The thing about Julian is he looked so straight-faced and sounded so innocent. You never knew when a joke was coming and it could be just a little tickle or a full on belter only he could get away with.
I don't dislike Jonathan Ross, but he really is not a good interviewer or host. Julian was right when he said "let's talk about me" as Ross always tries to take the limelight. His interviews are invariably really awkward and often his guests clearly feel awkward.
Wow...Valerie is STILL ALIVE, she must have been very young here, they brought her and his other dog Albert into the Big Brother diary room as a reward for Julian's storytelling task and it reduced Julian to tears, he really adores his dogs as though they were his children, he showed his affection for Albert by blowing a rasberry onto his groin as he lay on his back on the diary room floor...aahhh!
I love it. They're clearly good friends. Straight man comfortable with his sexuality tries to out-camp his gay friend with rude jokes and fails, obviously. It makes me happy to see.
Julian seems very uncomfortable here, wonder if it's the backstage setup with the cameras in the green room, or having to sit on a seat still warm from someone else, as he mentions when he comes on. He's clearly not enjoying the interview anyway.
Jonathan Ross is a hopeless interviewer. He treats his interviewees and the audience like idiots. I think that's why Julian Clary was losing patience with him -- having to sit through cumbersome "jokes" from a presenter who was not entertaining the audience at all and was rambling on about himself instead of doing his job. I honestly cannot understand why people like Jonathan Ross, or why the BBC ever thought he was worth a multi-million dollar contract. As for his rhotacism, it's annoying and could easily be corrected if he paid for a bit of speech therapy. I've known three people who affected a lisp because they thought it made them special and interesting. It didn't. Two of them realised that and stopped bothering with it. The other kept bothering us with it until we thankfully parted ways. Now, I'm not saying Jonathan Ross' Elmer Fudd impression is an affectation but if he wanted to correct it, he could take pity on us and do so. And why is he an OBE? Honestly... Ok, I'm finished now. That feels much better. ;)
Just because there are TH-cam compilations of "snowflakes getting triggered" it doesn't mean we live in some ultra PC dystopia. It's definitely still ok to make fun of gay people, ever been to a drag show? They do it themselves 🤣 Part of British culture is the ability to laugh at ourselves.
Julian seemed so over it from the beginning and was not into Jonathan’s naff jokes. Kind of pathetic too that he felt his masculinity would be threatened if he took the dolls trousers down.
"Anyway, let's talk about me...."
Brilliant. If only EVERY guest on Ross' shows would say the same.

Happy 60th birthday Julian Clary!!!

No wonder Julian is excited about getting all those Billy dolls. You can mount them upside-down on the kitchen wall and use them as Cup-hooks.
Julian has such a pretty smile
Camera zooms out AND STEPHEN FRY APPEARS!!! my lucky day.

Julian's so quick lol
My Glittering Passage by Julian Clary is funny as hell.
Is that really what Jonathan Ross sounds like?!? Wow!
I love it. They're clearly good friends. Straight man comfortable with his sexuality tries to out-camp his gay friend with rude jokes and fails, obviously. It makes me happy to see.
when was this filmed?
Well, you asked this 10 years ago ...but I can't resist.
They tell their age, you could've looked up Ross or Clary and just do the math!
She was still alive as of last Wednesday.
Fn Stephen Fry again... he gets ruddy everywhere

Never understand Ross's popularity.
i want to see eddie izzard and julian clary sitting next to each other.. it would even more epic than the ben miller/rob brydon moment on qi..

Probably because Julian doesn't suffer fools

If Julian came to my parents' bowls club, I would've mobbed him :D :D
dude stop hatin he got a speech impediment
Isn't it interesting to see how a gay man was interviewed in 2009 - how times change...
This was from 2002.
Back in the day when being gay was a quaint eccentricity it was OK to make fun of.

Julian is not funny because it's laugh at a gay. He just has funny bones.
F.F.S. where the hell did they get Johnathon Woss chawacter. He sounds like Elmer Fudd. Is he meant to be funny?
lol that other dude who used to sit there used to get taken the piss out of all the time, poor git lol
