So many videos are titled "tutorial" and aren't. This was actually a tutorial; a very good one too. Thank you so much for taking the time to "teach". I learned a lot. THNAK YOU!!!!
I totally hear you, Katie Irish, a 4 or 5 minute demo is NOT a tutorial. I need all the instruction I can get. The Art Chik is definitely on track here. :)
This is truly an amazingly beautiful painting absolutely stunning and a pleasure to watch, thank you for taking the time to show the detail slowly, without it I couldn’t paint so I’m very grateful thanks so much. Leisha 👏🤗🎨
I know this is an old video, but I just wanted to say that you're an amazing teacher. I just found your channel, but I have so many of your videos saved to watch after this one. I saw you did a video a few months ago. I hope you're doing well and thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us. This is absolutely beautiful 🖤
Wow you are an amazing Teacher.. wow I paint with Arcylics.. but wow .. that was probably one of the Best Tutorials ever thank you .. that is Teaching 👍❤️
I find that if you just go in and block in the dear with the darkest color then add your details after it is much easier and faster to finish him. Over all though everything looks great!
Thank you very much for your input. I feel that every artist has their own technique that serves them best. What matters most is the end product. Years ago when I was first learning, I would get very frustrated when blocking in the entire figure first, because I would lose the anatomical detail of the animal/person. Muscle structure tends to gets lost in the process (at least for me). I shade in the complete structure with a sienna brown Prismacolor pencil, and have found that with all of my paintings, the proportions are more accurate in the end. There are many, many ways to do it, but ALWAYS consider the end product. If it looks great, then that’s what counts. 👌🏼
Are you referring to a watercolor pencil? I have some of those! Obviously, there must not be a problem with the oil paint sticking to that. I'll try it this time. Thank you.
Thank you, you have a great way of explaining things so that they make sense. I really appreciate your teaching style. I totally agree with the earlier comment about videos titled "tutorial". This was an excellent example of what that description should mean. Thank you! I subscribed and will definitely be watching for more of your videos in the future. I want to start painting animals and this was really helpful.
you are an amazing painter! love the softness and ghostly style. I was wondering if your picking up the liquin regularly throughout your painting, your paint seems to glide on so easily. Thankyou
Thank you so much!! Yes, definitely. I use Liquin throughout the entire process. But it works best if you mix into each color swatch rather than applying alone, directly on your canvas.
As a professional artist, the only way to achieve realistic art is through mixing and applying a variety of shades and colors. People these days want everything to be so simple, but it has taken years for me to learn how to paint the way I paint. Those who don’t put the same amount of time into their work, will never have the same results. It takes time and mastery.
Initially, those colors are dark to begin with, but after mixing other lighter colors into them, you’ll see them brighten up. I don’t like applying a color directly from tube to canvas without first mixing with other colors. They come to life as you begin the process. Does that make sense?

Why do your colors look so dark? Like your alizerin crimson, burnt ember, burnt seiena
On the paint pallet, or the canvas? 😊
