Imagine playing a Chaotic Tendril on turn 1 and it casts Curse of Flesh. You get a 1/1 and your opponent plays Odyn. Curse of Flesh is going to be SO tilting where the legendary minion was not because there are so many ways to cast random spells but there aren’t many ways to cast random Battlecries.
Unironically, if curse of flesh wasn't announced, the tendrils would be much stronger. This one spell makes the strategy more inconsistent and can outright lose you the game. So weird that they add a terrible 1 drop spell with the release of a build around card that uses a 1 drop spell every game. You're basically guaranteed to hit it eventually and lose turn 1.
I think they’re doing the right thing by making the anomalies only 100% at the start of the mini set. I love having randomness at the start but 6 weeks of it would probably be too much for most players. The reduced numbers later will help it feel unique. That being said if the anomalies are crazy they might get annoying fast, the currently revealed ones seem fine, though I do hope there’s 1 crazy one
I strongly disagree. To be anything more then a meme, this card needs to give the person putting it in their deck some measure of predictable advatage over someone who did not build for chogall. 100% would make this easier to build around, but at 25%... your gonna really feel bad when it doesn't trigger or your opponent will feel bad when it does; if this triggers becomes to much of the focus.
That card sucks 25% if one person brought it and 100% if BOTH brought it. But only one anomaly could be triggered from it It's like the dev having PTSD of baku and genn but someone still INSIST to make the card. It resulted a weird card The other is from event, which will run for a while after mindset release and it's guarantee to happen.
I can already see Curse of Flesh tilting the hell out of me off of a Scroll of Wonder. I think this is an active buff to the opponent in 95% of cases...
I can't wait for Tendrils in Duels Drek'thar with War Command, hopefully get the Elixir of Vigor Making your hero power "3 mana cast a random spell (upgrades each use!)" sounds at the very least fun
I think the anomalies will be fun but I can see how many people will get annoyed by them real fast. Also I want to make a cheeky rogue tendril deck in wild, get them to 10-cost and start praying for puzzle boxes.
I love how minute one after this card’s announcement, there was someone in hs discord saying “hs will be unplayable in the next year”, love how people overreact. Although they could change the game significantly, it probably won’t be completely unplayable.
Cho'gall doesn't feel good to play?! He is literally an Oger with Taunt and Lifesteal! Already good stats for the cost, even without the start of game effect this is broken.
In Wild, Encroaching Insanity also gets fueled by Curse of Agony. I could see that style of play getting even nuttier. I also think Curse of Flesh might wind up being a bit underrated. Hearthstone tends to be more minion focused than spell focused, and having the potential to lock out opponents from playing any minions for a turn or risk dropping too low on health, sounds like a very powerful tool to me. Commander wasn't widely played mainly due to his mana cost. CoFs cheap cost to provide potentially devastating disruption makes it a far better tech tool than most imo.
I'm not sure exactly how these anomalies are going to be implemented, but if they are anything like other start of game effects, its going to be revealed AFTER the mulligan. I think that this makes them more rng than a skill test since the effects revealed so far affect your starting hand making the mulligan important. You can't play around the anomalies with your mulligan if you dont know what they are.
Bestial Madness looks INSANE, just absolutely crazy broken. I think it could push Beast Hunter into competitive viability in Wild Hearthstone. I'm always wary when other classes start doing Druid things.
Does it though? Remember it does NOT affect generated minions/tokens. And it's a turn 2 do nothing for a future +1 attack to minions. Best case scenario you have 2 1/1s when you play this turn 2, they are now 2/1. Your Starving buzzard is now a 3/1 when you play it turn 3 etc. Frog Shamans kills you on turn 5 from 30 hp. How does it help you?
@@Mrlonefighter I don't play Beast Hunter but they often generate wide boards that I can't do much about. It seems like a nice finisher while also pushing out more damage from your deck later, but maybe the meta won't call for it?
While I can't speak for standard, in wild twisted frostwing will bring deathrattle hunter to a more aggressive state than it's previous midrange. Cards like mok'nathal lion and giant macaw alongside buff and trigger synergies will make it a very potent midgame card, going into constant pressure from bigger and bigger dudes. Idk if it will beat out current aggro lists after the caverns set revamped hunter aggro, but it will be an interesting contender none the less.
I finally started playing some Arcane Hunter the last week and Celestial Shot just seems insane for the deck. What were they thinking?? Just Celestial Shot with Ricochet Shot on turn 4, especially after a buff, can do face damage and clear two minions!
With the Tentacle Tender, does Blizz use "get" in their cards. I enjoy looking at word text and how it acts as a sort of guideline for what it does and how it interacts with other cards so I'm very intrigued why they didn't use, "At the end of your turn, add a 1/1 Chaotic Tendril to your hand."
theyre slowly changing all forms of "add to your hand" to "get" so they have more freedom when designing cards. because the limitation on it being 4 lines of text and 'get" taking up almost a whole line less
Encroaching Insanity is insane! You’re telling me a Demon Seed Warlock in wild is gonna be able to deal 20 damage to my face for 6 mana? I’m crafting the Demon Seed right now for this.
can anyone explain to my why helya was banned in duels? i think it's one of the weakest class, no passives support plauge(except bronze siglet i think?) and there are so many others that are so much more powerful than plague death knight... thanks in advance!
Anyone else who hates this new wording? Why change it to "get a card" instead of keeping it"add a card to your hand"?? That sounded so so much better and it was way clearer
you forgot to give the chaotic tendril a star review, although i can imagine you giving it a 2 as it is similair to tentacle tender. or even a 1 as generators might just be stronger than the card itself
I wish encroaching madness was a fel spell or something other than shadow. There's going to be some cheap mana OTK's because of how much shadow mimic Warlock has and immunity/reduction of dmg on their own turn.
Flavor > balance in this case I guess... Fel is used by demon-aligned casters, this is an Old God thing. Could they have used a different concept on the same effect? Probably. Would it fit in as well with the Yogg set? Probably not
I don't see chogall being playable at all. Symetric effect is fine, but the anamolies will need to favor one type of deck more then others... (and it would need to be non-tempo to make a 6 mana taunt/lifesteal valuable) but it looks like the anomolies are going to be 'random' on which archtype it helps... if this helps tempo and value equally over 100 games... its just a weak taunt and the 'fun' part is a wash who it helps. If it did favor value, it could be good.. but would probably be a 'feels bad' card for tempo players if its balanced for 25% chance to trigger. It will be played for meme but is trash tier.
I'm hopeful this anomaly shenanigans will actually be beneficial for the game, but I'm concerned that it's more likely to push away pro players than it is to attract new, or returning players.
I feel like anomalies needed to stay out of standard. Too much RND. The mechanic sounds fun no doubt but standard should have been shielded from this where the core mechanics didn't need tampering with. This all just seems more of a natural fit to wild and twist etc
Hmmm... I am not excited about Hunter getting more broken aggro cards, but even though I am not a fan of fatigue Warlock, I think it is good to see it get support where Hunter didn't need more Arcane support.
Anomalies, that you can't build around, where ceetain decks will inherently have an advantage, are hardly skill testing, imo. So far this set looks like an excuse to take a break from the game for a while.
Yogg has always been most popular in Hearthstone, though I hope atleast N'Zoth gets his own themed expansion as he was missing in Sunken City too.
I'm waiting for more old god hero portrait. N'Zoth has Warlock, I wonder what the others will be.
Super true . Now that I think of it , sunken city was the perfect set for a yog card

That fatigue card in wild with the 1 mana minion, tamsin, and reverb. It's a little slower than Tony Druid, but you could do insane combos.
