Please upvote this advice because it complements the video. I have no personal channel and nothing to gain from upvotes personally. I tried this character. On one hand, Matthew got fucked with the patch nerf. On the other hand, in Heist, AoE is king - not boss damage. So if you like the Heist mechanic, I recommend this very fun build. Here is how you make it not suck: 1) Hands of the High Templar. -With my +2 to all duration skill gems and +1 to all skill gems, with my gear, steelskin adds an extra 4200hp. At a minimum, yours will add 3900hp. Get the right Hands of the High Templar gloves. With the Steelskin helmet enchant and the extra Duration nodes by Supreme Ego, I have over +6000 HP 75% of the time. But with the following advice, you won't need it (unless you play stupidly). -While you're at it, get gloves with only "elemental weakness" on hit and no other curses. Then annoint the node for two simultaneous curses so you can use Frostbite as well. -I have the helmet anoint that gives me +45% extra damage taken by Steelskin, with Empower, Second Wind, Increased Duration, and Steelskin which gives me an extra >6000 HP for 3 out of every 4 seconds. Get Increased Duration notes by Extreme Ego. -You can get a robe with +2 to AoE skills, or +2 to socketed AoE skills and +1 to all socketed skills. -You MUST unlike the video says maximize AoE. You ****MUST**** ........ Maximize AoE at All Costs. Use Gems that have the AoE Corruption. -Therefore, use the 24% Glacial Cascade AoE enchant on your helmet, not the Steelskin one, unless survivability is paramount and you have a bunch of AoE elsewhere. Usually, 9500 HP (including energy shield) is good enough. You don't need 12000 at the cost of damage. If you hit an enemy with the explosion at the end, you get 200% more damage. That is the equivalent of SIX level 20 Concentrated Effect gems, (which is impossible to obtain). SIX!!! And the larger your AoE, the more enemies you dominate at once. And since -Get the corrupted version of - (what is it, Kazukuza?) - rings that have +20% Hatred effect. Each of those is like an extra Vengeful Commander! I'm too tired to go on for much longer. Use the shield that gives you +1 totems, not two wands. use Awakened Cold Damage Support lv 5 because at lv 5 you get +1 to all cold gems. Use Awakened Area of Effect Support (or just Aoe Support) plus Elemental Proliferation as gems. Just trust me - you need the Aoe and you need to freeze everyone in place, always. Then, you'll hit them with the AoE which gives you a gazillion damage. Make sure to use Cold Snap (vaal) too. Make sure to use the quick-to-cast Void Sphere to proc EO. In fact, you can just put this on Autocast. You don't even need the Critical Strike support connected to it because it'll proc EO on its own with all that AoE you have. Also, instead of getting all that life, which is statistically speaking not necessary with your +4000hp of Steelskin, put a Large Thread of Hope gem in the top, center jewel slot. Look at all of your options that that opens up for you. The correct options to choose will be obvious. Use the Whispers of Doom anoint on your amulet to get the Gloves' Elemental Weakness curse plus your own Frostbite autocurse since now you have gotten Heart of Ice and Breath of Rime (and more) on your own, thanks to the Thread of Hope. -If you've been listening, you should know that at this point you should also have Blast Radius and Amplify. You can get all three Vengeful Commanders from one large and two medium Cluster jewels. Did I mention the Hatred Corruptions on the rings? Get the Hatred Corruptions on the Kikazaru rings. There is a Cinderswallow craft that is "regenerate 3% life during flask effect" that is cheap. You'll be using Tukohama's Fortress, so you need it. So again, use (awakened) Area of Effect support and Elemental Proliferation support. You can do a Gem swap of EP for elemental focus or Concentrated Effect for bosses if you want ----- but note that this is a HEIST build. Use VOID SPHERE to proc Elemental Overload. Get the version of Void sphere that you can cast twice, or rather, that will cast twice FOR YOU since it will be autocast. Get the version of Smoke Mine that increases cast speed. Get the version of Flame Dash that gives you >= 20% more distance travelled with flame dash. I'm to tired for the rest. Bye.
@@Taurgar I didnt sleep all night just to hit level 90 fast and progress as cheap as possible to end up struggle at level 67-70 in low tier maps with soul mantle. Damage was low, anything could kill you with 3k life, speed clear was unbearable and the lack of currency made it even more of a struggle. The moment i wore mantle i was dying left and right and without it damage was very low. A lose-lose scenario. I quit this league already. Not in mood to level up other char let alone i lost the opportunity to gear up with as low investment as possible.
Btw, would you consider using a medium cluster for Cold conduction, which is 15% baseline shock, while there's also a possibility of using redeemer boots with 40% ailment effect increase? This requires to use second large cluster to fit in, which leads to a small passive tree changes. Not sure atm if it worth tho.
Bl is so much better even though it got the nerf Edit: you get -25/30% damage, but this matters only in FAR endgame BECAUSE: You one shot monsters, two shot champions and rares --> You will kill them 25/30% slower So you kill your enemies not in 1second, but in 1.25second ( only if they are bosses and survive first hit)
Btw, the overlap improvement will come mostly from the aoe changes to GC... aoe will scale the individual bursts but the whole cascade will not scale with area.
@@awesimo4684 It's bugged, in a really fucking weird way. They increased the curse effectiviness of Soul Mantle's curses by 80%, so theoretically you would need like 4 Kikazarus to negate the curses. Bex said that this will be patched, but didn't say when.

