    I really love your cuppa and chats! This was just what I needed today to help me to stay focused on the positive. Also, during this time of social isolation, it's nice to share a coffee and chat with a faraway friend. I hope that's not too presumptuous of me, but I feel like you have become as much friend as teacher since I've signed up for your classes. Bless you Kelly; you have brought so much more than weaving into my life. Thank you!

    I enjoyed this video format. I set you up on my iPad next to my loom and made myself a cup of tea. I applaud your passion for sharing your knowledge. All the included links are a great bonus. I’ve been getting ready to tackle my first overshot project on my floor loom. Maybe I’ll wind my warp tonight!

    I've just joined your classes: they are wonderful! I hadn't woven for nearly half my lifetime, and I definitely needed the reminders! XD
    I haven't done a quilt before - I used to weave with my mum but we only did placemats and the like; but now I'm doing an experiment where I will make my own clothes using fabric I wove myself. Eventually. Weaving is a lot more complicated than I remember. XD I am also trying to find an Australian supplier of cotton and linen and dyes, which is also a lot harder than I remember it being.

    I wish I could give this more than just one thumbs-up, loved this Kelly, wonderful style and nice and long😁 You have reignited my overshot obsession and I have been enjoying the class in snippets ( being a Gold member is so worth it! ). I was grateful that you included books and other references. My ultimate goal is to manage overshot on 3 heddles so I will need, to learn how this is accomplished. I have no coverlet dreams, my eyes cannot handle that level of threading. My passion for overshot began with a scarf pattern that Yarn Barn Kansas had offered 3 years ago but I sadly didn’t buy the kit as I was too new to weaving. They used a variegated ( just like your rainbow yarns) warp and solid wefts I think. I have written to them about getting the pattern if possible. All your samples are beautiful and I really like that all white towel but 8 shafts is not happening for me. Happy weaving and thank you 💕

    • @KellyCasanova

    Kelly: LOVED the video and the style of this video. And I'm so excited about the overshot videos - looking forward to both the rigid heddle overshot and the floor loom overshot. I've loved coverlets and overshot for a long time but have been afraid that I wouldn't get the tabby right. With your always excellent instruction, I know I'll finally understand it and will finally be able to pursue my dream of doing overshot. I have an old coverlet that was given to me by a family member. They don't know much about it but I've always dreamt of making something like it on my own. Now I'll be able to, thanks to your hard work and your wonderful videos and classes!

      @@KellyCasanova: Unfortunately, no, there are no dates or initials, so no way to date the age or where it came from. I would need to take to an antiques expert, I suppose, to figure this out.

    I love this chatty style of video Kelly! Yes, please do more of them when you get the time! I've not heard of American coverlet before, so it will be interesting to delve into the history of them. I've not tried overshot yet on my RH or 4 shaft, but I'm very tempted to give it a go when your class is released. I'm having a weaving day today, currentlybworking on sampling colours for my next prayer shawl. Maybe one day, you would create a pattern for a prayer shawl!?!

    Wow those samplers are very pretty! One day I will get to explore this technique. I to have considered a coverlet. I was thinking about using scrap yarn 🧶 for it , and do like a large form of the samplers if you will. Just play with different patterns . Yes, Kelly, an interesting and enjoyable chat! 💞 Thank you.
    I have a question about overshot on the rigid heddle. Will your class be suitable for someone whose never worked with two heddles before? I have two 8 dent heddles because I’ve always wanted to try working with two heddles, but I haven’t yet because...well, just because I haven’t been able to screw up my courage enough to do so. But if you think your overshot class would be ok, I’d really like to take it and not only accomplish double heddle weaving, but also overshot weaving. Your samples are beautiful. (Also, I love that you have a photo of Mother Teresa on the wall.)

    • @KellyCasanova
      @KellyCasanova  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bonnie, I think the class would be too complex if you haven't worked with two heddles before. It is an advanced class and the threading takes a bit of doing! Have you tried my Weaving with Two Heddles class? That would be a more suitable place to start.

    Hello Kelly, are you familiar with the Open Library? You can read e-books about weaving. It's an open source library, so there are no costs. For example, the book about coverlets by Carol Strickler is available as an e-book. But also other titles about the subject. I was taken by your enthusiasme about colonial american coverlets and couldn't find many titles to buy in my country(the Netherlands). An other weaver on Facebook tipt me this library. @lizkimber 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own one. In fact I went and collected it. Now all I need to do is check I still have all the bits! I have my reeds (result) the 8 shaft loom but I fear I’m missing things like the pins to hold the beater or worried my threading hook will be too fat. I know I didn’t see my autodenter.
      I will say id seen a fair bit on overshot but somehow missed the needing a tabby between. Same for waffle weave. Explains why mine failed so bad.
