The first beta was such a unique spin on the whole match X game genre. and the integration batween the mainline pvz into the genre was masterfully conceptualized. The designers behind that version were very smart, its a shame they probably got replaced by some dollar store designer
Man am i alone that liked the graphics of the first version? Just like yeah zombies and plants are not drawned good, but explosions and plants in the pots are not bad.

It's literally her PNG from the original PvZ 3 beta, they didn't even bothered to use her model wich would have even fit with the whole "match" theme of the game.
I wish that they would choose a new genre for a new game (that wasn’t just bejeweled but plant) imagine a game that is like garden warfare but with stealth (or a movie that doesn’t get cancelled).
If you think about it, Pvz Match's development follows the exact same story as pvz3. Both games had a beta that looked original yet horrible, and once revamped, they looked good but lost everything that made them original.
Speaking of angry birds match, did you know before it there was ANOTHER angry birds match 3 before it, one with much more charm, love and care put into it, even having a story? (I may have helped with a revival project for it, but let’s not go off track.) Well, it was angry birds fight and it was alive for 2 years. 2. The game was made by Kiteretsu and published by rovio and we don’t know the full reasons on why it shut down, but it’s presumed to be due to a contract ending or something. It was an “RPG” match 3 game that was actually quite timing and action based, and you battled other players, hence “fight”. Wish PvZ could’ve gotten something like it. Imagine if it was like a plant against a zombie with a timer like in ABF, it would be so cool.. I really hope this isn’t PvZ’s last shot, though.
I hope this franchise dont go to the angry birds path and start releasing shitty cookiecutter mobile games with pvz branding. I very much prefer no games over those type of games.

At this point, everyone and their moms, pets, and their great grandmother that is over the age of 100 knows that Popcap has offically run out of steam when it comes to competent developers and will probably go bankrupt or be eaten up by EA. It's already happening and it will not be a surprise if Cut The Rope lasts longer despite being a less popular franchise compared to PVZ.