Does anyone understand why he doesn't recommend going to glacial cascade until 90? I've watched these videos several times and I don't think he even says explicitly why I shouldn't even start with glacial cascade from the very beginning.
lvling with GC feels rlllllly bad, and the base of the dmg for this build is cluster jewels, which you probably wont have until around lvl 90, unless you sacrifice lots of survivability. Thats the reasoning 😁

You made a fan after last league's miner - and I'm looking forward to the next one - but in my opinion the new BL nerf hits this build hard. @@lancetschirhart7676 Its possible, personally I had no issues at all getting to t12s and my dmg was very good as well, once i hit t13s and corrupted bosses it became rlly apparent the dmg wasnt good enough BUT soul mantle was bugged, now its fixed!
Two questions: What is the second and third best notable to get on the cluster jewel? Do you have to use the shrieking essences over and over until you get lucky? Is it important that one is +1 lvl phys and one is +1 lvl light/cold? Or could they be the same. Thanks for the indulgence.
Key question everyone that follows you keep asking to ourselves: overall, would you recommend the GC Totem build or the BL miner? I'm kind of struggling in making a decision. I was sure on Totems but I keep thinking more mobility may be key on Heist and that keeps me on doubt. Thanks for the great videos!
Totems have better clear, better survivability and a nicer playstyle. BL miner does fucking DEEEEEEPS. Don't expect to nuke A8 sirus with 100c invesment and trash tier gear with totems, but BL miner will do it just fine, post-nerf you probly will need a 6L though.

What is your take on why you wouldnt go with Essence Extraction? It seems to me (without a life flask especially) that guaranteed mana flask charges would be huge for this build. I think its worth it myself, but maybe im missing something. I league started GC Totems (Thi3ns version) in 3.4-3.6, maybe ill do it again with the change.
The Long Winter jewels would be INSANE for the new patch... Sad they deleted them :( Would literally be 50% more damage since you get 2 additional bursts.
I saw a dude in poeninja playing BL with this ascendancy. He somehow had 3k life and TEN THOUSAND mana and 7.3mDPS on his ball lightning, while I had ~300k as saboteur BL miner

it's not, we're getting 4 burst with #4 counting like 3, so we're getting the dmg of 6 burst (post-changes) in the aoe of 4 and with overlap. seems like a really good deal!

Can i use this build with any other skill ? I was thinking about starting with blazing salvo and if it doesnt work out i would switch to cascade and this seems like a well built generic totem build
The Curses were split into two disjunct classes: Marks and Hexes. Soul Mantle now inflicts only Hexes but no Marks. Previously we havd 13 different Curses. Now we have 9 different Hexes.This lowers the max damage bonus provided by Self-Flagellation (increased Damage per Curse) from 260 to 180. This is a slight nerf but probably irrelevant because you were rarely able to inflict the max number of curses on you.The duration of an inflicted curse is approximately 10 seconds. Gaining all 13 curses would require the death of 13 Totems within 10 seconds. Usually you gain 4-6 different curses/hexes during map runs.

