Tien has been the terminator this whole year. So excited to see him play a full year on tour next year, hes had a similar trajectory as ben shelton, so hopefully he climbs high next season
A win tomorrow and some points in Champaign, and he’s going to qualify for the main draw straight up. Can’t wait to see what his game looks like against top 100 competition.
@@MttSuddarth Not yet. He's at #114. You need to be top 100 to be sure. 128 spots available. Bunch of wildcards are given plus injury protected ranking so roughly top 100 get in directly give or take.
@@andrewash9318 I'm Vietnamese so of course I'm rooting for Tien but he needs to work on his serve. I don't see him getting inside top 50 with that serve.
Nishesh wasn’t himself today. Seemed tentative from the start, didn’t have his usual command of his shots, wasn’t aggressive like he usually is. Learner just played his game and really wasn’t pushed until he was broken trying to close it out. Impressed with how smooth and effortless his game looks, which masks the sophisticated thought process and execution behind it.
True, he didn’t attack the second serve anywhere near like he normally does. Didn’t drop shot much either. He was shaking his head the entire match, like he couldn’t believe how poorly he was playing.
If you watch the full match on Challenger TV, it's clearer what happened. Learner's 1st serve percentage was ridiculous. That put so much pressure on Nishesh that he became tentative. Conversely, Learner was free to hit out because he was constantly ahead.
Fonseca 1-0 against Tien. Even though it was AO Junior Finals. Fonseca has more upside then Tien. Both 18 but Fonseca 6-1 vs 5'11 Tien. Tien serve isn't effective enough in the ATP.
I think it proves again. Nishesh has no game against better defending players. He struggless with making his own pace in the rallys, if the opposing players doesnt provide enough. Nishes needs to work on this - maybe go play some tournaments on the dirt.
@ I am not saying he is not good man, he is great and has huge potential. I am saying, that he plays much better if the rallys are quick and short. He can redirect balls very well a thrives from the pace, that creates his opponent. But once somebody slows it down, like Govind and Learner did, he little bit starts to panic I think and then he is making easy mistakes. Thats why I would be curious how would he manage in slower conditions.
tien mainly exposed nishesh’s forehand and a little bit of the movement today. i suspect (if he makes it to grand slam qualies and atp 250 level events), top players will do the same.
He's no longer Learner; now he's Teacher
Haha. Good one!
Learner such a weird name. Is it an Asian American joke?
Professor Tien! Office hours every Sunday
Tien just got taught by rank 498 Aiden McHugh.
Hah saw that. Cruel sport. I'll blame fatigue!

Was really looking forward to this match. Both of these players are VERY high level. Excellent level of play. Thank you!
Felt like a good left handed player is a challenge Nishesh needs to work on.
Pretty easy win for Tien here. Basavareddy has been playing well the last few weeks. I think a win tomorrow might get Tien the AO wild card challenge.

He won’t need it, he’ll qualify directly

@@Firephosure Top 104, but there is usually 1-2 pullouts so top 106. If he gets to another challenger final, he should qualify.
Damn feels good watching Learner beat Basavareddy, earning my respect Learner, keep up the good work
Nishesh has to attack on the returns more consistently. That's when he's at his best. When he's attacking the on servus return.
These two are super similar in this way in my opinion, return games are on fire

come on tien is the much better play in terms everything except maybe power and serve .
Exactly what I was thinking
it’s because tien imposed his game better
he’s a great player but lerner is getting better even faster. Nishesh knows that and it’s effecting him mentally
I saw the match in person, and it could not have been more obvious that Nishesh was not playing anywhere near his usual level.
When your parents give you an anime name and you get anime powers
where was nishesh return this match?

Tien is a beast
Tien is a problem! What an excellent player!
Tien is chinese or vietnamese ???
viet
Vietnamese chinese
Tien way better than overhyped Fonseca
idk about that Fonseca has a sky high ceiling
Fonseca has more power in his strikes, while Tien has better defense. I think Fonseca's ceiling is higher
