When I was taking out my rod, the screw popped out and I didn't know what to do. But after watching this and a little figuring out, my curtains are up. Thank you!
Glad I found you. I purchased those type of rods and with directions too. I could barely read the print on the tiny piece of paper as it was so small. Which were fine until I dropped the rods and all parts went all over. Now what? Hence I searched TH-cam and up you popped! Thank You Priscilla
When I got my rod in the mail, the screw was floating loose in the bag, not waiting inside the rod by the spring. I was having the weirdest time figuring out exactly how/where to put it. Thank you for this video--it helped me figure it out. :)
Thank you for this very-helpful video. Yours is the only video that answered the question I Googled for a good half hour before finding you. I have no serious issue with the interchangeability of the terms "tension" and "stress" but acknowledge the confusion that might arise since search engines are often less specific than humans about language. In my search for "how to assemble a tension rod" most of the hits dealt with "installation of a tension rod". This is the only video, exemplary in its thoroughness, that took me from "rod still in the package" to "tension rod vs more holes in my walls" to "how to assemble a tension rod." Thank you!
Alex Mercedes Thank you! Whenever I put "stress" in a google term, I wind up on sites about reducing stress on a person. I find "tension" seems to be a term used in construction more myself...though it will also lead you to a few sites about muscle tension and tension headaches. However, even if it is frustrating when google doesn't give me the link I want because of how I worded it...I'm just glad if I don't wind up on a porn site. It is amazing how many innocent searches can lead you to one of those sites!
@@JLGluvsLara lmao 7 years later, top stuff. had to clean this damn curtain divider while my room8 is gone & this thing pops out like a Jack in The Box. Then almost took a finger out trying to manhandle. LIKE PREV SAID TOP SHELF UTUBE CONTENT!!!! THANKS & KUDOS ✨✨🌞🌞🌎🌟
This is really helpful, thank you! Tension rods aren't very common around where I am, and I was looking for a very layman level explanation. Thank you for all the effort you've put in!
Thank you! I started very young because my stepfather was terminally ill. Since then, I've patched holes in my mom's car and repainted it, installed a bedroom door, replaced electrical sockets, replaced window operators--and other stuff. It can be daunting, but you can do it!
Thank you! What is it with these places not giving instructions? I just had to figure out how to replace my sliding glass door lock without instructions.
This is the kind of Rod I have, except mines is off white and my spring, nut and bolt didn't come already in the Rod, I have to put mines in and I don't know how too been trying since last night and its driving me crazy, help please!
I'll try my best. If I recall, there are three pieces to the nut/bolt part. There is a bottom part that the screw goes into. This part goes inside the rod, the part that the screw goes into pointing out at you. There is a circular part that the screw goes through, but this will remain outside the rod. You put the screw through the circular part and screw it into the piece that is inside the rod. The spring goes to the right of the nut/bolt. The whole purpose of the nut/bolt is to keep the spring in place where you want it. The spring doesn't go into it, but it should be stopped by it. I hope this helps.
This was so helpful, but my sliding screw, which is the tiny screw screwed in to the metal backing, keeps falling off and no matter how much I tighten the screw it won't lock the rods in place. What to do?
+vadapa89 Sounds like it may be a faulty piece. I'd probably return it. If you are a person like me, and you keep stray hardware around in jars, you could possibly see if there is another screw that would fit better if you are not willing to return it (or can't).
I'm planning to do a shorter video. I didn't do this to do a how to video, it was for my friends and family. But since most people are looking for a how to, I will do one.
Thank you! I'm glad you finally got it. Actually, I had forgotten that with one of my rods, the screw had come out of it. Fortunately, I had already installed one and knew what it looked like.
Well, that depends on whether you still have the screw or not. You can just slide it in otherwise. If you don't have it...well, are you or a loved one someone who hoards extra screws and whatnots. If you are, you may find a suitable replacement. If you are not...well, you may just have to replace the whole thing...unless you can find a replacement screw at Home Depot.
When I was doing the videos, I was doing it for my friends who would be interested in hearing from me--not a bunch of attention deficit strangers who apparently also don't have the motor skills to drag that little red dot to fast forward a video.
That's fantastic! Over a hundred thousand people have viewed it. I thought you were a DIY person or something, since many people do those as a series. Well, at any rate, thanks for helping me figure out the spring and screw.
Jessica Gray -wow After watching the video I would never have known you were so mean spirited as demonstrated by your comment...Signed, just another attention deficit stranger.
Sorry about that! You know, it actually isn't as easy as it looks to make videos. You think it is just point a camera and shoot...but it actually is challenging.
Was that any good? I'm trying to find good movies, and it is hard. I just got done watching a Korean film called The Wailing. Ugh! That is 2 1/2 hours of my life I'm not getting back!
Jessica Gray Yes, it was very good. First of the kind of the "found footage" thing. Just don't watch it if you're prone to seasickness 'cos my Dad had to run to the loos the same time as me!!!
u know what sucks is when the little screw wont hold in place anymore and u took the rod down at night and now it wont go back up and you live inside a courtyard.
Hmmm. If it isn't new, then I would say the screw might be stripped or holder is. If it is new, then I'd say it must be inappropriate. Either way, it sounds like something needs to be replaced.
Biswajit Rajaguru Well, frankly, as long as they don't start calling curtain rods toilets or bananas, I don't care. I can live with them calling it a tension rod rather than a stress rod. Stress and tension are similar enough in meaning to give the same idea.
When I was taking out my rod, the screw popped out and I didn't know what to do. But after watching this and a little figuring out, my curtains are up. Thank you!

