Mr Patrick Star, I hope you realize what an amazing daughter you have!!! She not only quilts like a dream, but she is also learning about carpentry. You and her mama have raised a wonderful person!!! ❤
My Dad passed away unexpectedly 2 years ago at 68. This will be great memories. And btw I am entirely jealous of the studio. But I have one kid left, so I was able to take over a room for my sewing space from my others leaving 😊. I love it.
Luxury Plank Flooring is the way to go if you're worried about water/dampness. And...like others mentioned...add more outlets than you THINK you need! Better to have too many than to wish you'd put in a few more.
I'm loving watching your studio develop! My husband is a woodworker and I agree that there are similarities between quilting and woodworking. Measure twice, cut once!😅
Now is the time to put in more outlets than you think you'll need (TV, fan, sewing lamps, mini fridge, etc.). If you have a long arm frame think about an outlet in the floor under the frame.
Your dad is quite the character! It’s so fun to watch you two. It’s been hotter than Satan’s armpit so stay hydrated while you’re working. ❤ from Kansas
The rafters of the loft would be a great place to hang quilts. Could also change ladder to hang quilts from.. you should proudly display your talent and art.
I love watching you and your dad working together on your studio. Put me back to the days I used to work with my dad in the garage on his cars and in the yard. This is a special time for you and I am so happy you are seeing your dreams become a reality! Hugs!
I’m so glad you are letting us hang out with you outside of your quilting life and we get to watch you renovating your new, exciting space. Your dad’s occasional commentary is awesome, don’t edit it out. 🥰
You & your family are creating some awesome memories. Brings back a lot of forgotten memories for me. I miss being able to do things like i use to. You are doing an awesome job & looking forward to the next video. Happy building
I love seeing this process, so please keep showing it to us. It's really cool that you are doing this with your family - reminds me of my family. Really looking forward to seeing more.
I recommend looking into a Splitter...for Heating & Cooling... 1 should work well enough for your quiltng shed. You don't need to share a window for A.C. They are very energy efficient. You probably will need a cement pad for the sitting large AC unit. & the Splitter has a small tube for draining the condensation to go outside. Talk with your current Heating & cooling service!!!
This is Terrific! Make sure u get mom & sister too. You an edit them out 4 us but it’s important that u have the memories of them helping too. Music is Great. Your teaching many of us what is involved in making something like this. Can’t wait to see more. 🎉
I love watching your progress it brings me much joy also I find myself smiling all the way through so keep posting I cant wait to see it all come together 🥰👏🏼💞

Don't know if it's been said...sooo...please wear safety glasses. Eyes are to precious to not protect. 😊 Need more outlets then planned. Always. You go girl..❤❤❤
Congratulations on your accomplishment! I envy you and all you have ahead. Can’t wait to see till the finish! In my younger days would love to have done something similar!
Thank you so much for sharing your progress, Miriam! It looks great, and you are making so much progress. I noticed that it doesn’t look like you put any outlets on the window wall. Before you get the walls up, I would suggest adding outlets under each window. If you put a chair by the window to have a quiet reading space, you might need a task light and an outlet would be handy. When we redid our basement for my sewing space, I put one outlet on the short walls and two on the long walls. Your long walls are quite a bit longer than mine, so I would suggest planning out where you might be putting your shelving units, where you are going to be using your iron, where you will need task lights, where you might need a space heater to take the chill off in the winter and a fan in the summer to move the air, etc. Then add more outlets to accommodate those items. It is better to have more outlets than to run extension cords and power strips. One can never have too many outlets! I can’t wait to watch your progress.
You are so blessed to have a wonderful father like you have. Love your quilt shed. It's going to be beautiful ! Can't wait to see when you have it all finished.
Check out luxury vinyl plank flooring. Looks like wood, wears like steel. It’s waterproof and nearly indestructible- very pet friendly and super easy to clean!
I love working with my dad too! He taught me so much over the years. He's almost 80 and still making fun wood projects. Thank you for sharing the shed's progress. Your videos always make me happy.
This is so exciting, Hun. All the memories you and your Dad are making together will last you a lifetime. ❤ I'm honored to be able to go along with you on this wonderful journey. You're a sweetie. 😍 Have a happy 4th of July, Hun. 🎉🇺🇲🎉🇺🇲🎉🇺🇲🎉🇺🇲
Excited for you. Love watching the remodeling project and seeing your excitement. Cant waitt to see the final priject. Wonderful Father Daughter together time 😍
vinyl plank is the way to go for flooring. Get low VOC to avoid fumes. it's very affordable. it's easy clean and water resistant and scratch resistant. it looks like hardwood. it's perfect for a quilt studio. I'm happy with my choice.
