So nice of your daughter to take you out for lunch and buy you this awesome '65 Chevy wagon. I built a few of them over the years. Youre blessed to have such a daughter. Enjoy your weekend.
that's a nice kit Eric.i built that kit 50 years ago.and mine was painted a green color.i still have the box.with two models in the box in storage.good kit.
Nice time spent with your daughter with a great surprise ending. Nice kit just for the surf boards alone.😊 I use the same AMT display cases but stopped now since they were getting too expensive for me.😊
As I watch your video, I stand looking down at my original in my display case. I built it as a race team tow/service car. Put the aero roof rack on it, had a couple of "spare" tires on top of that. Hand painted a thin, bright green stripe from the front of the hood to the front of the roof rack, where it divided along the front edges of the rack. Waxed the otherwise bare body. Trailer hitch under the back. Later, hooked the tilt bed MPC car trailer out of the Mako Shark kit on the hitch. But then, in 1971, a major earthquake turned my Wagon into a 4 door El Camino. The back of the roof got crushed. So I sawed the roof off clean at the back of the C pillars. Lost the pushbar and the tailgate liner in that.It still survives though. I built my 63 Nova Wagon as a drag car with an injected small block V8. That lost the hood and injection manifold in the quake. I recently bought a resin hood for it and have shopped for a new injection intake for it. I've been thinking recently of getting a new Chevelle Wagon. Torn between building it drag like the great artwork of the recent issues, or building a tow/service car again. I intend to put the way better chassis from the Revell 66 Wagon under it either way. Interior too, maybe. Glad to see from your video that the drag parts are still in the kit. I thought they were probably replaced with the surf parts. My old one may get a new push bar out of it, though. Oh... I cut the bottom of the cellophane wrapper and leave the rest to protect the box like you do.
@dustymojave That's a bummer about the quake damage. It's nice that they're still popping this one out. Plenty of repair parts. It sounds like it was really nice before the quake. Thanks for watching!
