up sometimes too but always come back to it.

      I love my procession, so good to see it here. It seems to be overlooked by many.

      Thanks! It's my second one too since upgrading to get the expression. One of my favorite pedals ever for sure.

    Having a smoothie and watching this informative video. Thanks.

      Very informative. Honestly, with both Habit and Mood, I've sot them and forgot them long ago, and haven't been using them to their potential, just using them to do what I've been using them to do forever. I need to reacquaint myself with what both offer.

    • @CraigAllenMusic

      Yeah they're both so versatile, it's nice to explore them again once in awhile.

    Very helpful - thanks a lot. I am in the process of upgrading my board for ambient - there are so many nice pedals out there. This vid made a few things clearer for me.

      Glad it was helpful! Yeah it's a fun process figuring out what works together and what sounds you can get from different combinations.

      @@CraigAllenMusic yeah - trying to avoid GAS though - just pulled down most of my synths, trying not to jump into the next rabbit hole - but it is so tempting 😅

    This was exactly the kinda inspiration I needed to rebuild my mega-board-spaceship-console ambient board after a long move. I"ll send pics when it's done! I've been satiated with just a simple Audio Kitchen The Small Trees boost>>Audi Kitchen Fake Plastic Trees>> Meris LVX >> MercX>>Boomerang 3 setup for months now but your breakdown has me excited to bust everything out. Beautiful sounds man, thanks

      Sounds good! I actually need to do another update soon too.

      Nice! I'm really interested in how to stack layers well and creating full, interesting and "organic" sounding ambient compositions with multiple independently moving layers through like parallel blending and sidechaining. I have the common problem of throwing everything at the canvas and not planning out and leaving space for dynamics. I was really into you separate looper placement. I need to mess with early chain loopers more. I have many of these pedals or similar.

      @winstonsmith8236 oh cool. Yeah I've tried doing parallel stuff and actually have a Matrise on the way. As soon as that gets hooked up I'll probably do a video on the full layout.

    About the end of the chain, why not direct from the UA Dreams to the computer?

    • @CraigAllenMusic

      I've tried that as well. Sometimes it's nice to have an end of chain reverb after the amp.

    Very cool. As a bass player, I just recently got my first reverb pedal, the Chase Bliss Dark World, and I’ve been loving it. I’m amazed by how much fun ambient stuff I can make with just that one pedal! Doing some research now on some delay pedals as I’m considering adding one to the. Word for even more ambient fun!

      Nice! I haven't played the Dark World yet but I definitely want to.

    Thanks for the video. I'm doing some sessions in the studio, and I always wondered why would anyone use a DI Box at the end of their pedal chain? I genuinely want to know, just to make sure I'm not missing anything. I mean at least on the paper, all of such pedals are buffered when they're ON, and many of them are buffered anyway even when they're off. So, I wonder what would be the purpose of having a DI Box at the end of chain? At the beginning of chain it makes sense, to split the signal to have a parallel dry signal recorded for reamping and other uses. However, I'd appreciate it if you could explain what are the benefits of having one at the end?
    Also, why not the Radial JDI Stereo instead of the Pro D2? Cheers!

    • @CraigAllenMusic
      @CraigAllenMusic  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, beginning would make sense for that purpose. At the end its because guitar cables lost signal over long runs, so by converting it and running the majority of the distance with XLR mic cables, less signal will be lost. Probably not a huge difference but might as well use it if I have it.

    • @CraigAllenMusic
      @CraigAllenMusic  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd love to get the stereo at some point but it's more expensive, that's the only reason.

    • @makeperceive
      @makeperceive 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      By using the DI, you can use balanced cables at line-level, which are not prone to picking up noise like unbalanced guitar cables.

    What power supply do you use to power the Hologram Microcosm? I'm having trouble finding a suitable adapter with the exact voltage and amperage.

    how to make ambient music:
    step one - spend 5k on a big ol' pedalboard
    step two - ???
    step three - profit.

    Is the Microsm the last pedal in the chain? or how/where do you connect it?

    • @CraigAllenMusic
      @CraigAllenMusic  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It goes Microcosm, Polymoon, Immerse. I usually like it early in the stereo part of my chain.