One of the worst starters i ever played. Made it at level 70 and death is all over the place plus damage is not as good. Sad and i was playing all night to make it fast to 70. Ill make a new char today ....
Hi, relative noob here. Great guides, I think I'm going to follow your league start for heist especially because I like the aesthetic of glacial cascade. I have a question though - how scalable is this build past league start, and what items or stats would you chase to min-max?
Any build that can crush content on budget gear is already scaled high. This will be able to do all content easily with an investment even if you are new to boss mechanics.
@@brokenmotor2 Generally that is what you do. A starter gets you into maps and sometimes late atlas and enough currency to reroll another stronger endgame build. I usually find you have to invest for end game content regardless of builds. Just find your goal and go with it! Good luck.
Aren't we supposed to scale aoe instead of conc with GC now? or at least just avoid conc? This is possibly a super ignorant question. I know nothing of how GC works but heart some talk of it on the recent baeclast.
conq adds more damage but reduces the area of effect. Conq is used for single target/bossing and increased area is used for mapping and killing larges groups of enemies. Usually people will have both and just swap the gems out depending on what they are fighting

Are we back in business? 3.12.1 Hotfix 1: Changed the Increased Effect of Hexes on Soul Mantle to be More Effect. This was a server-side change, and we will fix the description in our next client patch.
Before the patch you need two kikazu rings and the notable that gives 20% reduced effect of curses on you but after the big nerf that they never mentioned in the patch notes literally only atziri’s mirror (which is usually in the 15ex range) works. This build is pretty much impossible on a budget now due to a change they never mentioned.

Switched from GC Totems to good old FP Totems, feels so much better. Almost same ST but WAY smoother clear.

The cluster jewels, crusader ring, passive tree. These only work once soul mantle gets fixed though.

It s the same glacial cascade have both physical and cold tag so 2 +1 cold or 2 +1 physical or one of each will do the same

I was having error 301 with an updated community fork and needed to add pastebin.com to my exclusions list on Kaspersky antivirus and then it worked.
I saw a dude in poeninja playing BL with this ascendancy. He somehow had 3k life and TEN THOUSAND mana and 7.3mDPS on his ball lightning, while I had ~300k as saboteur BL miner

could do either, you can invest and push this build really far, or you can just keep it at cheap-status and play something else once you have $$$, up to you
Is the additional burst from the threshold jewel not an issue?
it's not, we're getting 4 burst with #4 counting like 3, so we're getting the dmg of 6 burst (post-changes) in the aoe of 4 and with overlap. seems like a really good deal!

No, it requires a phys to cold conversion skill to abuse hatred aura effect stacking.

Yup 20 passive, 40 from one ring and 40 from the node in your large cluster jewel.
Alternatively you could run two of those rings

Did they not nerf soul mantle ? The hex/curse part on you.
The Curses were split into two disjunct classes: Marks and Hexes. Soul Mantle now inflicts only Hexes but no Marks. Previously we havd 13 different Curses. Now we have 9 different Hexes.This lowers the max damage bonus provided by Self-Flagellation (increased Damage per Curse) from 260 to 180. This is a slight nerf but probably irrelevant because you were rarely able to inflict the max number of curses on you.The duration of an inflicted curse is approximately 10 seconds. Gaining all 13 curses would require the death of 13 Totems within 10 seconds. Usually you gain 4-6 different curses/hexes during map runs.

One of the worst starters i ever played. Made it at level 70 and death is all over the place plus damage is not as good. Sad and i was playing all night to make it fast to 70. Ill make a new char today ....

Hi, relative noob here. Great guides, I think I'm going to follow your league start for heist especially because I like the aesthetic of glacial cascade. I have a question though - how scalable is this build past league start, and what items or stats would you chase to min-max?
Any build that can crush content on budget gear is already scaled high. This will be able to do all content easily with an investment even if you are new to boss mechanics.

@@brokenmotor2 Generally that is what you do. A starter gets you into maps and sometimes late atlas and enough currency to reroll another stronger endgame build. I usually find you have to invest for end game content regardless of builds. Just find your goal and go with it! Good luck.
why would you use conc effect on old GC? this makes overlapping really hard.

This is possibly a super ignorant question. I know nothing of how GC works but heart some talk of it on the recent baeclast.
conq adds more damage but reduces the area of effect. Conq is used for single target/bossing and increased area is used for mapping and killing larges groups of enemies. Usually people will have both and just swap the gems out depending on what they are fighting

Yet in the patch notes it says: "The final spike now deals 200% more damage."
200% more = 300% damage

I aim for chaos recipe gear early-early in a league so indeed, my life pool is very very low, but thats cuz theres no life on like 6 of my items hahaha

I am probably missing something, how do you deal with curses on you ?
Before the patch you need two kikazu rings and the notable that gives 20% reduced effect of curses on you but after the big nerf that they never mentioned in the patch notes literally only atziri’s mirror (which is usually in the 15ex range) works. This build is pretty much impossible on a budget now due to a change they never mentioned.
