There's a pvp talent that makes fireball reduce the cooldown of combustion by 5 sec, so basically you want to spam fireball whenever you can to get combustion off cooldown asap

I got the first ever gladiator mount in s1 tbc (without realising, i thought arena was just a secondary thing ppl did for fun inbetween raids) and after 9 years absence i resubbed! Safe to say i dont recognise the game anymore and deleted my character and buried the nostalgia once and for all. The game is not 'fun' and what you do is amazing yet in 10years time you wont remember this. I remember my first epic (tailored epic made by a dwarf i scammed for 250g) and my first 1v2 (me as lock vs 2 full t2.5 rets). You are a highly skilled player, have amazing gear and you are 10000x better than I would be (although i think i would have had the advantage of you in TBC) but you have nothing to remember except ratings and subs, i had friends and real memories. One fireball takes 5s off combust cd? That’s so broken it’s unbelievable. How is this in the game? What other class has such insane cdr on an ability that idk...triples their damage? I’ve never been so baffled. Watching these vids I thought it was maybe 1 or 2s but 5 is way way way overtuned.
You could feasibly get combust back spamming 2s fireballs in 34s. Although this is unlikely in an arena, it shouldn’t even be possible. Nerf to 1.5s cdr per fireball. Still equates to 75% cdr on combust if spamming fireball which is very generous and still rewards getting casts off.
The reason they’re able to combust, get CDs, combust again, get more CDs, and combust before the first CDs are up is because this cdr is too high. It just is. Shouldn’t be able to combust 2 more times before a trinket is back off cooldown.
I know people want to nerf mages over this but the amount of setup and communication required for this is something not your average team can do, the last game warrior did all that dmg for what? While the mages to do a perfect setup to kill paladin, it does take skill IMO

As someone who doesn’t play mage and has only started playing again, what does “farming the busts” mean. Is that just getting hot steak procs?

its the burst cooldown combust, the cd is reduced a little by every firrball you fire
There's a pvp talent that makes fireball reduce the cooldown of combustion by 5 sec, so basically you want to spam fireball whenever you can to get combustion off cooldown asap
