if ac currents are used then alternating fluxes by both shading flux and main flux will induce currents in moving armature and then due to their interactions of with shading and main flux an induction torque will be produced in electromagnetic attraction type ?? and what will be be its direction and what is its effect on resultant torque ??

Why force is proportional to i2 not i, & how the plunger would get magnetised?

Sir pls, I'm thinking the attracted armature can only be used as a primary relay, since, to prevent the vibrations, the shading coil helps to produce an operating torque which is always greater than the restraining force, once there's current through the relay, hence, it closes, but as secondary relays, there would always be current from the CT, but that doesn't mean the relay should operate, but since, there are made to have operational force greater than the restraining force once there's current through it, it would operate even though it's not a fault current. I'm i right with this analysis of the attracted armature type relay?

@@lecturesinelectricaleng yes but, in avoiding these vibrations, the operating torque would always be greater than the restraining force once current passes through the relay. So when it's used as a secondary relay where it is connected to the CT, how would it differentiate between a fault (or abnormal) current and a normal current or condition?

@@lecturesinelectricaleng yes I understand that, but if I got what you taught in the video right, you said that, with the shading coil incorporated in the relay, to avoid these vibrations, once current flows through the relay, the operational force would be always be greater than the restraining force, hence, the contacts will always close. Is this so?

@@jamesowusu-ansah595 I got what you are asking...actually i think that these relays work as auxiliary relay and they do not get supply from CT rather they get supply from N.O. contact of primary relay. When under fault primary relay operates and N.O. contacts become N.C. then they give supply to these relays and then due to shading coil torque is always greater than restraining torque.

Is IDMT characteristic possible in this type of relay??

Sir I did not understood why reset to pick up ratio will be more for ac and less for dc.if you plse explain elaborately. previously in basic terminology of relay lecture you said that the reset value will be much less that the pick up value .

@@lecturesinelectricaleng yes sir you have explained it and according to lecture 301 reset value for the case of ac has to be much less that pick up value
