Isildur was technically high king with the right to rule both. He left Anarion's son in Gondor when he returned to Arnor. But Aragorn is also descended through Anarion via Firiel, who married Arvedui, the last King of Arthedain.
The technicality of Ardevuis marriage to Firial granting the descendants of Isildur the right to rule Gondor was rejected both by Gondor 1000 years before LOTR and by Denethor himself. Faramir and the people of Gondorproclaimed him king for reasons aside from that very thin relation to Anarion.

I really enjoyed this video. I was really looking forward for a strategic overview on the war of the ring and from a map perspective how the armies were moving. I like the way how you explain the armies moving on the map meanwhile at witch point or location the fellowship was during their travel. I'm looking forward for a next episode. I hope future videos will also explain the war in the north in the same style.
14:25 Frodo never actually received Gandalfs Letter. The innkeeper at the Prancing Pony never sent it. It was meer luck that Frodo actually got out of The Shire in time. Gandalf counciled Frodo about 6 months prior to leave.
The trailers and the information that has appeared already, clearly shows their intentions. The focus is on current identity politics, not honoring Tolkien or giving the large fan base of Tolkien what they want. It's a shame since it will be about Numemor and a time that is really interesting.
Simply amazing work. I havent read the trilogy for some time and was reminded of some events, but also gained a much cleared picture of how all the events coincided.
Not sure how many would know about this BUT when I was a young man, early teens or so I was really into a series of books by an author named Joe Dever called 'The Lone Wolf'. They were as close to playing an RPG as books would get, a 'choose your adventure' types that were not linear in their telling, but ultimately there should be some base lore for that universe and it was the only books I personally could ever find myself urged to read and keep going, buying as many of them as I could find at the time. The universe was extremely and enthralling and I think 'could' make a good addition and bring maybe some people that wouldn't maybe otherwise be here, There HAS to be other people like me who've kept the feelings all these decades that the series gave you when reading the books. Just a thought and a suggestion if in any way you'd be willing to see if it could meet any criteria you have. Thanks for your time in these....
I believe this channel made their video based on the books, instead of the movie and I appreciate that so much. I have no problems with the movie, they are wonderful movies, probably one of the best movie that I have ever watched. But it is true that some details and information were changed in the movie, in order to make it more dramatics maybe?? But in order to truly understand the lore, I believe we must look to the books instead of just the movie, and for that I truly appreciate this channel. Hope you guys keep up the good work.
PLEASE do a series on Joe Dever's Lone Wolf! Its a sprawling fantasy epic, done in the "Choose Your Own Adventure" style of an RPG, but with cannon "correct" plot lines. The first book, Flight in the Dark, was reprinted recently by my good friend Ben Devere, son of the late author. I KNOW he would love to habe his and his fathers work presented on your channel, we've talked about it a few times. In many ways, Lone Wolf was one of the most important fantasy series ever written, though it is little known here in the US. It would be AMAZING to see you guys do a series on it! Another series on Raymond Feist's Rift war series and Codex Alera would be awesome!
Great vid! Suggestions for other fantasy/sci-fi vids? How about Battlestar Galactica? BSG has lots of great battles, so I'd love to see your vids for those 🙂
Can you please lay out the battles for the David Webber books especially in the Safehold series his books are great but the battles are a little hard to follow and I would love a video showing exactly what happened
The fellowship was one of the greatest groups of heroes in any fantasy universe. They were represent by 5 races: Men (+Dunedain), Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, and wizards (Istari or Maia).
Every video you make is the best but i think you must complete a whole series first and then move to the next one as it makes one to remember the previous one and the continuation makes it more interesting...
Very good video- But I have a minor correction - as far as I know, the orcs who fled south because of the attacs of the dwarves even made strongholds in the White Mountains, not just in the Misty Mountains and areas around. So it took a long time until there were no orcs north and south of Rohan at the same time. The orcs who attacked the fellowship were a "combined" force of Uruks from Mordor, Uruk-hai and Northerner Orcs (who were just after revenge for their slain comrades in Moria).

@11:51 This. I’ve always seen Osgiliath as the Stalingrad of Middle Earth (pretty sure one of the set designers of the trilogy said as much for the movies) so I would love to see a more detailed video of the loci and cities of Middle Earth in specific.
