I believe you missed a point on the bonus commercial, at first it was NO WAY because the R was missing, when the R finally arrived the Y had left to find the R, and the R took Y's place in line and made the message say NO WAR.. :)

Ironically the Bipper commercial was criticized in Norway because of the... GPS tracking of kids. Which some say might harm the individuality of the kids as they know they are being tracked and might harm trust between the kid and hes parents.

Mr Bean is quite popular in Norway as for the rest of the world. It’s not for everyone, but definitely a classic. Something people have grown up watching, so theres a certain nostalgia. They often air episodes or one of the films around holidays.

Sir Rowan Atkinson's Mr. Bean is very popular all around the world for the same reason Charlie Chaplin was popular, silent acting can be understood by anyone, any age, no language required.

The reason Norwegian commercials are unusual (or used to be; they're normal now) is because Norway didn't have TV commercials until 1992. When American commercials started airing we found them ridiculous, and so when Norwegian companies tried making their own ads they made them parodies because the idea of an ad was a laughable concept to begin with. This ironically led to ads that won awards all over the world throughout the following decade. Young Norwegians have grown up with ads just like American kids, and can be reached in a similar way, and our media today is mostly boilerplate.

  • @susannepalm9740

If you listen to the lyrics in the song "No milk today" and watch people falling over.. you will understand it from the beginning.

Rowan Atkinson is known all over the world, and as the UK is just short skip across "the lake" from Norway, it really isn't that strange that he is popular here as well. The laugh track is used in pretty much all of the Mr. Bean sketch show episodes, so adding it in this commercial isn't meant to make it sound live, but to make is sound familiar. If a commercial can make you feel something, like nostalgia, it is far more likely that it will work.

Its a norwegian comedy movie, but it very heavily leans into that specific city with the dialect they speak in is known to be among the ugliest in norway. (Not really ugly but think about how people in alabama speak compared to other us states.) Mr. Bean has always been hyper popular in Noray. I guess it has died down a bit now. Norwgians just love british humour, the more obscure and unknown, the better. Personally I love everything by Chris Morris and Charlie Brooker. They ended up making Black Mirror together. I do not think anyone has had more shows cancelled than Chris Morris though. You can't joke about certain things in Britain, and the executives have way too much power, but will take orders from anyone higher up, not taking a liking to the themes. Like p-d-filia, is a non-theme. Probably because so many of tthose higher ups actually were caught doing it,. Like in the 70's when Johnny Rotten called Jimmy Saville a pedo on live tv. People threatened his life all the time. And when Saville had died, then it all came out, that he was the nation's biggest and most untouchable pedophile. People knew already back then, but he had mighty friends, so he was allowed to go into girl's schools and get young girls. He had keys to Broadmoor psychiatric hospital for the criminallly insane, where he also got a lot of his victims. Nobody stopped him, ever.

Norwegians are starting to get very known for their wit. People are headhunted to teach foreign companies to make commercials and how to make people feel about products. One of our Hardest Black Metal band, Ulver, started making more electronic music, and now they are scoring big hollywood productions. They are huge. The Italian Metal band Abhorym's albums are produced by Norwegians, just to get the correct sound. Italians learn Norwegian to be black metal vocalists

I think Scandinavia and North America actually share a lot in common when it comes to sarcasm and humor, even though some Americans might think that Europe is a bit behind the times in that regard. In fact, I'd argue that Scandinavia is actually further ahead when it comes to this type of humor. From dry wit to deadpan delivery, Scandinavian humor is often characterized by its subtle, understated nature - something that I think many Americans can appreciate. Of course, humor is subjective, and what one person finds funny might not be the same for someone else. But personally, I think it's always fascinating to learn more about the different types of humor and cultural nuances that exist around the world.

Norwegians really hate "continental" made ads with perfect peoples with Norwegian voice-over, so the companies usually try to make own versions for our market. We are quite spoiled now, actually! 😂

It has actually been made 3 movies based of the last commercial in the video. They are from Fredrikstad, which is where I live. The films are named «Lange Flate ballær», Long flat balls in english.