I say low VOC because of the fur babies and your health as well. Menards doesn't carry low VOC. Check flooring stores. My 16 x 20 room cost less than $600.@@StitchObsessed
I discovered you just a few weeks ago as knock off my sewist rust and get back to quilting. This is such a cool project to follow with you! (I also wondered why you sounded like me and you mentioned MN - ding ding!) 😊 I just wanted to comment how much I’m enjoying everything I’ve seen on your channel so far. ❤
Aww thank you so much, Stacy!!! 💖👏🏻 and yay! You heard the accent! My MN accent has sort of diminished which is sad 😢 haha I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos!
You can get LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) in a wood grain look. It snaps together & cuts easily. It is durable and waterproof. I have replacced floors in bathrooms and even RVs with it. Thanks for sharing
It’s looking great Miriam! On the outside of the shed are you going to paint some quilt blocks on the outside? I think that would look so pretty 😍💞💯 Enjoy the time spent with your dad bc years up the road you will have such good memories together. Take some pictures of you guys working together and you could hang a collage of photos in a nice frame to show the progress and it will be a little history for your sewing studio 🥰😉💞 just an idea 😊
Oh I love that idea, Deborah!!! Thank you 💖💖💖 I was actually thinking of maybe making some small barn quilts and hanging them in the frames of the front door. Could be cute! 😍
Love watching your pup helping too. They are so loving unconditionally. Lucky you. ❤. How much do u need to record? All of it. I’m 74. My dad was a carpenter. Loved being with him while he worked. Lucky you twice! ❤
I'm so happy for you! I am sharing in the excitement via the web! One thought: I see a long arm in your future so think of extra wiring now just in case !
This is so interesting I just love to watching it. I take it your dad and has a very good sense of humor LOL so nice to see you two working together. I'm happy that I get to watch you put your sewing studio together. Love your idea of the shiplap it's going to be awesome. The way you described it is going to be awesome. Just make sure before you get all the walls up that you have enough plug-ins especially since you have sewing machines and lamps irons maybe one day a longarm who knows now would be the time to think about all that. See you on your next video I'll be waiting
I love watching your new studio come to life!🎉 I love your ship lap ideas. We recently remodeled our house. Its over 100 years old. We used a super great product on our walls and ceilings. It's a plywood bead board. It's not a flimsy paneling type of bead board...it's literally like 1/2"-5/8" thick. We were able to put it directly over the insulation. We used it vertically on the walls and then the opposite direction on the ceiling. I sanded all of it with an electric sander and primed it and then painted it. I wish I could show you pictures. It's beautiful. Mainly though, it is sturdy and functional. In Illinois the building code requires drywall behind paneling fir fire retardant purposes. So we did not do that bc the plywood breadboard was stiff enough to support light fixtures etc. We loved working with it. We got it at Home Depot. Our quilting skills were great for measuring and making templates. Is it Wil Maring singing Sundown? We've seen her and enjoyed her music forever...way back when she was part if Shady Mix.❤
That is awesome! I would love to remodel an old farmhouse…someday! 💖 and the band that sings “Wait Up Sundown” is Arch Tremors! 🤗 I thought it was such a fun song!
So much FUN watching you & your Dad work on this HUGE PROJECT. A BUNCH of Lifeskills your learning. We all have dreams...CONGRATS on making this one a reality! Your work ethic has paid off!!! I love the shiplap idea! Thanks so much for sharing. I can't wait to see the next installment of your exciting journey!
Miriam, my excitement for your quilting future grows with each new video you add to your TH-cam channel. Thanks for taking your subscribers along with you and your amazing papa! And since watching this video, I now know the answer to the age old question, “Where’s the BEEF!?”. 🤣
WOW. Looks great!! You and your dad work great together!! You guys seem to be having so much fun (even in the heat)!! LOL I can't wait to see more!! So happy for you!! Oh I almost forgot. Hope you have a Happy 4th of July!! Stay Hydrated!!
