    I am using hiveos under my proxmox. I am using bios = default (seabios). Only found 1 miner, onezerominer that will not work in a VM. This is for dynex. Because of my motherboard limits I can only pass thru the primary x16 slot however. Usually you only need 1 cpu and some miners only need 512mb RAM, but maximum I have seen is 2GB of ram needs

      Hi, a virtual machine on Windows is different to a virtual machine on Linux unless you’re using Microsoft Hyper-V. This is known as a Type-1 Hypervisor.
      With a Type-2 Hypervisor like Virtual Box or VMWare on Windows, it’s not possible to directly access the videocard.

      @@YomiTosh so it is mean I need to put some linux on my pc and than run a vm windows? it is better? in that case i can play on the vm ? it will be detec my card? thx

    • @YomiTosh
      @YomiTosh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gergovorincsak1629 Yes, you can use Linux and run various VMs that can access your video card. This would be the best option. But you can also try to use Hyper-V without installing Linux

    There’s an episode about this on Billions, they ended up shutting down the power in the whole area 🤣

      Lol, just seeing this.
      It doesn’t use that much power especially for a small operation like mine

      @@YomiTosh Got it! ...1 more Q: What about network drivers? HiveOS doesn't come with any way of communicating externally (and I don't have Windows on the same box, so no Virtio drivers. Hope that makes sense.)

    • @YomiTosh
      @YomiTosh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheLeechy00 I'm a little confused. You don't need windows to use VirtIO. Besides VirtIO, you can use the emulated Intel or Realtek virtual network adapters.

      GEEZ... E100 and Realtek were right there the whole time in the Hardware setup. Just needed to change the "Network Device" in Hardware from "Virtio (paravirutalized)" to "Intel 1000" also in the dropbox. Hope this note helps another noob. TYVM YT!

      If you’ve passed a GPU, you can check the display output from the GPU. If not you try the display options; QXL, Spice, VirtIO, etc. QXL generally works for me.

    • @TheLeechy00
      @TheLeechy00 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YomiTosh Thx again for sharing your expertise with a brand new user!
      Sidenote: Using QXL cut my mining output significantly! ...but just using "VGA (standard)" worked fine (got a display, no impact to mining)
