Hello Nick. I've been using the 2900 here for several years now. It's been a flawless performer for me. You really get a lot of radio for the money. I think that they've discontinued it now but still a fair number of them floating about. Your friend should be well pleased with it. ATB Doug.
Hi Doug, that's a coincidence you having the same radio. Seems excellent & well made. Managed to find yaesu secret settings menu & reduce the high power setting to 50 Watts, as the new owner didn't really want it to run 75. I'm sure he'll be very happy with, but expecting many questions from him on how to use it! Best wishes nick
Hello Nick, did you say that your pwr attenuator is 40 db. So what offset did you program into the pwr meter? 10 db ? Also what power level were you pumping into the Counter? Trying to get things straight. Thanks !
The power attenuator is 30 db, then another 10 db on the output of that so the offset is programed at 40 db. There was around -3 dbm going into the counter as I had the radio set to 5 Watts.
What an excellent video. Thanks for making it!

I have the FT2800M, bought it to re-sell it except after I tested it I found it worked *really* well for what it is so it's my rag chew/net 2M radio.