Recently subscribed to your channel. How exciting to build a quilt shed!! You are lucky ving my dream🎉 looking forward to more progress videos 😁 Also, love the memories you are making with your Dad, that's something to cherish ❤
@@StitchObsessed I know you can purchase an insulated door blanket but a quilt would be so much prettier & if you used a hanger across the top, you could change it seasonally
Love seeing you and your sweet dad work on this. Looks like Obie enjoys pupervising your dad. You are both very talented with your construction! You're right. There are some similarities between woodworking and quilting....sometimes glue is use with the wood, too. 👍
I really enjoyed watching you and your family working together (even though we couldnt see your mom and sister). That is such a beautiful thing to see a family working together. Wonderful memories with you and your dad.
Enjoy this time! I loved helping my dad and when he whistled while he worked I loved it. I miss my dad so much. He’s in Heaven. You need to hang a bar quilt out of wood outside your quilt studio!!
So happy for you. Dad’s are a blessing 🥰. My dad’s 90 and still helps me in the yard with a lot of breaks. I have 8 outlets in my sewing room, all are being used. Love the color you picked for the outside walls. Again so happy for your new endeavors ❤
When we did our laundry room we found a product that was a rubber type of vinyl it was in a plank like hardwoods an looked like hardwoods once laid. I am really pleased with it. If it gets wet it won’t get ruined. Congrats on your studio.
Thumbs up all the way to you and your dad! I'm loving the process (that is where the magic happens, even in quilting, in my opinion). I'm a redhead and, yep, my face flushes red no matter how I try to control it from not. We are rare, beautiful creatures! Wishing you all the best!
Double the number of electrical outlets you are currently planning. It is so much cheaper to do it now than to add them later. I learned the hard way…
I agree! Better to have too many, than not enough outlets. You may want to rearrange your work spaces in the future and will want more outlets!!
I will discuss with my contractor (aka my dad 🤭) thank you for the advice!
@@StitchObsessed Your contractor seems agreeable! I’m enjoying watching you two work together to build your future.
@@catheyr1566 yep, he’s pretty great! 🤓 thank you so much for watching!
I agree with more outlets but also put them in at least some higher on wall. Saves your back in the long end.
Mr Patrick Star, I hope you realize what an amazing daughter you have!!! She not only quilts like a dream, but she is also learning about carpentry. You and her mama have raised a wonderful person!!! ❤
It’s so awesome to have you and your Dad doing the work together. What awesome memories are being made!
Oh yes, wonderful memories 🥰
It is batting. It's building batting. Batting makes your quilt warm, and insulation/building batting keeps the building warm. 😁
Hehe exactly!!!🤭
Raising the ceiling is genius! It like expanding your space 20% or 30%? Wow! I’m so in awe to see you and your dad working together!
I know right? It makes the space so much more open 🥰
My Dad passed away unexpectedly 2 years ago at 68. This will be great memories. And btw I am entirely jealous of the studio. But I have one kid left, so I was able to take over a room for my sewing space from my others leaving 😊. I love it.
I’m so sorry about your dad 💖💖💖
I agree you'll need more outlets. Also you're father watched you as a proud dad. Enjoy this time. It's precious.
Thank you! 🙏🏻💖
My dad used to whistle when he was happy while he worked. It is nice hearing your dad. It is wonderful he likes to help you. Wonderful memories!
Raising your lofts can get you some space to add a ceiling fan. Even if you have air conditioning, a ceiling fan can keep the air moving/
Very true!
You will be very happy if you put two outlets on each end and 4 on each of the long walls. The future you will be so thankful.
Absolutely!!
I totally agree!
You are so blessed with a nice Dad, I so miss mine.
Having a dad who helps you build your dreams! Lucky you.
I certainly am blessed 💖
Luxury Plank Flooring is the way to go if you're worried about water/dampness.
And...like others mentioned...add more outlets than you THINK you need! Better to have too many than to wish you'd put in a few more.
I’m actually going to go look at VLPF today! 🤓 thank you for the advice!
You may want a ceiling fan and put some nice 2” faux wood blinds on your windows.
I thought about a ceiling fan, but with the lights I’m planning to use, if just doesn’t make sense lol 🤓
My advice would be to have lots of lights so you don’t have shadows in your work areas. I am so happy for you.
That’s the plan! I’m going to have four huge lights on the ceiling which will help a lot 🥰 thank you, Diane!!!💖💖
It looks really good. Another thing you might think about is a dehumidifier to keep your fabric safe.
I’m actually looking to get a mini split that can also dehumidify the space! 👏🏻 pretty cool!
Add a ceiling fan onn each end! You will be glad for air circulation.
