After 36 years, I still love this song - it brings back such memories. I used to listen to it on my Walkman on my way home from a crappy late-night job at a downtown Toronto hotel during the summer of 1984. At the time, I was very young and very smitten by a another staff-member who clearly had no interest in me. I went to the Culture Club concert last night and when they began playing this song I was overcome with such euphoria it brought me to tears. I had forgotten that this song even existed, as it wasn’t really a big hit in the States and you never hear it played on the radio like the mega hits are. Undoubtely, one of the best songs of CC. A great pity that fans of that time didn’t notice the value of the song. I think that finally, time made justice with this masterpiece. Regards from Montevideo.
George gets a lot of credit for his vocals here but it was Roy Hay who created the music and composition of this song, without that you just have words on paper. Well done Roy❤️
An absolute classic this, George's voice, the lyrics, the musicians - all terrific. Looking at Culture Club's best song's, and this is certainly one of them, they're always about love, but never in a corny way or oversentimental, it's music from the soul.
Have loved this song since the 80s! George's voice is amazing as usual, but can we please give Roy Hay some credit for his amazing talent! Xoxo Roy's #1 fan
Bravissimi ieri e oggi !
After learning of his struggles with his band mate, and listening closely to the lyrics, you can feel the pain. Even his “fun” songs have similarly passion filled lyrics.
Facevamo sempre qualche sorrisino ironico quando cantavano i Culture club. Questo capolavoro ci ha chiuso la bocca. Anzi, siamo rimasti a bocca aperta. Meraviglioso.
Hai perfettamente ragione.

@@jaynewight8333 yah but he had more range in his youth. His voice is more husky now which is fine but i prefer his young voice for Victims
Olá .
Helen Terry backing made this song into a classic imo, there’s a live version doing the rounds on yt that is astounding with Helen on.
Oh my god, I cry, I smile, I enjoyed , beautiful as hell, hats off . When good music is good always sounds fresh aand beautiful but looking at the fantasy and georgeousness and George and his amazing voice is just out of this world
Stunning, timeless and beautiful piece of music...
By far and away, Culture Clubs best song in my opinion.
Flawless, a timeless classic that is unlikely to be matched or ever repeated
Maybe my favorite Culture Club song ever. Epic pop.
The victims we know so well
They shine in your eyes
When they kiss and tell
Strange places we never see
But you're always there
Like a ghost in my dream
And I keep on telling you
Please don't do the things you do
When you do those things
Pull my puppet strings
I have the strangest void for you
We love and we never tell
What places our hearts in the wishing well
Love leads us into the stream
And it's sink or swim
Like it's always been
And I keep on loving you
It's the only thing to do
When the angel sings
There are greater things
Can I give them all to you
Pull the strings of emotion
Take a ride into unknown pleasure
Feel like a child
On a dark night
Wishing there was some kind of heaven
Oh I could be warm with you smiling
Hold out your hand for a while
The victims we know them so well
So well
The victims we know so well
They shine in your eyes
When they kiss and tell
Strange places we never see
But you're always there
Like a ghost in my dream
And I keep on telling you
Please don't do the things you do
When you do those things
Pull my puppet strings
I have the strangest void for you
Show my heart some devotion
Push aside those that whisper never
Fell like a child on a dark night
Wishing we could spend it together
Oh I could be warm with you smiling
Hold out your hand for a while
The victims
We know them so well
So well
Thank you
What a beautiful love song. Beautiful Boy George
The best Boy George
@@francescopetruzzelli7746 grande, almeno qualche italiano le ascolta ancora queste canzoni.
@@murderinthealps2024 Queste non sono canzoni. Sono opere D'arte
This is the song with which Boy George and Culture Club have consecrated their musical maturity. For me it is their most beautiful song ever
Undoubtely, one of the best songs of CC.
A great pity that fans of that time didn’t notice the value of the song.
I think that finally, time made justice with this masterpiece.
Regards from Montevideo.
Timeless... Haunting melody and lush orchestration.
Yah Roy wrote the piano melody. Go Roy!!
What a melody!!!!!!!! One of the best of the '80 ... for sure.
One of my favourite numbers from this album. Beautiful melodies and lyrics and sung with such feeling and purity of voice. Lovely.
George gets a lot of credit for his vocals here but it was Roy Hay who created the music and composition of this song, without that you just have words on paper. Well done Roy❤️
George’s vocals are so soulful here.
Not to mention Ellen Terrys backing vocals
BOY GEORGE sang it so well and i'm speechless. For me this song is and always will be a SPLENDOR. ...DO YOU AGREE WITH ME??!!
This is what I call a real music that will never die
I love this song.. it will live on and on. As the world grows more and more devastating.. it holds a piece of my heart ❤️
An absolute classic this, George's voice, the lyrics, the musicians - all terrific. Looking at Culture Club's best song's, and this is certainly one of them, they're always about love, but never in a corny way or oversentimental, it's music from the soul.
Stunning man, stunning voice,I always wanted his hats!
Such an underrated song.... I loved and still do love it 💚
I love Culture Club!! One of my favorite songs!!
David Payne . Yep me too hun x
I love Culture Club too love all of their songs
Fabulous song, Culture Club are just great aren’t they?
Totally beautiful. He is an amazing human being and his voice, my god his voice gets better as he ages ❤️
Have loved this song since the 80s! George's voice is amazing as usual, but can we please give Roy Hay some credit for his amazing talent! Xoxo Roy's #1 fan
Michelle Harubin Roy and boy wrote the songs, both amazing
Not forgetting Helen Terry's backing vocals.
The whole package is perfect.
Bravissimi ieri e oggi !
I absolutely love Boy George I remember dancing to his songs back in the day. This is a blast from the past.❤
George was so far ahead it unreal and the words are so beautiful
Gorgeous, love this melody, thank you George for all that you bring to us xxx
I GIVE THIS SONG THE RARE DISTINCTION OF BEING A MASTERPIECE
Agreed!
The 80’s was the most diverse and creative era for music without a doubt. This song is tribute to that.
Sublime. Straight from the heart. Bravo.
After learning of his struggles with his band mate, and listening closely to the lyrics, you can feel the pain. Even his “fun” songs have similarly passion filled lyrics.
How did Jon react ?
A great song from the classic 80's. Damn I miss this era so so badly.
Was this song about the drummer he was in love with?
So do I. Terribly
Never beat the 80's never i was 10 when this song came out 💯❤️😘
41 years ago. WOW. we're all grown up now
Facevamo sempre qualche sorrisino ironico quando cantavano i Culture club. Questo capolavoro ci ha chiuso la bocca. Anzi, siamo rimasti a bocca aperta. Meraviglioso.
Such a beautifully written song ….. brings a tear to my eyes after all these years and I love the oboe at the end…
One of the most underrated singers of our time.
Ist heard this on the radio id left school and on the dole ..still listening today im retired now..thats a lifetime..time waits for no one..youth they say is a mask..it doesnt last..listening to this takes me back to the early 80s ..makes me feel young again..sweet innocent boy again ❤
From the arrangement to the vocals and lyrics , all beautiful
❤Love this song ,and love the stunning voice of Helen Terry!
I was only 9 when this came out, but I loved it. I loved it all through my early teens and now nearly 40 years later I still love it. Hauntingly beautiful ❤
SIMPLESMENTE LINDO!

I love this song . I was 23 in 1983. It was a favorite track of mine by Culture Club. Stunning and beautifully sung by Boy George.
This is typical masterpiece of 80's...nobody even came close to this since 1994