Thank you for the kind comment!
Oh man , after 2 weeks and many attempts your video finally came to my rescue. Thank you soooooo much. I was trying all kinds of ways 🙄. Thank you ☺️
Thanks!
Just want to say thanks for creating this video. Thanks to you, my wife and I successfully installed a tension rod!
You are very welcome! I'm tempted to write to the company and say, "You know, instructions would be nice!" ;)
Thanks you 😊 I was lost . But after watching your video my curtains are up.
Thank you I was looking everywhere for this and felt so dumb, just needed a screwdriver
You are very welcome! Glad it helped! I was worried I hadn't done a good job with this one.
Thank You didn't realize how easy it was my ex did everything for 29 years, now just me trying to fix things by myself, Thank You!

Great, very clear instruction. Thank god for you I was baffled as to how to install rod.
Thanks. It helped me. I only needed to watch some minutes. Maybe less than a minute. But it is good to have all the information anyways. Thanks.
Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate.
thank you. I just couldn't work out how to do it until I watched your video. :)
Thank you! What is it with these places not giving instructions? I just had to figure out how to replace my sliding glass door lock without instructions.
my spring tension rod doesn't have a screw to lengthen
Thanks really helpful video, I could not figure it out before, lol.
Thank you very much. You’re the best!

Thanks! Even though this was a little bit belabored, I would NOT have known what to since I unscrewed the screw!
I'm planning to do a shorter video. I didn't do this to do a how to video, it was for my friends and family. But since most people are looking for a how to, I will do one.

Thank you for the instructions, but in the future, you could edit this down to about a couple minutes instead of ten.

Sorry about that! You know, it actually isn't as easy as it looks to make videos. You think it is just point a camera and shoot...but it actually is challenging.
I know. Don't worry, I was sick when I saw Blair Witch lol.

tanukul seriously 😒
u know what sucks is when the little screw wont hold in place anymore and u took the rod down at night and now it wont go back up and you live inside a courtyard.
Sorry to hear about your problem. I haven't had a problem with that. There is no way to tighten it?
Jessica Gray i dont know i keep turning the screw so its tight enough and it doesnt stay in place.
Hmmm. If it isn't new, then I would say the screw might be stripped or holder is. If it is new, then I'd say it must be inappropriate. Either way, it sounds like something needs to be replaced.
Jessica Gray yes it definitely was something like that so i got a new one last night at walmart. thanks for your replies.
cheers!
it is not tension, it is stress. strange a wrong naming has become the standard in industry.
Biswajit Rajaguru Well, frankly, as long as they don't start calling curtain rods toilets or bananas, I don't care. I can live with them calling it a tension rod rather than a stress rod. Stress and tension are similar enough in meaning to give the same idea.
Sorry for the repeating of words I'm very sleepy LOL
How the hell is this a 10 min vid??? It takes 30 seconds to install!!
painful to watch
This was terrible directions on installing a tension rod.
Thank you so much! This was very helpful ❤
thank you!!!!