More outlets for sure. You can never have to many. Hey Dad......nice job!
How did I miss this video? That raised loft makes it so much more spacious looking in there.
Yes!!! It’s much nicer and I don’t feel like I could bump my head 😂
@@StitchObsessed I literally felt like I couldn't breathe just watching you move around in there! It looks so much bigger!
Center fan would work good too. Put in plenty of plug-ins too. Have fun! Anxious to see completed project!!
Thanks for the tip!💖👏🏻
What an amazing space. Be sure to have a comfy recliner for naps…you may not want to leave this space.
Oh yeah, I’m on the hunt for a cozy seating option for when I have computer work to do 🤓
God bless your Daddy❤❤ great job, beautiful! You are so fortunate!
Thank you! Yes, I am truly blessed 👏🏻💖
I'm loving watching your studio develop! My husband is a woodworker and I agree that there are similarities between quilting and woodworking. Measure twice, cut once!😅
Haha! Yes! Measure twice, cut once! 😂👏🏻
Don’t forget to add a design wall. Make it large enough to hold two king size quilts. I really wish I had one that big
Oh wow that would be a HUGE design wall!
So much fun doing this project, especially with your Dad! look forward to the next one!
Thank you!💖
Now is the time to put in more outlets than you think you'll need (TV, fan, sewing lamps, mini fridge, etc.). If you have a long arm frame think about an outlet in the floor under the frame.

Buy vinyl plank. It's worth it.
We had water resistant laminate and a damp towel laying on it caused it to bubble and peel.

One suggestion (among the choir of advice). Consider an attic vent fan to keep the air moving. Attic vent fans are inexpensive and while the walls are open easy peezy to place an outlet in the attic space. That will help with the effectiveness of the conditioning solution you install in the main space.
Looking forward to seeing your final reveal!

Yay! Thank you so much for subscribing! 💖 and yes, I love working with my dad!
love your enthusiasm & joy in putting up your She Shed. Could you insulate your door with quilt batting & a quilt top?
Oh my goodness what a cute idea! 😱🥰
@@StitchObsessed I know you can purchase an insulated door blanket but a quilt would be so much prettier & if you used a hanger across the top, you could change it seasonally
@@rhondaemberson3395 that would be so fun too!
Love watching the progress😊
Love seeing you and your sweet dad work on this. Looks like Obie enjoys pupervising your dad.
You are both very talented with your construction! You're right. There are some similarities between woodworking and quilting....sometimes glue is use with the wood, too. 👍
That’s right! Obi loves hanging around my dad 🥰 thank you so much for watching, Cathy 💖🤗
I really enjoyed watching you and your family working together (even though we couldnt see your mom and sister). That is such a beautiful thing to see a family working together. Wonderful memories with you and your dad.
Thank you so much, Natalie 💖🤗
Enjoy this time! I loved helping my dad and when he whistled while he worked I loved it. I miss my dad so much. He’s in Heaven.
You need to hang a bar quilt out of wood outside your quilt studio!!
Ooo yes! I definitely want to hang a barn quilt 🥰 and dads are so special 💖 sounds like you and me were blessed with great dads!
So happy for you. Dad’s are a blessing 🥰. My dad’s 90 and still helps me in the yard with a lot of breaks. I have 8 outlets in my sewing room, all are being used. Love the color you picked for the outside walls. Again so happy for your new endeavors ❤
Thank you so much, Sylvia!!!💖
we just bought a mr. cool split for our garage which also is the man cave. best price was at costco and easy to install.
Awesome! I didn’t even think to look at Costco! I have a membership.
Your dad is too funny! Isn't it great working together with him? I can't wait to see your finished project!
Oh yeah, he’s my favorite goober 🥰😂
When we did our laundry room we found a product that was a rubber type of vinyl it was in a plank like hardwoods an looked like hardwoods once laid. I am really pleased with it. If it gets wet it won’t get ruined. Congrats on your studio.
Thank you for the advice! I’m going to look into vinyl as well 💖
Thumbs up all the way to you and your dad! I'm loving the process (that is where the magic happens, even in quilting, in my opinion). I'm a redhead and, yep, my face flushes red no matter how I try to control it from not. We are rare, beautiful creatures! Wishing you all the best!
Yay another redhead!!! 👩🏻🦰 💖💖💖 do your ears turn bright red too? Mine do when I’m embarrassed which is SO annoying 😂😂
@@StitchObsessed Yes! I haven't grown out of it yet!