"I would have followed you, my brother. My captain. My King."
Great abstract that shows how desperate the free peoples of Middle Earth actually were. Nice video it is.
I honestly know all this already, but I support the idea of the content, so I’m helping w the algorithm
I thought that you were going to focus on the major battles, but this is very thorough summary of the story. Well done!
Your documents are incredibly well done. I’m loving them. Please keep them up 😊
love the video i saw the movie when it came out all those years ago and it brought back so many memories
14:25 Frodo never actually received Gandalfs Letter. The innkeeper at the Prancing Pony never sent it. It was meer luck that Frodo actually got out of The Shire in time. Gandalf counciled Frodo about 6 months prior to leave.
Please do more LOTR vids. I don't have high hopes with Amazon series
Only those who hate Tolkien's work are optimistic about it.
The trailers and the information that has appeared already, clearly shows their intentions. The focus is on current identity politics, not honoring Tolkien or giving the large fan base of Tolkien what they want.
It's a shame since it will be about Numemor and a time that is really interesting.
Once again, thank you for your work !!
Can’t wait for the next videos on the lord of the rings lore , you guys are doing an Awesome job
Thank you
Amazingly well done!
Simply amazing work. I havent read the trilogy for some time and was reminded of some events, but also gained a much cleared picture of how all the events coincided.
Great video, great visuals, great narration, I love this channel!
I really like this new channel, it is so much fun seeing your grest format handle fantasy and sci fi. 🙌
Fantastic video keep it up your doing amazing job
being very familiar with the books it is actually quite nice to see the movements of the fellowship plotted on the map like this!
Loving your Middle-Earth videos guys and amazing animations really bringing the lore to life! ⚔🏹
So excited for the next journey of LoTR.
Love all the Content you guys make, Please continue on making more Videos like These!
I love this series. Thanks for covering my favorite battles in the Legendarium 🥰
So excited to see this on my suggestion list!! :D
Wow & 4th! Wish for Stargate videos soon!
Daily Reminder that Boromir, Captain of the White Tower was a hero.
“There’s another dark lord staring these days…”
Ah yes, the Ad Lords.
An excellent video. I'm really starting to like this channel. My compliments to all those who made this video a reality.
fantastic can't wait for the next
Dam I love this documentary!!!! Will you guys be doing any of documentaries of middle earth fighting Morgath?
Magnificent as usual
so exceptional. Thank you.
Cheers great vid. Makes me want to watch the movies. Thank You KnG's
C'mon men, so much high level content from you guys... Youre great
Great vid! Suggestions for other fantasy/sci-fi vids? How about Battlestar Galactica? BSG has lots of great battles, so I'd love to see your vids for those 🙂
Can you please lay out the battles for the David Webber books especially in the Safehold series his books are great but the battles are a little hard to follow and I would love a video showing exactly what happened
very good video nice to see some characters we know from the series
Kingdom of Gondor must be destroyed.
Sauron delenda est!
I can only see Aragon as Viggo. We are SO lucky they replaced Stuart Townsend with him after filming had begun.
The fellowship was one of the greatest groups of heroes in any fantasy universe. They were represent by 5 races: Men (+Dunedain), Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, and wizards (Istari or Maia).
This was Precious!
I require a Dain Ironfoot video AND a Balin one
My great grandfather met gandalf he said he is as intense and always speaks in riddle as advertised during his interview with oprah.
Nice work dude
These videos are so good. I hope one day to see some battles from Warhammer covered
The message didnt reach Frodo, it was months late as Butterbur never delivered the letter.
As beautiful as the first time I saw it!
17:39 You cannot tell me that wasn't your favorite part of the script.
It was, one of my favourite movie scenes ever, was hard to do it justice!
One Word. AWESOME
Can't wait for part 2.
chills 17:39 , literal chills
Best show of strength from denethor was that he was never fully corrupted by sauron like saruman was
C'mon guys, you gotta do some content on the stormlight archives. That would be so 🔥
I like these videos. I would love to see a video on Halo and the fall of Reach or maybe the contact on harvest!
"I would have followed you to the end, my captain, my brother, my king."
Always felt special to know the council of elrond happened on October 25th my birthday!
