Wish I had the “gumption “ to live this way - your videos are fun to watch and dream!

Great vid as always guys. Having been going to the lakes for years we both walk and bike the fells. Never had any issues but there will always be someone who enjoys having a moan. You seem to have the right attitude so carry on and enjoy .

Cheers Billy! Yeh, we were surprised actually, everyone of the locals we've chatted with have been fine with the riding. Have met some amazing characters in the hills too!

We certainly need greater access to the land and inland waterways just as Scotland enjoys. Rights with responsibility. I'm sure you may well find conflict in the warmer months in the honeypot areas where the Lakes are always busy. In the meantime enjoy the cooler times when the hills will be less busy.

We definitely do, the more people connecting with landscapes the better. We're still feeling conflicted though. We will take things as they come and see how we get along.

Good that you are showing some sensitivity to cycling on footpaths. Welsh Government recently abandoned the idea of making it legal for cycling on footpaths.
Just discovered your channel. The videos are excellent you tell the story with a sequance of short clips which results a video that is well illustrated and not too long, which for me is over 20 mins.

Glad you like the video, cheers! Curious to know what you think the etiquette should be with open access and cyclist being able to use footpaths?

I’ve walked 95% of the wainwrights, many of them several times, I also mtb in the Lake District, while out hiking I’ve seen bikers on a lot of the peaks, and find as long as your courteous and friendly you will have no problems,

Think that's the key. A smile and being respectful gets you a long way!

Well, I don't know where my comment vanished to. Maybe because I'd inadvertently left a link to the Ramblers website, IDK. In any case, you both are conscientious and concerned about all things, and that does you credit. Do the Wainwrights fall under the jurisdiction of National Parks, county councils, regional councils...? Perhaps advice from a local walking or hiking club would help? I can't imagine there being any real concerns with you using such remote trails for bikepacking. Respect is key, and you've both got bags of it. (ha). That, and keeping interactions on the trail positive, always friendly and you'll be good ambassadors for trail users. Good luck with the peak bagging, the scenery is spectacular and every climb worth it I'm sure. (Mind the ice!) ATB from another wintry part of the world.

Hey Brad, awesome ideas. I sent an email to Right to Roam yesterday to get their opinion and have chatted with some local land maintenance. Ramblers and Park Authority would be good ideas too. Funny you say about the ice, had some funny situations riding today for next week's video 😅

You can't please everyone all of the time, it doesn't matter what you do there will always be that one person so if you're not causing any harm I say go ahead

I cycle footpaths, I live in Cambridges and l can cycle for miles on footpaths and never see anyone else. If l do meet someone l am always courteous, l believe the countryside is big enough for everyone to enjoy. After living in Scotland for years, the right to roam is the way forward. The odd one or two who spoil it in Scotland would still do what they do even if there was no right to roam so its about education. As for walkers, like every group you will always get one or two who feel they have absolute right to be there and feel no one else should be allowed but they are probably the same when driving and most cyclists have encountered these people.

Completely agree that England should have open access like Scotland. Baffles me it's not there yet but hopefully one day. I also agree as long as your courteous then these places can and should be enjoyed by all. We have had the odd comment of cycling across empty Fells but I too think education is key.
