- With California getting pounded by storms this winter, our reservoirs and lakes have benefited with rising water. Lake Oroville in particular has gone up almost 100 feet since last month now at 777 ft at 86% of full pool.

I feel like a 1/4 jighead and a swimbait will work pretty well, Oroville fishes a little bit like Berryessa, but the baitfish in Oroville are Pond Smelt, a little bit of a purple stripe to them 😌 good luck man

If time allows, you might consider launching at limesaddle Marina in the West Branch Paradise area. Suggest heading towards the North fork. Completely different water. Yea fished tournaments at Comanche to New Melones and Clear lake and all the others like Orville to with Gary Klein awhile back when I was young , Clear fishing light with lil Bits then .

Try going to a smaller size jig that is a tungsten. They tend to work better when the water is colder.
Looks like a fun day. Hopefully I can get out this week. When the water levels change so much it's like fishing a brand new lake. My local ones were down to 6% now they're up around 50%. It's been a few years since the water levels went up this much, should make the fishing fun

You should try out the Daiwa Lure Retriever. I use it for getting blade baits and cranks unsnagged. It’s saved me from breaking off a million times.

About 5 minutes into your video I was wondering how much you utilize your graph and as if you read my mind you started looking at it and narrating your thoughts. You can try and figure 8 them if they have one hook when you’re using treble hooks in order to get more hooks in them, good luck this year!

haha, when i first saw it i knew i had to have it. tbh it's perfect for certain situations. CA ramps being super long and on kayak tournament days (or really just the weekends) it's great to slide onto the dolly and drive up to a nice secluded location. all of course without having to actually register and use a trailer on the highway
I don't have that little trailer system, but, I DO have Landing Gear, and all I do is ratchet strap the front handle of my kayak to the rear of my vehicle, to bring the kayak to/from the water's edge. Just a thought.

the theory is actually that the fast rising water riles up the fish and causes them to feed more, since there's more possible food introduced into their habitat

I must pick up some Money Badgers. The only Berkley crankbaits I have fished are the 25.5 Dredgers since they do something that none of my other crankbaits do. They're a more finesse presentation super deep. I think most of Berkley's crankbait colors suck, but it looks like they came up with a ton of new and great colors for this bait. I hope they start making some of their others in these colors.
i like the money badger. it reminds me of the old cross bill crankbaits that typically did well in winter/prespawn for fish in 10-15'

Thanks again for the great video Greg. I do have a question for you. I've always used an open face reel and I've been considering trying a bait caster reel. I noticed that sometimes you will use a left hand retrieve and sometimes a right hand retrieve on your bait caster. Is there a reason
for the switch up - do you have a preference? I'm right handed so was wondering if you could give me some advise on which retrieve I would possibly be happier with. Keep up the great content !!!!!!

I have noticed in videos of kayak fishing that there is practically always water in the bottom of the kayak. Having never used a sit on top kayak before I am just wondering why all the water?
