    Thank you. This is the only perfect vid on here that shows you what, how and why drip formers are used and needed. Brilliant bit of info about it being the most important part of the roof and how not to fold and tuck the wrong way. I have a sloping felt kitchen roof extension that needs doing with drip formers on the side. Had 2 cowboys previously and I'm paying the price horrifically for their nonsense repairs.

    Drip formers wrong way round, rough side out, get a stapler hammer , put more clouds in former and I'd put a lathe around first so drip sits straight down over facia board.

    Don’t ya just love how people manage to find the time to criticise and tell you how ur doing it wrong but you don’t see them uploading videos is on “The Proper Way To Do It”. These people have far too much time on their hands and should really get out more. Maybe even go and watch some professionals at work and learn something rather than pick holes in what everyone else is sound. Drive ya nuts.
    For the record. You’re sound a fine job mate. Keep up the good work.

    Great vid. One question. Would you do this method on the side where the gutter will be? Or is it a different method. Thanks

      With a dormer make sure you remove roof tiles and get felt as high as you can, also bring the tile membrane over your new felt

    Hello thank you for this informative video, just one question how do you use your method on 90 degree corner? Do the same as the front and have a slit where the two edges meet in the corners or join the corners?

    • @perfektrepairs7934
      @perfektrepairs7934  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to explain over a message, but it’s all about how you cut and shape it on the first corner that allows the second piece to simply over lap

    Boarded over old roof? No boards installed just cleaned top layer and went again with 3 more layers, that's the beauty of felt you on site rubber boys wouldn't understand it

  • @TheGhillieGuy-cr5jn
    @TheGhillieGuy-cr5jn 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you bot cut the drip first? I find it so much easier doing that way! All you have to do then is nail them up

    On that edge that is slightly raised what wood / battern do you use ? to give this shape on non gutter sides? ___/|

    Hiya, did you tack on the drip edge or was it primed then tacked? Just wondering as this step isn’t showing on your video. Thanks

    • @perfektrepairs7934
      @perfektrepairs7934  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Drip edge is felt so I tac it into place, I then install a drip-former and then heat the felt and it will fold and take the shape of the drip-former

      Boards was in good solid condition, old felt will not come away from boards as the felt had been bitumened to the deck, no harm in doing this method saves customer a ton of money if boards had rot then yes obviously replace them

    Need a proper knife
    More clouts in the formers very slow way of cutting drips and marking them
    Don’t need Two men to fix them
    Use a hammer stapler to fit drips and formers single handed then nail the formers

      My company been going since 1974 my Dad started it trading under the same name, I’m only going back now to flat roofs he done in 80s & 90s to re-do them done right they will last over 30 years, 3 layers hot bonded in the best method unless I’m on a listed building I will bring out my pour and roll and use boiling bitumen that’s bullet proof

      John Taylor you don’t have a clue mate. Felt is the only job for flat roofs. Many of my roofs have done over 30 years and still strong
