I always think that in Blackout, she gets the thing that she really misses (without having to bribe the supa) and she sees the stars. BRB while I cry a whole bunch.
He always has an “I’ll Cover You (Reprise)” moment in his musicals: a character you love dies, the surviving characters sing about it and you’re just sitting there transformed into a blubbering mess.
"Seems like things are going well for everyone, except for Vanessa, it feels like..." Nice catch on Usnavi's "silent" center square. I’ve never seen the stage show, but it is my understanding the audience IS given just a hint of foreshadowing at the end of the previous song: there is a light change, and Nina comes running out, has a frantic (inaudible) conversation with Usnavi- and then comes the dispatch. -This moment is handled rather differently in the film; we *see* Abuela Claudia as she's slipping away,- her song, “Pacienca y Fe”, becomes her last thoughts, and she is discovered by Usnavi, onscreen, rather than all this occurring offstage and being relayed to us through an announcement (the movie CUTS ‘Atencion’!)
After the video: (spoilers) This is sadly an ongoing problem as greater heat brings greater risk of power outage in cities like New York - it causes a lot of health issues, particularly in the very young and very old. That said, I have a sneaking suspicion the movie is going to change her cause of death, based on certain images from the trailers. I could be totally off, but I'm placing bets now.
Agree with your theory I think she’s gonna die during the chaos of the blackout and I think it’s a real shame because it takes away some of the weight of her death. Attencion and alabanza are a tonal shift in the show that never shifts back. There’s no more large upbeat dancing songs like 96000 or carnaval because everyone is mourning. The idea of them singing alabanza and then singing carnaval del barrio the next day feels wrong
@@nataliemccarthy9140 Hmmm... Maybe it sounds wrong cuz we're all so used to the og source material. If this theory ends up being true, it sounds like Paciencia y Fe is going to be the climax of the film and Carnaval Del Barrio will set up the resolution for the final act. And honestly, given that they've already changed a lot of the original plotline, I can see how they can make that work on screen.
Didn't change the cause, it was still the heat and stress, but it changed the reveal. She sings her song reflecting on her past ("Pacienca Y Fe") as she is dying, and "departs" at the end of it- and is discovered gone by Usnavi onscreen, so there is a bit more warning. And the whole business about the winning lotto ticket and what to do with the money is changed, because it is not revealed that she held the winning ticket until near the end.
They do it a little differently. They cut the 'Atencion' part, and give the audience more warning what's coming ("Pacienca y Fe" becomes Abuela Claudia's thoughts as she is dying.)
I've seen some complaints about Lin-Manuel's performances (as they praise his writing), but he puts his whole heart into moments like this, or songs like "It's Quiet Uptown". At least we get Olga Merediz as the singing voice of a different Abuela in Encanto.
I said so aahh, let's proceed to cry 😔. The truth is that the first time I saw the musical, it hurt me a lot that she passed away, but I will see her again in the movie :) To see her go again, OH NO D: Buen video :')
I'll never forget the "Abuela Claudia passed away..." reveal. All the gasps in the theatre, man.

Eric: "Let's continue the block party and good times!"
Me: "Oh, honey no..."
Before finishing the video:
"Let's continue with this block party and the good times..."
Yeah... about that...
T_T
Doesn't matter how many times I hear these songs, I still start crying the second Usnavi says "She was found..."
"Let's continue the block party and good times with atención and alabanza!"
Atención and alabanza: Honey, you got a big storm coming
Humane reactions like yours is why I'm not ready yet to give up on humanity. Great job!
What you said.
Your face when the lyrics said that abuela Claudia had passed away. Great video, I enjoyed your reactions 💕
He has such an expressive face and I love the way he expresses how he feels. 😭
ohhhh crying hours are open

The moment I’ve been waiting for. My goodness my heart. This part is the most emotional 😭 part,
...The pride of the Heights......
"Seems like things are going well for everyone, except for Vanessa, it feels like..."

Also wondering what you were going to say, 3:32

After watching the movie. Y’all theories are correct!👍🏾🥰

yeah this song will literally always make me cry/voice break while singing
man i just know this scene is gonna absolutely destroy me in the cinema 😭

The first time I watched the show this song hit me so hard
Oh man... I was just watching the movie and Abuela Claudia's song is literally her dream as she dies. It's heartbreaking.

Really enjoying your reactions to this show.
I had the same reaction-
Then started crying a lot
@@alimahgreen that would be everyone
Yeah, this is going to be so difficult to watch in the movie. 😢

if you don't cry with Abuela Claudia's death you don't have a heart
You have no soul either
